(Preamble for those who don't know this abbreviation- M and F capitalized mean adult male and female, lowercased it means the person is not a legal adult. Or, at least, before the age of 20)
First off, in general there's lot less femslash. But either way, I've noticed something. There's M/M, M/m, F/F... but there's not a whole lot of F/f. Have you noticed that? Sirius, Snape, Lucius, Remus, and a lot of other adult males get paired off with the juvie boys from ages 12 (if you're feeling chan-ish) to 19. The Potter girls, though, where are their cross-gen relationships. I mean, I've seen a few Hermione/Bellatrix fics, but for the most part, it seems like F-F relationships are less likely to cross a significant age barrier. Why is that?
It's not for lack of possibilities. We could have any of these women- Pomfrey, Trelawney, Minerva, Bellatrix, Narcissa, Molly, Grubbly-Plank
Pair up with any of the girls. But it happens so rarely. Tonks is sort of an exception since she kinda bridges the gap.
But yeah, why do you think that might be? Some of my theories are that maybe people are reluctant to have a female be the older partner in any ship (I mean when was the last time you saw F/m in any great quantity? .. R/Hr does not count* XP ), or that people believe that women will have more reservations about taking a younger lover whereas males are seen as the "just hit it, who cares, think with the pants" types.
What do you think? I'm eager to hear from you!
*Hermione started Hogwards when she was almost 12, so she is a year older than both boys.

Plenty of M/f too.
But yeah. Femslash in general is a tricky one to find, and then an older female?
Ive seen plenty with Tonks and Fluer, but not much with anyone older than that. Bella gets some creeper rape fics with Hermione sometimes though.
