"Broken Rose"
broken rose,
my words rained over you
I was like a child, enraptured
in the dying day
beside the climbing vines
ever seeking
vanquished sun,
your eyes spacious as the sky
your mouth kissed my earth
in the streets where no one saw you
I named you my queen,
no one saw your crown of red gold
but the hymn of your being
shook the bells in my body
to the edges of the world
our song unites us:
solitude like the stars
is so distant and longing--
I cannot live without life
broken rose,
in your bloom I found my breath
folds of retained fire,
little volcano of my love
