VLC help?

I hate using you guys like the Computer and Technology forum, but that forum didn't help much either. As in, no responses. If anyone can help, great! If not, the thread will die a just death.

I downloaded VLC version 2.0, after my last version was just such a mess that it wouldn't work anymore. I've been trying to make gifs and therefore been screen capping. With the previous version, I just used the method of holding down the screenshot button until I got the stills I needed. One might be skeptical, but it captured frame by frame and would make smooth gifs (I'm still getting the hang of making those).

With this version, however, when I do the same, it skips frames. For example, it goes from 17 to 20 and flipping through my caps I could tell making gifs out of these wasn't going to work.

So, my question is: is skipping frames new to 2.0, and it is something I can tweak? Or is there something in my settings causing capping to capture only every other frame?

Extra info: I have managed to set up autocapping on it hoping that would work better, but it does the same skipping frames problem. I think it's the program, not me.

do you have the CCCP installed? i never had to use VLC with it

Try CCCP.
It's better for everything in terms of actually watching things.

Though I have no clue about your actual problem there.
You could always try uninstalling it and re-installing it.
