The Apocalypse

The pale horseman, Death, rides over the barren land
The earth thirsts for rain
But we have taken it away
To weep for the fallen human race
Death’s cold hand sweeps over all that is living
And soon they sicken
And whither
Into nothing

The sky is black
The world is dark
The mornings are cold

No comfort is to be received until the horseman
Dear horseman
Comes knocking on our door
And if he should so choose to pass us by without a visit
We will get to see the rain again
The rain that burns
And scorches
And torments the earth
When we are already parched
And there is nothing to drink

The night and day both intertwine
And merge until all that is left
Is a vast emptiness
That we have brought on ourselves

And no one
Not even the pale rider
Can be blamed
