Now that I'm done with that, I was wondering if I could get some help with some recommendations. I've heard Bokurano and Star Driver are good, I've been meaning to rewatch Betterman, as I've forgotten most of the plot, and I'm in the middle of Negima?! What did those of you who watched them think of these shows?

I've read all of the Bokurano manga, but I only watched part of the anime. Most summaries give away what happens to the pilots so you probably know what to expect; if you somehow avoided it I'll just say don't start the series if you want something happy. Otherwise I'll give it a recommendation.
As for the anime, the director mentioned midway through that he hated the original manga and was going to be changing things. From what I've heard (and what I did watch) it keeps a similar tone but changes several of the battles. If you don't want deviation from the source material this is the wrong series to watch.
Star Driver is on my radar since it has the same writer as Utena, but I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet.

i started watching star driver, though i was more focused on takuto's bum than on the plot. also i didn't really like the mecha designs so. i tried watching negima as well but i just can't get behind that whole genius-ten-year-old-is-teaching-a-bunch-of-kids-twice-their-age theme, also i don't like harem anime so. there's way too many panty shots in the first few episodes alone, and not enough plot imo.
and idk about the other ones, never heard of em.
