Chaining?

I was wondering, even though HGSS is a remake and the Pokeredar and all that stuff wasn't implemented in the previous games, is it still possible to try and chain for a Shiny?

Also, say I'm chaining Nidoran♀, encounter a Drowzee, but accidentally attack it then run, would that mess up my chain?

I've actually been looking more and more into shiny hunting. I'm pretty sure there is no pokeradar in HGSS to chain with. I could be wrong. But here's the guide I use to study from before I shiny hunt in DPP.

Also, pretty sure the Drowzee would screw your chain up. And running is a definite no-no with chaining.

Thank you! Yea, I've referenced that website as well, but I probably misinterpreted it in regards to running and other pokemon.
