Ravenclaw Quidditch Practice: Team Posted! [[Oct-Dec 23]]

Shina immediately mounted her chosen broom and kicked off. Eyes locked on the mock-snitch, hands locked on the handle of her broom, Shina shot after the small orb. Her small form gave her greater agility and speed than an older student would have, but riding a school broom she had never touched before was a definite handicap. She drew close, reached, and-darn! The snitch darted to the left, and Shina missed her grab.

((OOC: Do I double post, or wait for someone to respond? Three tries means three rolls and three posts, I assume... ))

Shina swiveled her hips sharply, dropping the left side almost under her as the right side snapped up. The tail of the broom swept to the right with a sharp swish, leaving Shina facing the escaping snitch. Leaning forwards, Shina sped towards the elusive orb again.

Shina kept tight on the trail of the snitch, following it's movements closely. At one point this meant a backwards somersault with a half-twist to right herself after the snitch darted backwards just out of reach over her head. Closer, closer, and...the snitch plummeted straight down. Shina followed, intent on the snitch. Then a flash of red caught her eye, and Shina pulled up, landing lightly on the grass. The snitch had returned to Phinelia. Her Seeker tryout was over.

The will of the ball was strongly transmitted into the object through her cast charm, swirling it in all directions and attempting the recreation of the haunting mentality the real thing always had in its magical existence. Bring up and sharp turns as often as there were wide angles. Phi's eyes keenly watched the thing as she commanded it but also on the young girl driving after it. Brows raising and jumping and smiles forming at the details of her flying and manoeuvres. Concentration beaming from her person that never ended even when she landed herself back on the ground and knew her trial had ended even with the lack of catching the thing. Phi beamed to her young friend and nodded with light understanding and silent offer for the girl to either practice with Chase and Rosemarie or to attempt her flying privately further in the air space.
Turning back then and bringing forth, "O'Malley! Next up." the small ball already positioned and awaiting the next chase.

The young redhead saluted Phi before mounting her Firebolt "Aye, aye Captain!" Cat pushed off from the ground, rocketing up into the air. She pulled a loop to get re-used to flying before she settled down and located the small ball. Shina had done a very good job, and Cat knew she'd have to work hard to beat her. She sat and watched as Phi played with the ball, readying her strategy. As soon as she was ready, she shot forward, reaching towards it...

SHarp molten eyes were again trained in part on the training object under her command, but mostly on the redhead who now sped through the air with experienced technique and wafting determination. Missing the ball in her attempts as Shina had missed, But Phi's smile showed she was impressed and registering of the details she had observed.
"Fantastic you two, thank you! Tristain Raines." she offered the girl her chance, seeing the eagerness in the younger eyes as much as she felt it bursting in her chest. Attempting to keep her smirk off her face as she began the third and final Seeker tryout with the youngest Raines.

Shina watched the second girl try out while sitting on her broom, drifting back and forth to get a feel for the broom under her. The older girl seemed very confident, though she was also unable to catch the snitch. One more girl to try out for seeker. Shina looked to the second year, waiting to see how that girl's trial would go.

Tristain watched intently as the first year fled back and forth across the sky, racing against gravity in search of the snitch. Although she didn't manage to get her fingers around the feisty golden ball, Tris couldn't help but admit that the girl had skill.

Quickly after, Cathryn mounted her broom and followed suit, and when she competed just as well, the Ravenclaw had to build her confidence back up to keep herself off the edge of having an anxiety attack.

When Phi called her name, a pulse of adrenaline ran through her veins, racing to her heart and making it beat ten fold. Nodding to the captain, she swung her right leg over her Nimbus and pushed off into air, her lips growing into a wide smile as the wind whipped her blonde locks wildly about her face.

As she ascended above the by-standers, Tristain kept her eyes locked on the snitch, having never let it out of her sight. In attempt to switch things up on the tricky little ball, she rose high above it before suddenly reversing directions and diving straight towards the ground.

As she closed in, just a few feet away from it now, she twisted her body and broom to the left, pulling herself into a spiraling corkscrew dive as she reached out her pale, determined hand and tried to enclose it around the snitch.

Just as Tristain's fingers made contact with the ball, it suddenly changed course and began to fly parallel with the ground, narrowly escaping the girl's clutches. "Oh, you've got to be bloody kidding me..." she cursed to herself in annoyance, pulling up on the nose of her broom and flying just a few feet above the ground now.

Still filled with her unbreakable determination, Tristain decided to try an opposite maneuver this time, by coming at the snitch from below. She weaved back and forth about twenty feet underneath it, keeping parallel with both it and the ground.

When they reached the middle of the field, she quickly began to increase her speed, guessing at the snitch's destination so that she was just a step ahead of it. When she thought her time was right, she tugged abruptly on the handle of her Nimbus, shooting straight up into the air with one hand raised, intent on capturing the ball.

Tristain timed her approach perfectly, but again, just as she closed her fingers, the snitch shot in the opposite direction, determined to remain a free ball. "Okay, I guess you're not kidding," she mumbled under breath, happy that she had gotten so close, though that only made the snitch's escape that much more heartbreaking.

With a serious look on her face now, she immediately sped after the ball, twisting, turning, and diving back and forth in hopes of confusing the snitch. When she caught up to it, she stayed right on its tail, mimicking its movements until she saw the perfect opening.

With everything she had, Tristain outstretched her arm and spread her fingers for her final chance, and increased her speed to close the small gap between her and the snitch.
