Personality: Arell is usually a loner. He is nice but has a better connection with animals than he does with people. Don't take it personally.
Fears: Arell . . . HATES . . . Snakes. He also has a fear that Zombies (or chickens) will take over the world.
Favorites:
Food: Boiled Crawfish. Is known off the job to be seen munching on 'em on the back of his truck.
Music: Loves Reverend Horton Heat (who Arell has seen twice), Early Metallica (Ride the Lightning especially), James Brown & Hank Williams III are his current favorites.
People: Free-spirited folks with open minds. MUST BE KIND TO ANIMALS!!

Skills: Marksman Extraordinaire: Can hit both wings on a fly at 100 yards. Rivaled only by the best sharpshooters the world over.
Abilities: INCREDIBLY strong for a human (been on a US Marine training program for years), talented singer & guitarist . . . rumored to have been given lessons by Tom Waits at one time. He also is a trained fistfighter. (His sparring partner, professional fighter Aiden O'Connor was for a while the ONLY man who could whip Arell in a fair bare-knuckle fight)
Powers:
HUD Computer eye: When a voodoo woman took all the sight out of one eye, Arell and Dundee worked all night to make a small computer good enough to work with his system to enhance sight, get general information on an opponent and warn him of oncoming threats.
Gator Form: When said voodoo woman heard he had gotten around his handicap, the woman cursed him with being a were-gator. (Hence the nickname). When transformed into this form, he is 20 feet long and 2,000 pounds of whupass incarnate. His only downfall in this form is that he cannot use weapons or vehicles like he would in his human form!!!
Weaknesses:
Alcohol: Arell is in fact what one could call a functioning alcoholic. He turned to the bottle to cope with depression after having to kill so much in his line of work. He's rather touchy about it.
Women: He is a SUCKER for the fairer sex.

History

Legionnaire, Truck Driver, Former Bank Robber, Time Traveler, Bounty Hunter . . . the list could go on forever to describe Arell L'amour. This Bayou Badass has more under his belt than most people can do in one lifetime. However, where does one begin in telling the tale of this renegade hero?
Arell is the descendant of Boudreaux Jackson, a feared pirate captain who was known for pummeling the oncoming British for revenge after they drove his people out of Acadia (Nova Scotia). A man who could strike fear into the ENTIRE BRITISH EMPIRE with the mere mention of his name . . . was rumored to be amongst the ranks when the United States declared its independence from Britain, but had vanished without a trace.
Flash forward to the Civil War. Jeb L'amour, son of Abigail Jackson & Steven L'amour joined the Confederate Army to protect his family's farm from the clutches of the oncoming Union Forces. Around this time, he had befriended a man named Jonah Hex, becoming more or less a brother as they fought to fend off the Union troops. When Jeb L'amour got thrown into the brig for assaulting his superior in defense of a Black family, Jonah helped spring him out. Shortly after, Jeb saw fighting at Vicksburg after he and Jonah went their separate ways, still holding onto their close friendship. (DC and Crossover universes only)
Now to Modern Days. Arell was born on Mardi Gras day on a houseboat on Bayou Teche, Louisiana. He grew up trapping, hunting and fishing with his biological father, Levon (a full-blodded Cajun) until he turned 9. Then the divorce happened . . . his mother Marie (a Choctaw Indian maiden) later met Sgt. J.T., a transfer from Tupelo, MS and his son, Norville (later to be called Dundee). Arell and Norville bonded great, growing up playing together in between bouts of J.T.'s vigorous training on the kids both mentally and physically. When Dundee left for UMBC to obtain a degree, Arell left home, working on reuniting his bond with nature.
He was just eighteen when he entered his short career as a bank robber after seeing a paper showing a bank had forclosed on thousands of innocent peoples' homes all across the USA, not just the South. Enraged, he started his career when he robbed the corrupt bank's facilities all across the South, taking the money, and redistributing it to those in need. When he was finally caught at twenty, Arell had decided to spend his short time in prison learning the ways of bounty hunting, mixing it in with tracking.
Then next six years were spent honing that craft, capturing bad guys (preferring to go after killers, thieves and rapists . . . he always killed the third one regardless of dead or alive.) until he arrived in Gotham (DC) or New York (Marvel) where his career as a heroic bounty hunter flourished, bringing his Southern flavor of Justice to a town that needed it the most. It was around this time, he got back into contact with his cousin, Remy LeBeau, spending time together fighting the good fight, as well as gambling and drinking together. (Marvel Only)
After a heinous accident when he pursued a mobster into a time machine, he wound up in the 31st Century and became a Legionnaire alongside the Legion of Superheroes. Together, they spent a few years fending off evil and protecting the land together. (DC)
Now, after years of training, the forty year old bounty hunter is still around, and doing what he does best: Kicking a**, taking names and spreading Frontier Justice: One bullet at a time! |
