Why is it so wrong to name my baby a forgin name that most people have never heard of (not unless you read manga or watch anime) I named my son ~KYO~ I love the name but my boyfreinds family is still giveing me crap about his name. It already set in papper work, and its an awsome name.
What do you guys think is it stupid to name my all American baby boy Kyo?

`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven. Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore - Society has this bizarre asphyixation with naming kids. If you don't name your kid a conventional name then oh noes they'll get picked on!!11!!1. I mean seriously, a name's a name. If people don't like it then tough s**t.
My parents gave me a Celtic Welsh name despite my family ancestry descending from Germany, Russia, Italy, and the Netherlands, and that I was born in America. Sure people made fun of it, but they also made fun of the way I looked, and that I wore glasses.
Let's face it: Being picked on is a way of life. And little kids are mostly going to be little shits. We shouldn't childproof our kids to prevent it from happening, because it'd still happen.
Quite frankly I like the name Kyo. Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!' Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

I actually was thinking of naming my son that should I have one. I am not even having a baby and my family thinks that that is a supid name... it is not detering me as to putting it up as an option I plan on pairing it with some american names becuase I want to use the name James and I want my kids to all have three names as well as their last name, so a first, two middle and then there last. If i have a girl I want to name her kagami or kotori.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. My mom has issues with the fact that I want to name my son Oliver (i'm not even pregnant, it's just something I am dead set on) because I once named my cat that when I was really little.
It doesn't matter where it came from, if you really love the name then go for it. It's your child and not theirs and they should just be glad you didn't call him something like, "Table" instead.

Actually, it's getting more and more common nowadays. Of course, some parents just can't pick names. I know a couple who named their son Material. Literally.
I'm all for uncommon names, or at least ones with uncommon spellings. I havn't given much thought to what I will name my children. I really like the name Lusandra for a girl but my fiance is a bit ehh about it. When we do pick the names though, I know it will be one we've carefully discussed about.

I think some foreign names are pretty. There are certain names I would NEVER allow my child to be given. Think my son's name will likely be Aeneas though.... Aeneas was amazing.

You can name your child whatever you want so don't listen to other people who don't like it. It isn't their child. It's yours.
Kyo is a really cute name.

I think that since it's your child that you should be able to choose the name (and of course the father have some part of the naming process as well). If you both like the name Kyo, then enjoy it.
My father named me part after a phrase (Kyrie Elesion) that means Lord, have mercy. He chose it because my mom had preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome and was hemorrhaging. My dad had to choose whether they move to same me or my mom. He, of course, chose my mom. If something happened to her, he'd raise a toddler and a newborn baby girl all on his own. He had to name me right away so I could get medicine, and he close something close to "Lord, have mercy." in a way to say have mercy on the child.
My full first name is strangely spelled and difficult to pronounce (pronounced Kheer-stihn) but I like it.

My dad is welsh and I, unfortunately, was cursed with the name "Carys" People tend to call me "Paris", "Kareese", or "Amaris" My name is pronounced "Ka-Riss" and it means to "To Love" I have a wimpy name emo People I know better call me Ryssa. I refuse to be called anything other than that.
