I've been using Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the past year or so. (A friend got it for me back then.) Anywho, I started playing around with it and I kind of got the hang of it. There's just one thing though. I've always wondered how to make images look like this. (I often play around with photoshop and make forum signatures and I've been wanting to try to make J-Rock avatars and things like that. I think these type of looks would look nice on some pictures that I have, but I can never get it like this.)

I'm sorry if this question is in the wrong section, but I read the introduction and it said Adobe Photoshop, so I thought it would be okay.

These images are from tumblr and the to give credit to the person:

So here are my questions:

-Any tutorial for this 'effect'?

-How to brighten up colors like this?

-How to do this?

Thank you for any future posts. ^_^
I would show some of my work with photoshop, but I'm still moving all my art work to my livejournal:

How much do you know about 'Levels', 'Hue/Saturation', and 'Exposure'? Those three tools might help you. :3
Don't know of any specific tutorials. Sowwy. <=) dA is a good place to look though.

I've only played around with 'Levels', 'Hue/Saturation', and 'Exposure' a couple times. Usually I play with the 'Selective Color' and 'Channel Mixer'. Thanks =)

I have cs2, I am not really sure what you are asking for help with in the 3rd one, but to make the colors brighter you increase saturation and i am pretty sure you want to play with the filters in the first picture.

If you like, I can help with these issues and whip you up a quick tut
I use gimp, but it's similar to photoshop, and I'll cross-reference it. Do you have a sample photo you'd like me to use?
