Malcolm's breeding projects had been largely successful; however, there was one that went... Well, terribly wrong. While the Creeping Shrubbery minipet started off as a normal-sized minipet like the rest of its litter, it somehow got into a batch of special "experimental" speed-growth Fear Candy, and had mutated into some sort of a giant Creeping Shrubbery not-so-minipet.
While not exactly hostile or dangerous, it caused the professor some headache; since it had been relocated to his private Minipet Reserve, the not-so-minipet had been trampling and squishing the minipets in its path... On accident.
It might also be destroying some foliage, among other things.
Therefore, the idea of recruiting students to help with his "problem" sounded like a good solution. He would get the Creeping Shrubbery back to minipet size, and the students who helped would get promoted from Knob to Hob status. After the students had arrived, he explained the situation, and then led them to the back of the class, where two frying pans were on top of a stove that had been placed on two separate desks. Each desk was filled with bowls of ingredients.
"So, your first task is to make as many 'counter' Fear Candies as you can," He held up a small, round purple pill, "Basically, I have prepared 3 batches of ingredients for each of you, with each batch on a separate tray. Just add the prepared ingredients together, cook on medium heat until it turns purple and firm, divide the mixture into five parts, and roll each part into a pill. Once off the pan, it will start to harden, so do it quick... The rolling process is very important! If you don't do it fast enough, it will ruin the candy."
Exam Mechanics -> You start off with enough ingredients to make 3 batches of Fear Candies. -> Each batch can wield up to 3 Fear Candy. -> So, Fear Candy-wise, the maximum you can get = 9 , the minimum = 0. -> Don't define the ingredients, just toss them in, k. There are 4 different bowls/ingredients together.
Mixing a Batch: 1d10 ICly, just RP your character dumping all the ingredients into the pan, cooking/stirring it, and turning the heat off when the mixture turn purple. It feels a little sticky/semi-solid to the touch, and will harden/solidify/become not-sticky as it cools down. Odd : Cooked well! Move onto next part! Even : Failed batch! Discard the mixture; if you have another batch left, redo!
Rolling a Batch: 1d20 ICly, your character had divided the mixture up, and is rolling each part into a Fear Candy. Remember, each Batch has 3 parts! Odd : Success! Even : Failure!

It was time. Shun wasn't sure what to expect of this exam. The last time he had an exam with Malcom, he had to fetch bits of paper from invisible dogs. He could only assume that things would be more difficult this time around, seeing how it was a higher level of testing. Regardless, he was determined to do his best with this. It was, in the very least, a way for him to gauge how much he had improved. If at all.
Making his way into the examination room, thankfully not getting himself mixed up on the room numbers and whatnot, he noticed that there were no others in here right now. If others were taking an exam as well, they would no doubt show up soon.
In any case, he listened carefully to the instructions, raising an eyebrow as it involved a bit of cooking in a sense. Well, he was capable of cooking basic things. As long as he had the instructions, it shouldn't be too hard. Even so, he had to wonder what these fear candies were needed for. Malcom had referred to them as 'counter' candies after all. Stepping up towards the table, he looked over the various ingredients laid out. There wasn't too much here, so most likely there weren't going to be many others showing up.
Shrugging, he decided to not dally about and went ahead and took one set of ingredients and started to mix them up in the bowl one by one. It was simple enough. He stirred it carefully, waiting for the mixture to turn purple and for it to reach the correct consistency.
