I remember walking up to my friend's house one day
He lives up on a hill, past a train station and a park where no one plays at
I used to build tree forts where that park is, though I don't anymore
They cut the trees down along with many of my memories
And in turn placed a cold concrete structure there
Now I must have made this walk a million times, always the same
Though, each time it changed my beliefs and views of the world
You see, it's roughly a 3 mile walk, all of which is through the poorer sections of town
It's usually a silent walk that shows the true-er nature of this place
A town with a facade of hope but a face of despair
A factory that just closed it's doors and now a family not able to buy dinner
An abused child, now a drop-out and on the run cause he's not wanted at home
Cops sitting in their run down cars, letting criminals go, the City doesn't care, why should they
Un-believable what one can see on a short 3 mile walk,
I dunno anymore, I've seen so much,
So many faces, so many lifestyles and people looking for something other than themselves
3 miles doesn't do it justice, I can say I've walked 3 but in reality I've witnessed a million
