Life in ancient Egypt...it's difficult with all the dangers, like sandstorms, scorpions, and the heat. However, the gods and goddesses can live easily. Although, even with their prosperous lives, troubles still brew. A war between the gods and the mortals is growing, because the gods are angry at the humans for not sending them sacrifices or praising them. The temples have become fraught with dangers and traps, the mazes of the pyramids have become even more perilous and confusing...
How will the mortals regain the gods' approval? Will it be fighting? Or convincing?

Some of the mortals have been chosen to be servants of the gods, willingly. They gather food and other provisions, and live in small yet fine huts nearby the temple of what god they serve.

There is a place on the Realm of Mortals (earth), known as the Village of the Gods. It's a town that is centered by a giant pyramid, known as Ra's Pyramid. It's also the Temple of Ra. The town is bordered by the temples of all the other gods. Each temple is decorated with pictures and hieroglyphs representing its god, and the front entrance, on either side of the elegant staircase, is a statue of the god. The tallest tower is the god's room, with a window overlooking the town square. They are heavily guarded by guards representing the god (i.e. Anubis's guards are jackals), and knights. Inside each temple is a portal to return to the World of the Gods, but only the gods are able to get to the room in which the portal lies, and they are also heavily guarded, not just by guards and knights but by curses and other plagues of Egypt.

God or mortal: God
Name: Anubis
Mythology (for gods only): Anubis assisted in the funerary rites of the dead used to assure admittance of the dead into the underworld. Worshipped as the god of mummification, it was said that Anubis invented the process of embalming in order to preserve the body of Osiris who was briefly resurrected by Isis. Following a person’s death, it was believed that Anubis oversaw the embalming of the body, welcomed the body into the tomb, conducted the “Opening of the Mouth” ceremony, and escorted each soul to the “Field of Celestial Offerings.” During the test to determine whether a soul was worthy of entering the afterlife, Anubis monitored the Scales of Truth. This was done to preclude any deception by the gods that would condemn the soul to the unjust fate of eternal death in the belly of Ammut.
Symbol(s) (for gods only): Jackal, ox-hide hanging from a pole, embalming equipment, flail, flags.
Depiction (what the god is): Anubis is portrayed as a black dog who accompanies Isis or as a man with a jackal’s head who holds a scepter. It is thought that Anubis was portrayed as a jackal because these scavengers were often seen lurking about graves and tombs. Ancient Egyptians began the practice of elaborately decorating graves and tombs to protect the dead from desecration by jackals.
Gender: Male
Bio (optional for gods, required for mortals): He moves back and forth between the World of the Gods and the Mortal Realm. He's very neutral about the war, but he'll fight when he needs to.

Do we have to be an actual god/godess or can we make one up?

Anubis sat near his temple in his animal form, watching for any passers-by. His glowing, white eyes were fierce and bright, even in the blinding sunlight. He was guarding his temple, for a few days ago, it was raided by bandits. Mortals, he thought, and sneezed.

Bast's Servant Host was currently washing his temple wall. Her brown-ish bangs fell over her equally brown eyes. She dipped the sponge into the foamy waters, then pulling it back out to scrub the grime off of the glorious temple. She heard the sneeze, so she offered an almost silent whisper, "Benedicam". ((latin for bless you, just in care your wondering)). Her mind was (as usual) full of dream and poems. She washed the wall, whistling a little. Bast (her host name: Tsab) washed the temple perfectly clean. She was new to the job, but had always made it shine. A stray cat wandered up to her, nudging Tsab. Tsab smiled, and petted the little cat. She went back to washing, washing, washing.
Every so often she would dunk the sponge back under
it almost made a soft tune:

Shkk (rough sponge sliding)

Shkk-Shk-

Duush (dunked)

(softly, wringing excess water out) eshh

Shkk

Shkk-Shk

Duush

.....She went along, all the time hearing the hidden song in her work.

Anubis's black-blue ears twitched as a faint, hot, dry wind blew. He yawned, and got up and walked inside, changing into his god form. He walked up to his room, and peered out his window. His gaze traveled slowly across the Village of the Gods, seeing servants bustling here and there.

Bast switched over the the Egyptian Royalty host. She walked around in her golden slippers, deciding to visit Bast's temple, just for fun.

God or mortal: God
Name: Thoth
Mythology: Thoth was the god of writing, wisdom, learning, and the moon. According to myth, Thoth invented writing, was the author of the Book of the Dead, and was the vizier and scribe of the afterlife. With his wife Ma’at, Thoth had eight children, including the god Amun. Thoth was a self-created god who invented magic and the hermetic arts. Associated with the moon, Thoth rose after sunset to vanquish darkness. Thoth was present at the judgment of souls and sat on top of the scale that weighed the hearts of the dead against the feather of Ma’at. When passing judgment on the deceased, the baboon Thoth told the ibis-headed Thoth when the scales were balanced. The ibis-headed Thoth related his findings to the other gods who were present at the judgment.
Symbol(s): The baboon, ibis, ibis-headed man, baboon-headed man, dog-headed ape, and writing palette with reed pens.
Depiction: Thoth is the wise god who was often depicted holding scrolls and a pen with which he recorded all things. He was depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or baboon, though some times he was the dog-headed ape. He was most often depicted as a dog-headed ape when attending the judgment of a soul.
Gender: Male
Bio: The wise old god, one of the original immortals to have created the world, became tired of the danger of war. So, he has started moving back and forth between the realms, aiding the humans, in hopes that they would change their ways and they would make sacrifices once more. He only wants everybody to be happy, for, he knew that, if the mortals died, there would be no more sacrifices and, if the gods ceased to exist, the mortals would be put into chaos. He secretly travels the human realm, in his human form under the name Karbukef, crusading as a famed hero and prophet, preaching for the mortals to change as well as saving lives and going on adventures... So far, he has had about thirty percent of mortals following him, and has an owl companion named Kafele.

The Same Being In Two Forms, They Both Preach For The End of the Coming War.

Thoth, in his human form, Karbukef, was making his way to send an offering and prayer to the god Anubis. He sighed, a small annoying thought in his mind: 'No matter how many people agree to my idea, there has been, so far, a larger opponent who disapproves.' Upon entering it, saw a ferocious-looking jackal with terrible glowing yellow-gold eyes. He shuddered, almost far too sure that it was Anubis himself, but kept walking towards the temple shrines, where one could make offerings, trying to keep a calm composure. Kafele, his owl companion, buried himself within the hood of his jacket-like vest in fear that the jackal might be hungry.

Anubis felt that someone was at the entrance of his temple. He looked out the window that faced the entrance and saw it was Thoth. He sent a silent, mental message to the current guard jackal, allowing Thoth to enter.

Karbukef sighed quietly as the jackal let him pass and, upon getting inside the temple, his figure changed into that of the great, wise god himself: Thoth. His height, almost at seven feet tall, and his feathered and beaked head clearly distinguishing him as the god of the moon, he strided in, and went to Anubis' room. Getting out from his scribe messenger bag was a a freshly killed gazelle. He bowed slightly towards the fellow god and, holding it out towards him, said, "For you, Anubis. It came from today's hunt."
