I've been collecting fableds for a while and I almost have enough for a deck I just need a couple key cards, but this isn't about my list. Let me explain, when I went to the weekly tournament yesterday a kid suggested that I try a "merchant fabled deck" he didn't give me any details except that it used magical merchant, I looked online, but I still can't find any real point in dumping all my fableds(that revolve around being discarded) from the deck. Can someone please explain?

Picking up cards aren't added to hand, axean. It's directly from deck to Graveyard, which is why Wulf, Lightsworn Beast would activate if sent to the Graveyard via Magical Merchant or Reasoning. Even so, it wouldn't have activated the Fabled which specifically require a "discard".

Even so, it wouldn't have activated the Fabled which specifically require a "discard". my local judge ruled that because they are first added to hand by magical mercant before being discarded, they get their effects. at least Kruz gets hers. Not sure about the others like cerburrel.

Your judge is flat out wrong.
The only difference between "picking up" and "sending" is verification of the card prior to hitting the Graveyard, which is necessary for Magical Merchant.

Lawl, ******** no. He's ABSOLUTELY wrong Axean.
FLIP: Pick up cards from the top of your Deck until you pick up a Spell Card or Trap Card. Add that card to your hand. Send the remaining cards to the Graveyard.
Why the hell would it specify to add the last card to hand if it's already in it? Hmm? Think about it for a second, then smack your head judge in the d**k.
Also, stop acting like judges don't have human faults.

Lawl, okay?
A judge ruled at Shonen Jump Edison that Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter can be Flip Summoned the same turn it's Special Summoned by Super-Nimble Mega Hamster, and that's not true.
Magical Merchant would still send, not discard, the cards, which are two completely different things. Great example as to why Dark World has never worked with Hand Destruction.
And Wulf, Lightsworn Beast still activates when sent to the Graveyard through Magical Merchant and Reasoning.
It's not what I'm saying, there is documented evidence and rulings telling you that what your head judge is saying is wrong. Further proving that local tournaments never really matter.
If you want to say your local judge ruled it so, give me a name. A known, Konami official. Your judge is wrong, and you're an idiot for believing him.

I assumed the other fabled monsters would get the same ruling. if it;'s wrong, so be it. my mistake for believeing a head judge.

Krus will NOT activate off of Merchant. Send vs Discard. It's been that way since Dark World monsters. The effect of a monster like "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" only activates when it is "discarded to the Graveyard" from the hand by a card effect. The effects of "Hand Destruction" and "Veil of Darkness" "send to the Graveyard" the cards - this is not the same as "discard to the Graveyard". Thus, if a monster like "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World" is sent to the Graveyard by these effects, then you cannot activate its effect.[7] Also, Krus is NEVER IN YOUR HAND off of Merchant.

That judge at the Edison was definately wrong, it's a game mechanic that monsters cannot change battle positions the turn they're summoned. 2. I'm not an idiot. I've fought incorrect rulings before. One judge didn't believe negate attack targetted. I fought it and won. 3. Locals do matter for those who aren't experienced enough for higher level tournaments, or just don't have the money for tier worthy decks. It's also a nice way to get packs, whether you get cash, store credit or the packs themselves for placing in the tournament.

I'm teaching you a lesson that your judge is ******** wrong. Are you kidding? Way to allow illegal play to continue in your local without challenging your judge.
Admit your mistake? Cool. Sure.
Still standing by your judge though you know the ruling is wrong? Hell no.
