practice shading, it depends how much pressure you put on the pen or pencil, ballpoint pens are your best bet.

Ha, I was having a problem shading some letters yesterday actually. I got the misc crap around the outside fine. But when it came to the actual letters I couldn't make it turn out without looking tacky (This was on photoshop though, so I don't know if it would apply here. Lol)

distance from surface to nozzle, length of time you spray in the area, angle of can and surface, type of tip you use... all of those apply with a can. AKA "Can Control" you need to pick up from experience wink

tip: grab a flashlight, aim it at the wall. The distance from the wall to light affects the size of circle. Angle the light and it also affects the shape of the circle. If you want to learn how to flare with a can, the same rules apply. Don't forget wind and gravity doesn't apply to light, but it does with paint. If attempting to flare, ALWAYS use a fat cap, for example an NY Fat. But yeah, That's it for now... Didn't mean to blab so much.. haha
