Is it safe for you to be openly gay/lesbian/bi in your community?? Share some stories (good/bad) to help bring awareness to other people.

Pfft. Don't live in Utah. The only decent place for gays in this state I know of is Salt Lake City. But in the town where I live, gay people are harassed and discriminated against on a daily basis. In the Subway where I work, these two gay dudes came in and tried to order. I had to help them because the people I work with are homophobic and refused service to them.

Where I live, it is a small town with numerous churches. It's predominantly conservative. There are lots of tolerant peopletoo, but when holding hands with a girlfriend at the time, people gave us weird looks and some kids called out "DYKE!". But it's cool cause there are lots of people who support too.

Where i live, there's a lot of people (mainly girls) who SAY they're gay or bi but really aren't. they just want attention. the real gays/bisexuals are not really picked on... they're left alone more than anything else.

wow, sounds like people live in way nicer places then me. I mean if your a gay girl, no one seems to care to much i guess, but guys have it rough. i think that's why i've never meet anyone openly gay out here.

My whole town is good at keeping it low. I cant tell who bi/les/gay. And when you do find out its because of a photo and i think Really it could be truth or dare people! thats how mine went out. But i wasnt playing T/D. My friend was i guess hell not me. So I have to say we a safe i guess. Well so far i think that. Could change -shrugs-

People really don't care here, but they are kinda homophobic to an extent.

our mayor is gay. not that i care but i kinda wish he wasn't. it's only made things worse for us. we're a target up here. lots of rallies. i wish we could just be left alone.
