I think it depends on the person. I call my two best friends my wife and it hasn't change our relationship at all. So for this person to call you their wife it could mean a great deal of trust that you've gain and they can't picture their life without you. But all of this is in a non sexual way fyi.

Like Celes Le Fey said, it depends on the person. If she is your girlfriend (as in you two are dating), it probably means she wants to marry you, or see the far future of you two being together (as in married most likely). If the girl is just a best friend /friend, she really loves you and trusts you. This is just my opinion on this, hope it helps. The other comments are very helpful, so don't ignore them! blaugh
