UNIT The Observer Off the coast, and very much further down than any could see, there rested an old-looking, blocky, and mildew-covered piece of machinery. Wedged into the sand and having a large amount of force exerted upon it, it looked as though it had rested there for ages. Which it had. In its hibernation, the machine had stored what little energy it could, all for the purpose of giving it's soul inhabitant a chance to complete it's mission.
That was the day. After all the decades waiting, the machine gave a noise. A hum, and a slight buzz in the water, along with a gentle glow from two of the white lights along the sides. A ring of light seemed to emanate from the hunk of metal, and the unheard noises surrounding it increased in pitch. Finally, the light reached it's zenith, and the bottom of the machine began to rise from the sand and muck beneath it.
The light it created was intense, and more than enough to be seen just slightly from the surface.

UNIT The Observer As the new presence encroached on the light of the machine, bubbles began to slip from each crevice, and parts seemed to shift of their own accord. The light began to pulse, and the humming grew even louder. Suddenly, the sides of the machine began to slide lower and lower; revealing a sort of half-cylinder, about seven feet tall, made of what appeared to a solid piece of metal.
The light surged before all returning to the machine, and another loud hum sounded off. Without warning, the half-cylinder groaned, and jettisoned from the base of the machine; at torpedo-like speeds it broke the surface of the ocean. Coming to a solid halt on shore, the machine laid on its back with the rounded side facing up. Sunlight glinted off the surface, and the light texture of interlocked hexagons could be seen over the entirety of the metal.

UNIT The Observer Sunlight glinting off the surface, the pod began to shimmer; the hexagons seemed to shift, simultaneously, in a manner which made it appear they didn't move at all. The sounds of more parts shifting inside the machine could be heard, and the sides of the pod started to give off a bizarre hissing noise.
Steadily, the sides of the device unlocked, and the covered front of the pod slid open; revealing a humanoid figure from beneath a casement of glass. Scanning the area, and picking up on a single living entity within nominal range, the pod finished its preparations, and the glass deteriorated from before the being which laid inside.
The eyes of the humanoid opened, and slowly it began to sit up. With completely smooth movements, it approached the woman, taking in it's surroundings as well, until it was directly before her. A series of strange, radio-like, tones escaped the humanoid; it could easily be construed as an attempt at introduction.

UNIT The Observer Whether or not the creature was continuing because of the woman's permission or not, it took a gentle grasp of her wrist and closed it's three-fingered hand around the skin. After a few moments of contact, something changed.
The outer layer of the creature's appearance began to ripple, like the surface of water, but the shape of the whole being changed as well. It became shorter, hair seemed to sprout from the back of it's bald head, and the face which was once blank began to take the shape into the exact visage of the woman before it.
In a matter of moments, the mysterious, faceless creature reflected perfectly the girl, whom it could now identify as a woman named "Kera Troy". It blinked, adjusting it's sight to it's new form. Using the same language, Greek, as Kera had spoken to it, it responded a bit slowly. "I... am... observ... ation... un... it... unit..." The words came awkwardly, as Unit was unfamiliar with the mouth and lips it now possessed.
