Kazu has matured greatly from his time in the Human World. He is more confident in himself and the abilities and has become more outspoken and somewhat brash. He has developed the uncanny ability to befriend most people he meets and will always try his best to be friendly towards others. He does have some moments of self-doubt, however these are usually overcome thanks to the support of his friends and allies who reassure and prompt him to become the best he can be. Since his return to the Digital World Kazu has come to understand that no one side, be that Light or Darkness, is wholly correct. Instead of blindly believing that the side of Light is always correct, Kazu now seeks to act as a mediator for both sides and to maintain the balance of the Digital World in order to prevent another catastrophe like the great "Reset".

Pre-Reset Biography
Post-Reset Biography:
At age 16, Kazu awoke from a year-long coma. The Doctors said that he had survived on some kind of miracle. While he was told that he had been out cold for only a year, Kazu had memories spanning a far greater amount of time, almost 5 years. These memories seemed at best fantastic and at worst outright insane. He could remember a world of amazing monsters and humans, of battles and adventure and of an entire life that he had lived. But in the days following his awakening the specifics of this impossible world began to fade and he could only recall fragments, as if they were dreams fading into the subconscious.
Kazu chose to keep those memories to himself. He applied himself to his studies and caught up on his year-long hiatus, settling back into normal life and making it to University to study Psychology. Although he made new friends and moved on with his life, he was still plagued by dreams and nightmares of the other-world he experienced in his coma, often waking in a cold sweat as he remembered horrific acts of violence and pain but also of friendship and love for friends that he couldn't remember. But he would shake these visions off as nothing more than PTSD from the coma. He couldn't afford for people to think him crazy.
Kazu's studies in Psychology eventually led him towards the concept of AI and how computers were becoming smarter and more lifelike. For some reason Kazu was drawn more and more towards AI and it's progression and influence. Alongside his studies at University Kazu became involved with a sub-net hacking group who taught him basic hacking and how to effectivly manipulate the internet to his advantage. It was thanks to the friends he made in the sub-net group that he learned of a legendary entity named Yggdrasil, a super A.I that only existed in the form of rumors and speculation who was said to have created virtual life independently of humans. Upon learning about this almighty A.I something awoke in Kazu; the dreams and distant memories of a fantastic world began to flow back to him in more focused fragments and he felt an insurmountable yearning to return to this land of dreams, even though he could not remember much about it or even if it was real at all.
Kazu spent the next year and a half searching the internet for clues towards finding Yggdrasil. For some inexplicable reason, he felt like if he found this A.I he would find out about the dreams and memories that persistently hounded him. His studies suffered due to his obsession, and eventually he was forced to abandon his search in order to maintain his grades and to focus on living his life outside of cyber-space. However Kazu did remain in contact with the sub-net group, joining in on basic hacking attacks when he had spare time and generally maintaining his online persona.
A few months after he turned 20 news broke that a "Digital World" server had been discovered. At first Kazu had not been phased by this news. It was just an unusually large server with seemingly no relevant data. That was until the sub-net hackers realised that the viruses within the Digital World server appeared to be sentient, living things, or at least acted like it. They found a way to render that data into physical images and posted pictures, much to the excitement of the world. It was as Kazu looked them over familiarities with his dreams began to cause a pang in his heart. This was what he had been looking for! The yearning for a world other than this. His memories were still dreamlike, muddled and hazy but these images without a doubt showed the world he had seen in his dreams.
After a few months other, more legitimate, organizations had discovered a way to access the Digital World server by Digitizing the Human mind and uploading it to the server in it's Native data format. For months Kazu waited to sign up but the corporations were only providing a tour of the Central City for a few days, but Kazu needed more then a tour. News was spreading of individuals who now lived in the Digital World and had tamed the viruses. His passion to reach the Digital World growing almost unbearable, Kazu took a drastic measure...
Working with the sub-net he created a device to Digitize his entire body, and directly upload himself to the server. The longing and want in his heart over-rode the fear and doubt and he fired up the machine. The program before him bore a strange, portal-like graphic. He clicked the center and a simple textbox popped up "Are you sure you would like to continue" his fingers trembling with anticipation Kazu pressed the "Yes" button. In a flash, every electrical device in the neighbourhood shorted out. Lightbulbs popped and fuses blew. All but one machine in an almost 3 mile radius maintained power. Kazu's computer. The screen glowed blue and a few words flickered on the screen:

Kazu is somewhat doubtful of his own abilities as there is almost always someone better than him. He does above average in most things and his ability to adapt to tense situations gained him the nickname "Chameleon" during highschool. While at first he may not seem all that athletic, Kazu is a keen Swimmer and Runner and takes part in Life-saving and Free-running clubs, the latter being his best and favourite. Since arriving in the Digital World Kazu has developed the power to activate Digi-Soul. While normally a blue colour, after acquiring the Nature Spirits Digi-Memory, Kazu gained the ability to combine it's power with his Digi-Soul, turning the aura green. Being the holder of the Nature Spirits Memory, Kazu has taken it upon himself to be the its Guardian.

Kazu used to never do anything that would hurt others, his strong moral code has taught him to always uphold what he thinks is just and good. However his time in the Digital World has taught him that sometimes it is necessary to hurt others if it means that in the long run things will be better. After his experience with the Royal Knights he finds both extremes of the Good-Evil scale to be unsavoury, leading him to find his own way of portraying justice.

Arrival and actions in the Digital World:
Kazu Matsumoto
It was the end of his school year and he had been living with his friends for around a month. It was Kazu's turn to go shopping but he'd left it late into the night before he could be bothered to go. On his way back to the apartment he had to cross busy road. Repairs were being made to the lights and a policeman was waving pedestrians over the road, Kazu didn't notice and wandered out, not heeding the policeman's whistle of warning (He was listening to his i-pod at the time) The last thing he can remember of the Real World was the flash of a car's headlights and a brilliant burst of blue light that engulfed his whole vision.
Upon awaking Kazu found himself in the middle of a desert with a blue reptile standing over him. The reptile briefly explained where he was and that Kazu was now a Tamer. He introduced himself as Veemon and handed him a D-Power and D-Terminal. Kazu knew of Digimon, there was a craze for it a few years back that he had followed, so he had some knowledge of the species. With his new partner he headed out across the desert.
Since entering the Digital-World Kazu joined a team called the Royal Knights (Their code of Chivalry,Justice and Honour drew him to their cause), he has tried his hardest to help in their acquisition of items called Digi-Memories. Through this group Veemon and himself have grown tremendously. For most Memories Kazu was only ever able to make Veemon reach Champion level.
During the battle for the Bug Memory Kazu was seriously injured by a tree falling on him and crushing him. He was saved by Marcus and Dax, taken back to the base to recover. At the fight for the bird memory, Kazu took a nasty fall down the side of a mountain, luckily he escaped with only a few scrapes. He rescued the egg of Phoenixmon and was chosen to pick the memory from the selection. Unfortunantly he failed, but he formed a friendship with another Tamer called Kyo, the two promising to get a drink together after the war.
During the battle for the Beast Digi-Memory Veemon achived the Ultimate stage in digivolution thanks to finding a fossilised tablet containing Stingmon DNA. Lucky break huh? In the aftermath of the fight the pair visited a lake where they saved a Mermaimon who in turn agreed to join their team.
As time progressed so to did Kazu. At the battle of the Machine Memory Veemon reached the Mega stage with Imperialdramon, soon after Mode Changing to Fighter Mode. Unfortunately Kazu was trapped under the debris of Factorial town's buildings and almost didn't make it. Luckily Veemon turned into Fighter Mode to blow away the rubble and save them both.
Kazu was Kidnapped by a Tamer called Zar, the wound on his chest was burned closed and left a horrible scar, after help from Royal Knight Tamers Kazu escaped to Network City where he was treated for his wounds. After making a full recovery Kazu got a wardrobe change. Kitted out with his, black shirt, fingerless gloves, leather jacket, skinny jeans, trainers and headphones, Kazu set out to the East Data Ocean to help out the struggling Knights. He befriended and IceLeomon who Digivolved all the way to BanchoLeomon Burst mode (Admittedly for a very short amount of time) He thought Kazu was a worthy Tamer and so joined him as a partner.
After fighting in the Ocean, darkness began to consume Kazu. Despite his efforts he was transformed into a Myotismon, but not for long as the light inside him flared up and a Chibomon was born within him, the Chibomon became a Magnamon and Kazu became the light Digimon in his battle against the Memory Guardian. Though, in a moment of weakness (Caused by Kazu's inability to handle Magnamon's raw power) Myotismon began to take over again, but not before Kazu's dedication personified itself as Zerimon! One Bio-Merge later, Myotismon was quelled and a Golden Rapidmon stood in Kazu's place.
After the Water Memory a baby Chibomon who had sneaked onto his boat befriended him and joined his party. A masked figure saved Kazu from a lofty plunge and revealed itself to be a Piedmon, after some cryptic words and promises of a deal he vanished. Upon his return to the Headquarters Kazu was confronted by Marcus, overcome by darkness he assaulted the base then fled to the Endless Mountains leaving behind ChaosGallantmon, ChaosWargreymon and an army of Musyamon. Kazu and Veemon engaged ChaosWargreymon in battle, leading him into the skies to fight, however Imperialdramon Fighter Mode proved to not be strong enough to face the Dragonic Warrior.
Kazu was saved from falling by Piedmon again. After a moment of doubt Piedmon taught Kazu the secrets of Bio-Merge Digivolution and threw him at his heavily injured partner. After the Bio-Merge Kazu and Imperialdramon became Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. After a gruelling battle The Paladin came out on top. Kazu arrived at Endless mountain for the final battle. After some harsh words he engaged with Marcus' Digimon again, this time ChaosGallantmon. During his skirmish he had to contend with a rouge Piedmon aswell. Piedmon was eliminated and Kazu Biomerged to create The Paladin again. After rocking the Digital World with tremendous attacks from either Digimon they were both engulfed in a sphere of power. Neither came out in good condition ChaosGallantmon being deleted, Veemon's data scattered and Kazu physically exhausted. Mermaimon and Chibomon worked together to reconstruct Veemon while BanchoLeomon arrived to protect Kazu.
After an intense battle against NEO, a Digimon God, Kazu was killed, being hit by a powerful blow. After the Heroic efforts of his friend Alex and his previous enemy Marcus, he and the other fallen Tamers were revived. As the memories reconstructed the world the Nature Spirits Memory presented itself to Kazu. After agreeing to be it's protector and friend Kazu was blessed with the Nature Spirits Memory and MetalGarurumon, changing the colour of his D-Power from red to green. After making peace with everyone atop the mountain, Kazu left to train with his partners at the File Mountains.
Upon leaving the File Mountains Kazu visited Network City. However, not long after arriving all hell broke loose as Virus Digimon invaded the City, killing humans and Digimon without regard. Kazu threw himself head first into the battle and with the combined efforts of Imperialdramon, AncientMermaimon, BanchoLeomon and Piedmon they defeated many Viruses and rescued another Tamer named Justin. With his Digimon in critical condition Kazu fled the City to the Desert...
While in the desert, Kazu was attacked by a Monzeamon! After Demi-Veemon stepped in and Digivolved to GoldVeedramon it was revealed that the teddy bear was his old mentor. Ferocious sparring led to another Digivolution to MasterVeedramon. Unfortunately the group was jumped by a SkullGreymon. After Monzeamon was knocked out MasterVeedramon Digivolved again to AeroVeedramon! He managed to defeat the virus dinosaur and protect Kazu and Monzeamon. It was revealed that Monzeamon was holding on to the Elder of the Veemon tribe's spirits. He passed it on to Demi-Veemon. The bear Digimon entered Kazu's Digivice to rest, becoming a member of Kazu's team.
After witnessing a scuffle in the Tropical Jungle Kazu was approached by a Sakuyamon, apparantly the residual energy he used during his training had caused a mutation within a ToyAgumon, causing her to become Sakuyamon. She demanded to join Kazu's team and he accepted, admittedly a little bedazzled. It was at this point Kazu sensed and incredible force from the Vaccine Sentinal Tower. determined to investigate he took off on MetalGarurumon.
Upon arrival at the Tower, Kazu engaged in a catastrophic battle against Alter and Marcus. Imperialdramon FM, Magnamon and UlforceVeedramon came together for the first time to grant Kazu the name V-Tamer. With MaloMyotismon and Sakuyamon back up the team the three Tamers tore the Tower apart with their battle. With Kazu fully accessed his Digi-Soul for the first time, the feral energy exploding around him. However despite all of his best efforts, Marcus gained the upper hand, resulting in Kazu being impaled through the chest. His battle over he recalled his Digimon, apologising before he shut his eyes, accepting death.
Arriving on an astral plane, Piedmon emerged, using Kazu's death to ascend to God-Hood. Kazu lost all memory of who he was, who he knew and everything between. But before Piedmon could finish off his Tamer Yggdrasil stepped in, questioning Kazu's beliefs he eventually blessed Chronomon to revive the V-Tamer, asking only that Kazu leave him to slumber, and issuing a warning that a great purge would sweep the Digital world should balance be thrown off.
Wanting to discover and embrace darkness to test his soul, Kazu went to the heart of the Underworld to face Lucemon, the leader of the Demon Lords. Kazu begged the Demon Lord to expose him to the same Darkness as Marcus. This was a self imposed test on Kazu's part, to ensure that he would not become the same as his arch rival. Facing a test of his own demons Kazu fought against a copy of Marcus, reliving his worst memories and coming to terms with them all while Lucemon watched. After fending off the doppelgänger Kazu was released, leaving the castle, confident that he would be able to fend off the darkness.
After wandering through the Underworld for a while Kazu and Terriermon were confronted by a group of Ogremon. After a violent confrontation, helped by Kazu's use of Digi-Modify, the Ogremon were beaten and Kazu gained a life's pass in one of the Underworld's coffee shops. As he enjoyed a drink Kazu was approached by three Tamers, Lief, Toru and Jai, all of who had strong dreams and ideals. The four talked for some time, telling stories and enjoying each others company. In addition, a Justimon, after hearing of Kazu's journey, asked to join in on the V-Tamer's adventures, to which he gladly accepted.
Just as everyone was getting along, a mysterious figure entered the cafe and infected Lief with a strange, dark power. Lief changed, turning into a strange, half digital half human abomination. His Digimon becoming infected too an enormous battle erupted in the cafe. After fighting tooth and nail, Kazu ended up gaining the upper hand, desperate to recall his friend. At the pivotal moment, Lief regained control of his body and took a fatal blow. His final words were for Kazu to believe in himself and to move forward, with that Lief vanished from the Digital World. After mourning over Lief's death and struggling to come to terms with killing another person, Kazu left the coffee house to the File Mountains, Toru and Jai in tow.
Upon arriving at File Mountain Kazu met a Tamer named Rei. The young tamer had seen Kazu in battle during Network City and had wrongly assumed he was attacking the City. The two Tamers began fighting, with Kazu reluctant to strike down the bio-merged duo. After some inner reasoning he found a new resolve. His Digi-Soul repaired his clothes and gave him an awesome set of shades as he struck back against Rei. As the battle reached its conclusion a strange power hurled Kazu and his team forwards in time for a short encounter with the Gold Hawks, Black Swords and Blue Falcons.
After disturbing the timeline, Kazu was dragged back to the File Mountains, a few days after his departure. His arrival angered a local Rosemon into attacking him, luckily a sudden access to Hybrid Digivolution allowed him to become Kumamon and fight back, eventually convincing the Rosemon to join him on his adventures. All the while, two cloaked figures watched over the event, commenting on his resilience and discussing ways to break his spirit. With a new resolve, Kazu set out to find Marcus and the people who were responsible for Lief's death.
After getting lost upon File Mountains Kazu bumped into his old Rival Marcus. He was after Kazu's Digi-Soul and after a brief exchange the two once again threw themselves at each other with everything they had. After an awesome display of power from both sides, the fight concluded with Kazu fleeing to re-group. Exhausted from the battle Kazu came to rest in a cave with Devimon and Myotismon. In his weakened state Piedmon struck, forcing a mask onto his Tamer that allowed him to totally lose concious thought and rely on instinct, giving his mind time to recover from the recent traumas it had experienced. After a fierce fight Myotismon and Devimon managed to quell Kazu and Piedmon.
To Kazu's surprise, one of the old leaders of the Royal Knights, Dax appeared on the mountain, appearing to suffer from amnesia. After getting reacquainted a commotion called for Kazu's attention. Once again it was Marcus, his rival. After taking a young Tamer hostage, Marcus left Kazu with a cryptic message about the future, and that once again Kazu's life would be brought to an end. As he watched his rival leave Kazu decided to abandon the mountain, seeking answers for the questions Marcus had brought up.
Arriving at the Dark Ocean, Kazu settled in for some down time, relaxing and resting for the first time in what seemed like forever. But nothing is ever that simple in the Digital World, and no sooner had Kazu's down-time began then the Oni Brothers: Ogremon, Hyogamon and Fugumon attacked him out of the blue. After a brief scuffle Kazu turned into Kumamon once more and with BanchoLeomon's help they fended off the hungry brothers. Attempting to relax again the pair settled down.
Peace never lasting long Marcus showed up once again, addressing a group of Dark Tamers. Kazu was caught in the beginning's of a fight where he was the only person to not be associated with the darkness. Facing a potential fight against 5 Tamers Kazu was suddenly assaulted by Chris a fellow Royal Knight from the War of Memories. After a short scuffle a mysterious force stole Kazu away from the beach without any explanation.
Awakening some time later, Kazu found himself in a huge Colosseum. He was approached by a Digi-Elf who informed him that he was participating in a Tournament with the strongest Tamers in the land. Being handed a Digivive with Veemon, Demi-Devimon and Chiccomon loaded onto it he wandered around the huge complex. Though he was confused and his memories of how he got there were muddled Kazu attempted to keep calm, that is until he saw something he was certain he would never see again. Lief. Somehow his friend was alive and kicking. Though he had no memory of how he had arrived or indeed about Kazu having killed him,Lief was just as cheery as always. The two Tamers agreed to figure out what was going on after their individual matches and parted ways for a short while.
The tournament suddenly exploded into chaos, with participants and spectators alike deleted permanently from the Digital World, in a desperate bid to flee, Kazu allied with Marcus, his rival. Fighting their way through a hidden passage Marcus was injured, resolving to help Marcus out of the arena Kazu dragged the man to safety. But as events escalated Kazu and his partners were lost in the chaos. No one has seen or heard from him since...
[[Return to the Digital World]]
After activating his home-made device and having his entire being uploaded into the Digital World, Kazu found himself in the DRF's registration center. After filling a hell of a lot of paper-work Kazu was reunited with his oldest partner, Veemon! After a teary and heartfelt reunion, the Dragon Digimon had insisted that they find the other old members of Kazu's team. After a long trek around town and a few close calls with bigger Digimon, Kazu was reunited with his other friends Agumon, Gabumon and Buraimon. The foursome headed to a hostel where they would set up their pseudo base camp.
On the request of the hostel owner, Kazu and his friends investigated a string of unusual robberies. They eventually worked out that the thief was a red Digimon with a long yellow scarf and strange pole-like weapon, what was also strange was that the thief never stole more then he knew the victims could afford to lose. After venturing into the outer-districts with Buraimon, Kazu came face to face with the robber, a Shoutmon. After negotiations broke down Kazu ended up ensnared by an accomplice, a Gumdramon. All out of options, Buraimon was forced to soundly defeat both Digimon much to the chagrin of Kazu and the recently revealed younger sister of the two, Cutemon. Vowing to help the trio out, Kazu managed to land the group jobs at the hostel where he lived.
Not satisfied with Kazu's performance, Buraimon demanded that he undergo severe training to improve his mental and physical condition. Put through a strict regimen, Kazu spent a solid month running, weight-lifting, practicing complete focus and learning combat skills. At the end of the nightmarish month of exercise Kazu had to face Buraimon in a one-on-one challenge; if Kazu could land one clean blow on the Champion Digimon then Buraimon would willingly follow Kazu once again and they could begin exploring the Digital World, however, if Kazu could not accomplish that task, then Buraimon would leave the party and return to guarding the wall! After Kazu having the living-daylights beaten out of him for the whole fight, he finally tapped into his resolve and landed a solid blow on his friend. Satisfied, Buraimon agreed to stay with Kazu.
Less than a week later, Kazu was approached by an enthusiastic Archeologist Jijimon who claimed that his friend had seen a vision of him in the depths of File Mountain. Kazu, Veemon, Agumon and Gabumon ventured into the heart of the file mountains to explore and find what it was that Jijimon' friend had looked for. After a vicious battle against a Golemon and a group of Fugamon Kazu managed to successfully unlock the power of Evolution and granted his partners the ability to ascend to their Adult forms. After a few days of exploring the mountain the group discovered an old temple, they explored the innards and after reaching the center chamber they were locked in! Face to face with a GoldenRapidmon the group were beaten down until Kazu appealed to the Golden Digimon and managed to remind him that he was one of his old partners, Terriermon. After a hge clash of attacks Kazu awoke to two DigiMentals adding themselves to his Digivice and a new partner in the form of Terriermon. Worn out and desperate for rest, the group headed back to the Hostel to recover...
After receiving a strange message to his Digivice, Kazu discovered the existence of a Tournament run by the DRF to test out the new Tamers that populated the Digital World. In order to prepare for the tournament Kazu, Shoutmon and Veemon dissapeared together for a few days. The next time they were heard from was at the registration. While waiting for his match Kazu recognized a name on the line up from the old Digital World. An old friend from the Royal Knights was there at the contest and Kazu needed to meet with him.
