Greetings Citizen,

You have been chosen by an agent of the Emperor's Most Holy Inquisition to assist in a matter of great importance to the Imperium. It has been decided that your skills and expertise would be better served under the employment of the Inquisition. Acceptance is mandatory, refusal will result in your execution.

Enclosed with this letter is an Ident card. Your instructions are to immediately make you way to the nearest space port and present it to Customs officials or Naval personnel, they will show you to a shuttle which you are to board. You will then be taken to the Inquisitorial ship 'Liberator Iustitiae' where you will be put into stasis until such time that you are required. Then you will meet your employer and receive further instructions.

Do not tell anyone of this message, failure to do so will result in your execution. Pack lightly, your failure to arrive at the space dock by sundown will result in your execution.

Consider this your first test.

Ave Imperator!

The story so far:
Our characters have received their summons and reported for duty on board the Liberator Iustitiae. After a shakey intorduction the Characters face their first challenge; the partial collapse of the ship's Gellar Field in their section of the ship has caused the creatures of the Warp to begin to materialize (this was done intentionally by Inquisitor Helghast - to test the team). Lesser willed members of the crew have either been driven insane or have been corrupted by the Immaterium. The team have been reunited with their equipment and some extra goodies and are now heading to the nearest hangar bay where Inquisitor Helghast will be waiting for them.

Rex Kreiger, Arbites enforcer for over twenty years; friend to few and enemy to many sat at his desk in the Arbite Precinct and just stared at the letter in front of him.
He reached for his bottle of Amnesac and was frustrated to find it empty. The case he had been working on, the one that was going to lock up that smug upper hive aristocrat b*****d Montane would be ruined now.
No one in the precinct wanted to touch the case, it would mean the death of their career or possibly themselves. It didn't matter to Kreiger, his career was finished over a decade ago, he would never be promoted, never gain anything more than what he had and would probably be dead before too long; the bounty was pretty good last time he checked.
The man he was pursuing was the son of the most powerful noble house on Premora Hive and he had a taste for killing young girls from the lower hive, after fulfilling his sick sexual fantasies. The man was a menace, but he was careful. Never had he left anything at one of his scenes that would identify him as the culprit, there just wasn't enough evidence to confirm his guilt. But Kreiger knew he was guilty, he was so close to closing the case.
The letter from the Inquisition couldn't have come at a worse time.

He swore loudly before launching the empty bottle of Amnesac at the wall. The sound turned several heads but Kreiger ignored them as he rose to his feet and headed out of the office.
He made his way down to the armoury and checked out his usual gear, a las pistol, combat shotgun and shock maul; holstering them before fastening up his helmet and heading out to the vehicle pool. He climbed into an Arbites skimmer and headed out into the Hive.
He checked his chronometer, he had a few standard hours before sundown, there would be enough time to make it to the Spaceport.
His mind wandered as he drove through the hive streets, he had once been a promising young Arbite with a glittering career ahead of him. That had all come to an end when he became involved in a corruption investigation into some upper hive nobles who were trading in illegal artefacts. The case had collapsed due to lack of sufficient evidence and Kreiger had been blamed. Since then he had been s**t-canned to the worst precinct on Premora and told he would never get past his current rank. His chances of making Judge were finished. Since then he had borne a grudge against the Hive Elite. It sickened him that they thought they could get away with flaunting the Emperor's law. He had thrown himself into anti corruption investigations with righteous zeal, any time a noble was suspected Kreiger would be there, poking around trying to prove their guilt.
He had chalked up six arrests and three executions so far and this had done nothing to improve his reputation with the upper hive. His commanders were weary of the multitude of complaints from rich Hive nobles and their extended families going on about Kreiger's lack of respect and often hostile methods.
Kreiger didn't care any more, not that it mattered now anyway.

As he drove along he scanned the streets, it would probably be the last time he would see his home-world. Was that nostalgia he was feeling?
Before he could ponder on this his eye caught something that was out of place in this area of the Hive.
Two men stood outside a hab unit smoking lho sticks whilst talking. That in itself wasn't unusual, down here narcotics were the norm for most. But these two were far too clean for this part of town. Kreiger looked them up and down as he slowed down, they were definitely armed.
He stopped his skimmer across the other side of the street and climbed out. As he walked towards the two men they slowly turned to face him.
'Arbite' One of them said, 'What brings you down this area of Premora? Looking for some action? I hear the girls round here will do anything for a few Throne Geld'
'And what prey tell are you two upper hive thugs doing down here? Where's your master? He in there?' Kreiger said pointing to the hab unit behind them.
The two thugs shared a look, 'You ******** Arbite scum! Always asking too many questions.' One of them said before reaching for a weapon.
Kreiger shot him dead with lightening fast reflexes before pointing his las pistol at the other man and shooting him in the face.
He holstered his pistol and drew his shotgun, kicking open the door the scene inside was abhorrent. A young girl was strung up by rope whilst a wiry young man in churgeon robes was working on her with a scalpel. The smell of cooking human flesh was rife.
The man looked round, startled at the noise. 'Hahaha it's too late for this one Arbite, she tasted divine! Would you like some?' It was Montane. 'I suppose you're going to arrest me, I won't resist. See? I'm putting down my knife, look, I'm not armed.' he said as he dropped the blade. 'My father will have me out within a week anyway, clinically insane I would imagine will be his defence for my behaviour. I'll go into a secure ward somewhere in House Verstan for a few years but I'll be out again eventually.'
Kreiger racked his shotgun, 'Not today!' he said as he fired.
Montane flew across the room, a hole the size of a fist in his chest and a startled look on his face.
Kreiger smiled as he left the scene and was still smiling as he arrived at the space port. Justice had been served.

As he boarded the flyer he took one last look at Premora, the sun was beginning to set over the upper spires; yes, it was definitely nostalgia he was feeling. He took a seat and the craft took off.
A few hours later the flyer docked with the Liberator Iustitiae and Kreiger by this time was sick of the small confines of it. He stepped out of the craft and was met by a robed female adept and a squad of storm troopers bearing the inquisitorial seal on their armour.
'Rex Krieger you are to follow me. Do not resist, do not ask questions. Obey this and these men will have no reason to kill you. Do you understand?' The woman said.

Rex looked at the men and the adept before stepping forward. 'Lead on and be done with it'

He was taken to a medical bay where a churgeon team stripped him and performed several tests on him. Finally he was sedated and put into stasis.
His last conscious thought was of the satisfaction he felt as he delivered the Emperor's justice to that fiend Montane Verstan.

Kreiger awoke with a start, he was lying naked on a bunk within the confines of a small room. Just big enough for his bunk, a storage locker and a desk; his uniform was lying folded on a stool next to him. The effects of stasis slowed his reactions and he stumbled a little as he made to stand. He dressed slowly, his joints ached from the long sleep.
His other personal effects lay on the metal desk at the other side of the room. He slowly staggered over and picked up his Chronometer. He had been in stasis for only a few months, not long in the grand scheme of things. But still, it was time he would never get back.
As he put the rest of his meagre belongings into the locker there was a knock at the door.
'Yes, what?' he said gruffly as the door slid open and a robed administratum adept appeared.

'Good morning. I will be your minder whilst you are aboard this vessel. You may not traverse the wider halls of this ship without my escort, otherwise the guards may well kill you.' He laughed quietly, 'It's not that they dislike you, but this is an inquisitorial vessel, we take security very seriously and until you become officially recognised your movements are to be restricted. You understand of course?'

Kreiger studied the man for a moment, his trained eye noticing every fine detail. He was fairly average in stature, but his robes disguised his build. The man was lean, toned, like a coiled spring. His stance, to the casual observer appeared meek and recessive, the reality was far different. Kreiger could tell the man was ready to react to any threat on his part. This was no adept from the administratum. This man was no stranger to the art of unarmed combat.

'I don't think it's the guards I need to worry about, do you?' Kreiger replied. 'So what kind of adept are you? I doubt you're one to spend hours pouring over script and slate. You put on a good charade I'll grant you, but these eyes have seen many things and know when something is amiss.' He smiled slightly as he continued to watch the 'adept'.

'Very perceptive of you Rex, I wondered why our employer chose you, now I'm beginning to understand a little. You are of course right, I am no member of the Administratum, my skills lie elsewhere. More than that you don't get to know. Yet.' The man said as he gestured for Kreiger to follow him.
Come, I'll show you to your Mess facility, stasis can bring on a ferocious appetite. You must be hungry.'

As if on cue Kreigers stomach grumbled loudly.

'Alright adept, lead on. But seeing as though you deem fit to call me by my first name how about you return the courtesy?' He said as he picked up his boots.

'Call me Zeck'

Zeck lead Rex along the corridor to a large dining hall at the end, the place was empty, there were four long tables in the centre of the room and a couple automatic food dispensers along the back wall.

'The food is basic but it has everything the body needs. This mess hall and the rooms leading into it are designated Hab unit Theta 1 Alpha, you have free access to your room, the Mess Hall and the other living quarters attached to it. Try to gain access to anywhere else and, well you know the consequences.'

Zeck headed for a door on the opposite side from where they entered. As he approached, a wall panel opened with a biometric scanner pad inside. Zeck placed his palm on the pad, the pad changed from red to green and the door slid open.
'I have to go, I have duties elsewhere, make yourself comfortable, your fellow initiates will be arriving soon.'

And with that Zeck stepped into the darkness beyond and the door slid shut behind him.

Kreiger shrugged and walked to the nearest food dispenser, Zeck was right, the menu was basic. He selected an option at random and waited for the machine to produce it's offering.
He grabbed a spoon and took the tray, sitting at one of the tables he scooped some of the food up and sniffed it. It didn't smell that bad. He slowly began to eat, the stuff was similar to the ration grade food he ate during his years at the Arbites Academy.

In short, it was s**t but it did the job.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 11, 2013 11:41 pm
The humming of the glow light panels, that stretched across the entire lengthy hallway glowed dimly and would occasionally flicker. The very space and the recycled dry air made it quite a nuisance to get use to. A group of Kelsac soldiers, broken down to just to their shirts, pants, and boots, were heaving large crates of supplies to the drop ship hangers. The group continued to carry their heavy burden as they briefly passed a dark corridor and made a turn to continue to their destination, determined to get rid of the large cargo.

A shadowy figure poked his head out from the corridor and eyed the soldiers before slowly walking down the hallway. Sergeant Kavon Sadol pulled his camo cloak about him as his las carbine, a modified MK37 Kelsac variant Carbine, was slung over his shoulder as he began to walk down the halls. His uniform, a gray uniform, with matted black flak armor, was well hidden under a dark gray camo cloak. He was always ready for anything, even a minor dispute between his men, or maybe any unsettling events that may unfold. It was also good practice to continue his skills at going undetected, even in these narrow hallways.

It was a particular habit that he continued to hone on, and it was a reason for his superiors to place him into the Recon unit. It was also a very strange decision for them to give him the Sergeant rank, and give him command of his own platoon, which was shortly lived dull to recent events. It would appear that his skills were not just praised by his superiors, but also someone far higher than all of them.

Kavon glanced down to the data slate, which had a gene-lock on it, was quite puzzled on the reassignment to some task unit. The worst part about it is the fact it was the Inquisition desiring his skill, a simple Guardsman who was a Recon trooper. However, with the threat of execution, he was not able to question these demands, and simply began to move to the shuttle bay, to embark into a particular private craft that was to take him to this Infamous 'Liberator Iustitiae.' The worst part that Kavon was going to regret about this trip, was the stasis, something that he was never able to get use to, even after the few times he had to go into such a troubling experience.

After shaking the thoughts from his head, Sergeant Sadol made his way to the hangar bay, and saw his duffle bag, which held the necessary field kits, and even his personal modified MK37 Las rifle, modified to be similar to a Long Las, but not as good, but close. There were other various uniforms that the Kelsac possessed that he also brought with him, in case of certain events. With the last checks of his equipment, Kavon boarded the shuttle and took his place int he lone passenger bay of the craft, and waited as the vessel made it's way to the Inquisition, something he would forever regret.

-----

After several hours of flight, the craft finally came to an approach to the large black sinister ship. The Kelsac trooper waited until the ship finally docked and the ramp was finally lowering. Kavon collected his gear and began to walk down the ramp, just to be stopped by a number of dark stormtroopers, and what appeared to be some kind of priest, or scholar. He was addressed his rank and position, before briefly ordered to relinquish is weapons, and his gear, and follow the men to his stasis chamber.

After putting his las carbine into safe, he slowly handed it to one profound hand and slowly began to pull out two knives, one was his Kelsac bayonet blade, as the other was a trophy he gained from his events on the Sergan Civil War. It was a elegant two-sided blade was curved on the middle of it to give it a deadly form. After the knives were give up, he slowly handed his service las pistol to the next guard. He then began fiddle with his camo cloak, slowly unclasping it, and handed it to the guard, before he began to follow the adept, making sure to take in all details of the hallways, and doors, identifying weaknesses, escapes, and even danger. Even if he was on a Inquisition ship, it didn't hurt to make a mental map of the entire ship to know where to go when trouble arises.

When he was finally brought to the stasis bed, he was given several shots, and his medical records were reviewed before he was finally put to sleep, to rest with no dreams, and only the conscious thought of what he was going to go through.

---------

After three months of stasis, Kavon was woken up with a startle, having been thought dead by the medics who were about tot attempt to revive him. The sergeant was quick to sit up, but found that was a decision he would forget as his head began to throb with pain and his vision swam. He took several deep breaths as he tried to recollect on what all just happened. He then slowly looked about as he tried to take in everything, but saw that only made matters worst. Before he could realize what he was doing, he was all ready leaning over the edge of the bed, and was vomiting his stomach empty. He groaned as he felt so sick, and weak after the long forceful sleep he endured. It was a miracle he even was awake right now. Normally he would pass out from such strain on his body. He slowly collapsed onto the floor, and slowly tried to regain his balance, which was difficult, even with the aid of adept and several medics.

The process of Sergeant Sadol to regain his balance and his strength, took a good thirty minutes before he was feebly walking again. It took him only a few minutes to put on his light brown Kelsac khaki uniform, the standard field uniform used for normal occasions. He followed the robed Adept, who was a female, down the hallway. "I must say... You gave us all a scare. We thought you would have died all ready. We never thought your case of the stasis was so extreme. I will be sure to tell my master of this situation." Kavon gave the woman as drawn out glare before he began to study his location, and intake more information for his mental map. "I am certain he would enjoy being forced into sleep for a few months, and then puke out his stomach."

The adept stared at him with no emotion, as if ignoring his remark about her leader. She then led him into the mess hall. "Well then, if you insist, we will discuss matters later on. Now, I am certain you will want to give your body food, since you involuntarily expelled it. You will eat in here, and wait as the rest of the group is collected from their respectable chambers. And do not wander off, even if you won't get lost, we will be sure to find you and execute you for attempting to escape." Kavon glared at the woman as she knew what he been doing the entire time, but then again, they picked him because of these reasons. He knew how to track his location, and to find ways to move about people without notice. They may also have a way to track him, even when he can not see it. He then nodded tot he woman as he moved to the dispenser, which was rather odd for him. He was much use to a line, which was always made by some grubby chefs who made food with the most unique, and tasteless foods, even more bland than the packed rations they would eat on the field.

After collecting his plate, Kavon made his way to a table, sitting on the exact opposite of the strange old man, who was dressed as a Arbites Enforcer, which was odd to be apart of the group, but then again, he might actually be apart of the Inquisition and be one of the ones pulling the strings. Sergeant Sadol studied the man as would keep his eye on him. The old man would seem experienced indeed, but was also troubling as his appearance was like one of those you would have to watch your back on, or you might just find yourself lying in a ditch dead. Kavon continued to eat his meal quietly as he wondered how many others would be joining them on this insane group.

Kreiger looked up as the door opened. A robed adept led a soldier in and directed him to the food dispenser before departing through the same gene-locked door Zeck had used.

He waited for the newcomer to sit down, keeping a steely eye on him as approached.
's**t, I could hear you puking from here!' he said with a sly grin. 'Something tells me I think we're going to have to get used to it.'
He stood up and offered the stranger his hand.
'The name's Kreiger, Enforcer of the Adeptus Arbites on Premora Hive, well that was until all this...' He said as he waved a hand at the surroundings.

He studied the soldier's uniform, 'Where you from then? I don't recognize your uniform.'

Just like him, the Enforcer was studying him. Maybe sizing him up and see if he was worth keeping. He was quiet as he heard the man's remarks of his earlier reactions. He then gave a grunt of discomfort of being this aged person's entertainment. "I am sure if you were being considered dead by the medical personnel, and on the verge of being revived, you would have vomited your insides."

He them saw the old man stand up to his feet and offer his hand, which he slowly took. He held the man's hand firmly, just to see how well built he was. Even for his appearance of being old, his physical health was another story.

"Sergeant Kavon Sadol, of the 4th Kelsac Regiment, 13th Recon Platoon." He stated as he did not stand, because it would give the man a better chance to observe his physical being. He could tell this man's perception of someone's physical was quite impressive, just like Sadol's sense of direction and his ability to remember paths and maps easily. It would seem someone in the Inquisition was needing their various skills for a task.

"My home world is Vidal Prime, a very long way from here." He was looking around carefully, taking n the details of the room and the various doorways. He could tell the room was thought of well, but it held a few weaknesses. He was certain there was a hidden back door somewhere along the walls to allow storm troopers to storm in if there was trouble, and there was also the ventilation to consider.

After finishing he memorization, he looked at the Arbiter and studied him. "So, I take it they haven't told you why they called for us, huh?" He asked as he was curious if this man was some kind of informant, or the man pulling these strings.

Kreiger laughed, 'Yeah, stasis is a b***h.'

He watched Sadol scanning the room, 'Save your energy, they're not here to kill us. They would have done that earlier it that were the case. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough what job they want us to perfom. I hear once you get chosen by the Inquisition you can never return. Suits me fine.'

He reached into his pocket and brought out a pack of Lho sticks, he took one and lit it before offering one to Sadol.

'Smoke?'

Kavon looked at the man as he was telling the truth on some aspects. When you were selected by the Inquisition, you were fated to never return to a normal life. That was something the young Sergeant as planning to avoid. He then looked to the familiar smelling lho sticks and sighed as he shook his head no to that.

"Sorry, but I actually value my life on the matter. That stuff will eventually kill you." He said as he then sighed. He actually was one of those to avoid the burning tobacco from filling his body. He actually was more of a drinker than anything, but he would not let it get too out of control. He just hoped the private canteen of a special home-brewed sacra-jin, a personal favorite of the Kelsac, was not confiscated.

Kreiger shrugged and returned the pack of Lho sticks to his pocket. 'We each have our vices.' He said before drawing on the stick.
He smiled as the smoke filled his lungs, relishing the rush the of the stimulant as it entered his blood stream.
'Of all the things that can kill you out there cancer is a pretty easy way out, hell, I'll just get Biotic lungs if it comes to it.'

He exhaled the smoke over his shoulder and chuckled when he heard the air filtration system kick up a gear, the smoke was quickly drawn up into the ducts and would be cleansed from the air by scrubbers somewhere in the ship.
'You gotta love Voiders, they have some pretty awesome tech.

"Waste my energy? All I am simply doing is tracking the locations of possible entrances and such, places that the guards might come through should trouble arise. You have to understand I am simply making a note of which way to go should I have to head somewhere." He stated as he then sighed as he leaned back in his chair. it was a wonder he was all ready able to retain the passageways he took from the hanger bay, the Ministorum locker room, a barracks that possibly belonged to one of the stromtrooper units, as well as his chambers. Though, his sense of direction of the ship may be a little off, but it would not take much to not find the hidden details that could be his 'bread crumbs' to follow.

He been practicing this skill for many years, learning how to track anything, and to find his way through a maze. it did not take much to see with a well trained eye, even a enemy who is ducking between cover, through the lens of a scope attached to a las rifle, or even a sniper rifle, seeking to eliminate a target. All simple skills that take time to learn.

There is one thing that did made Kavon unsettled, and that was the lack of his personal weapons, his knives, and either his carbine or rifle, both prized for their modification for his standards.

A Klaxon sounds and you hear the sound of crew running along the corridors.

All hands to Action Stations! All hands to Action Stations!
Liberator Iustitiae preparing to enter the Immaterium!

The gene sealed door to the mess hall opens and four storm troopers step in and fan out to flank the entrance. They level their guns at you.

'Stay where you are, this is just a precaution.' One of the guards says to you.

PostPosted: Wed Feb 13, 2013 4:50 pm
Kreiger spun round when the door opened, reaching for a gun that wasn't there
Damn I feel naked he thought to himself at the Stormtroopers filed in.

'Easy there fellas, don't do anything hasty. Trust me when I say I am not the
enemy, and I have no way of being a threat. 'Cos you smart asses took my
weapons.'
He said as he took a seat.

'I'm about as dangerous as a Grox herder right now, just without the smell'

That wasn't entirely true, Kreiger was well versed in unarmed combat, one didn't
survive long as an Arbite Enforcer without it.

Kavon was about to add something when the alarms suddenly began to scream, filling his ears with defeaning noise. He looked down, noticing the doorway opening, and the sound of ringing boots. He glanced over to see four fully armored stormtroopers, fitted with some of the finest armor, carapace armor, and with some of the finest weapons, hellguns, as well as a few combat shotguns.

Their discipline and training was quite remarkable, for top grade soldiers. He seen these type of men, and they were good. He could tell they were ready for this, and they were watching. The sergeant made no moves as he simply relaxed. There was no way he could take on four of them by himself, maybe two, but unarmed, he would be lucky to take one out. He would just have to play nice and wait to see what will happen.

((Here's your opening for your Character))

As the alarms blared, a pair of adepts dragged in a man wearing Elsian Drop trooper uniform.

'He is clear of any taint' One of the adepts says to the guards as they dump him on the floor and leave.
'He'll wake up any second'

Kinkaid slowly felt his mind creeping back to consciousnesses with the sound of alarms blaring and an automated voice began to repeat a call to arms. Alarms he out of pure reflex he began to grope around first around his chest and then at his waist hands reaching for weapons that obviously were no longer there. it was then that he finally became fully aware of just where he was and who he was with.

it was enough to make Kinkaid blink. two men both unarmed, were both staring at the Very well equipped and from the unerring hold they had on there Hellguns, well trained storm troopers. One of which trained his weapon on him. " Join the others." the soldier said through his rebreather mask.

since he did not feel like getting killed just yet, Kinkaid nodded and made his way to the other men. one who he could now see was older than he and the other was younger. he could tell that both of them were trained in combat. they had that look about them. " So... any idea what the situation is gentlemen? I seem to be a bit... behind." he asked his tone deceptively light but his eyes kept on flickering over to the guards, assessing, calculating and waiting.
