Talymn Vylius, ladies and grubs! No need to remember his name, but rather you’d best hope wish BEG that he remember yours because he’s going to be the next hottest thing since volcanoes first learned to erupt. This troll has his sights set on ultimate glory and fame throughout the known universe and he fully believes he has the skill and temperament to claim that what he already feels was given to him as a hatchright.
Through the fierce melodic screaming of his keytar, he could send waves of Red Passion that would make the very Heavens tremble and swoon or cause all Demonic Entities to awaken and bring forth the fires of Chaos to engulf existence with his Pitch Black lamentations… Or so he hopes to accomplish one day.
With an overbearing stage persona in mind, Talymn holds himself to some ridiculously high standards. So much so that it’s even crippled his self esteem. When he’s by himself, he’ll be studying, composing, and practicing his musical talents, and even though the general public would receive his works with high spirits, something inside will constantly tell him he’s not doing enough and that’s when the frustrated depression will set in.
Aside from beating himself up internally over a botched practise session, his showy façade and near limitless bravado can only be broken when he’s pitted against another in a true match of strength. Words and song are his preferred weapons of choice, but when it comes to fisticuffs, he’d be more inclined to absconding rather than taking a swing at his opponent, or worse, taking a hit. Fortunately, his lusus is usually hanging around and is more than happy to help do most of the fighting for him, but when push comes to shove (comes to sledgehammer comes to wrecking ball), Talymn himself will go full-out in a last ditch effort; Or if you managed to piss him off that much.
Strengths:
Cultured- In his free time, if he isn’t practising, sleeping, or doing anything else considerably mundane, you’ll find Talymn with his head in a book reading up on everything related to troll history, mythology, politics, and music. The information and historic events he learns about are then put to use as inspiration for songs and metal ballads he composes. His intensive studying gives him a veritable knowledge in a wide variety of topics, however, getting him to show off his book-smarts will require some work. Prove to him that you've acquired something worthwhile in your cranial-residue and you may find yourself an engaging conversation or two.
Calculating- Though he may look bored out of his mind whenever he loses the spotlight, this troll is constantly thinking and analysing his surroundings, searching for that one opportunity to gain it all back. Hand-in-hand with his studious nature, he remains attentive of everything going on around him, even when he’s caught up in the fury of an inspired, spastic solo. Reading the fans and their reactions is key to a performer's ratings and if he can't get more than half the room riled up in one way or another, then he may as well be playing in a ditch out in the middle of Yousuckville. This is even more evident in the event of you being lucky enough to having some one-on-one time as he'll be posing questions and judging your responses for any traits he may deem valuable enough to pursue.
Dedicated- A musician through and through, his music comes before all else. He's always looking for ways to improve himself and elevate the experience that his music can inspire. The music is what drives him; it is his matesprit, his kismesis, his mediator and his moirail and while this may put the trolls who actually fulfill the physical embodiment of his quadrants at a disadvantage, he won't ever be fickle with them as they'll also be serving as his muses in their own way.
Flaws:
Perfectionist- A perfectionist of the worst kind, his standards set the bar ridiculously high when it comes to his work, thus he is prone to wallow in self doubt and disappointment when he can’t get something right on the very first try. No matter how well others may receive his music, any and all praise will be falling on deaf ears if he isn’t happy with it. He’d even go so far as to allow others to take credit for a song and that’s only to make up for the amount of time he spent on the piece. While he may pretend to take the advice and encouragement from others into consideration, he truly will not accept anyone else’s approval until after he’s approved it himself.
Vain- If there’s one thing that can match his love for music, it’s his love for himself. He holds a pretty high standard for grooming and style which contrasts quite a bit with his current Grunge Rock look. If it takes you three hours to get your hair to look perfectly messy, somebody ought to smack you over the head with a curling iron, but such things require minute detailing when thousands will be admiring every inch of you later. So be wary, if one insults his looks or worse, actually mar his features in any way, shape or form, they’ll soon regret having had limbs in the first place.
Glass Cannon- For all of his boisterous and showy shenanigans on and off stage, he is actually a pretty fragile wimp. If he were ever a knight of the Cavalreapers, he'd be the guy to charge headlong into another's lance and then slide off the hoofbeast at the last second and hope he doesn't bruise during the fall. Which is to say he would make a terrible Cavalreaper. His aversion to physical pain and possible disfigurement is so strong that he'd just as soon back down from a fight as he would cause one. This all stems from his inability to wield anything more complicated than a wooden club. Back in the caverns, “TALYMN SMASH!” worked pretty damn well in assuring his survival, but out in the real world, the added steps of “TALYMN SMASH! -THEN DODGE! …. THEN COUNTER-ATTACK!” didn't. Understanding the principle is a lot different than actually performing it and he's since decided to leave all the heavy-handed fighting to his lusus. That, however, doesn't mean he isn't above under-handed tactics such as double-teaming and even ambushes, but if he can't make you stay down afterward, you're golden.
