Is it right or wrong to have a dream? What if your dream hurt others? Would it be justifiable if your dream helped thousands, and hurt just a small group? These are the questions that faced a small group of State Alchemist, turned Scientist. Could you justify your actions if you forever changed the fate of a group of children? Could you sleep at night?
Apparently you can. Because that’s just what they did. The things that happened in that State funded labs could be nothing least then horrific. Young mothers kidnapped and forced to give up their unborn children for the sack of research. Orphans brought to this place, only to be killed, and then later resurrected to become homunculi that are controlled by the State.
All for the sack of research. Could you do it? Could you actually do it?
We have ourselves an amazing created born in these laps, many of them, failed. But the small few who survived, and later did not mutate into something you would only see in a horror film. It’s true; the Alchemists’ have done what was thought to be impossible. They have created the mystic beings we call Chimera. But in order to insure their stability, they were fused with human babies. This made a bigger and better version of what we once only saw in fairy tales, or our dreams. These half human, half animal beings are trapped in this lab, with no way of ever being free. Unless of course…there is a war.
But the Homunculi and Chimera aren’t uncivilized beings in cages, oh no! To insure that there is no rebellion among these creatures, the State has come up with a brilliant plan! Each individual has their own room, full of all the things they want. They have a playground, a school, and many other things to keep them happy.

But this doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few of them that aren’t a bit…unstable. There are three or four of these creatures that are not able to walk around freely with the others. Due to miscalculations their genes are unstable, causing them to go mad. But these small few are locked up. But there is one that is the most unstable of them all…the dragon. But she is locked up of course…there is no way for her to get free.

The point of this roleplay is pretty much a free range. You can be any character I have labeled, and all events in this story are up to you. But from time to time, I will chime in to give a hint of an oncoming event in the roleplay. Other than that, you’re free to do whatever.

Rules.
I honestly have no problem with anything you come up with, I merely have three rules.
1. Fallow the gaias basic rules. (Of course, I’m very flexible when it comes to this.)
2. No God modeling. I hate that.
3. And I allow any type of relationship here. Gay/bi’ straight, doesn’t matter to me. But if you want your character to do something naughty (for a lack of a better word) to another character. Please, do it behind closed doors. This means I’d like it if you would just time skip when you want that to happen.

Other than that, feel free to cut each other’s heads off.

~~Character list:~~

Mains:
Al~ Aru!

Name: Colonel Roy Mustang

Age: 30

gender: Male

Status: State Alchemist

Weapon: Alchemy Fire gloves

Weakness: Rain, and also Earth style alchemy.

Theme song: Undo

Bio: Orphaned at a young age, Roy was adopted by Chris Mustang, his father's younger sister, who brought him up with the intention of making him into a fine gentleman. Presumably in his teens, young Roy discovered an affinity for alchemy and took basic instruction in the craft from master alchemist Berthold Hawkeye in the hopes of becoming a source of strength and knowledge for the people of Amestris. However, faced with the increasing frequency of border wars, Roy eventually left his teacher's charge and enrolled in the State Military Academy with the intent of becoming a State Alchemist and devoting himself to the protection of citizens caught in the crossfire of international struggles. While at the military academy, he became friends with fellow cadet Maes Hughes, with whom he often discussed his idealistic dreams for the future of the country.

In 1905, at the age of twenty, Roy returned to the decrepit Hawkeye estate hoping to both acquire the higher echelons of Master Hawkeye's unique alchemical expertise as well as persuade his revered teacher to join the State Alchemist program so as to share his brilliance with the world. Berthold, however, refused the offer and further expressed his doubts that someone so eager to become a military lapdog was worthy of attaining the pinnacle of his research. Unfortunately, Master Hawkeye died of an unknown illness in Roy's arms that very day, leaving as his dying wish that Roy inherit his secret research notes from his daughter Riza under the condition that he look after her and vow to never use the power hidden within for ill.

At Hawkeye's funeral, after Roy revealed to Riza his own dreams of strengthening the government and protecting the people with his own strength, she in turn revealed to him that her father's secret research had been encoded in a tattoo on her back. Impressed by Roy's intentions, she entrusted her back to him in the hopes that he would use its secret to create a happy future for the people. Deciphering the code, Roy mastered Hawkeye's innovative flame alchemy and went on to pass the State Alchemist certification exam, earning the symbolic moniker "Flame Alchemist" and the military officer rank of Major.

Roy during the Ishval Civil War.
Added by KiadonyThree years later, the Ishval Civil War had reached a fevered pitch, prompting the Führer to order combat-oriented State Alchemists into front line combat as human weapons to begin a full-blown extermination campaign against the Ishvalans. The Flame Alchemist was ordered into the Daliha district where the columns of fire ignited by his flashily destructive style of combat alchemy earned him great notoriety and the nickname "The Hero of Ishval". Re-encountering Maes Hughes and Riza Hawkeye, who had enrolled into the military academy and become an infamous sniper in the civil war since he had seen her last, the three lamented the fact that their eyes of youthful idealism had been replaced with the eyes of murderers and pondered over the unknown reasoning behind the incredible military expenses being devoted to the inexplicable wholesale slaughter of the Ishvalans, who were technically fellow Amestrian citizens.

After an exorbitant death toll, Mustang himself brought an end to the struggle in Daliha, effectively bringing the civil war to a close. However, the long and bloody struggle had all but erased the idealism of his youth; after devoting himself to the military in order to support the people, he had built himself up into the "hero" of a massacre, and only managed to save the lives of a few men stationed under him with his flames. Still, the thanks of those men inspired a new dream in the Flame Alchemist's heart. Instead of becoming part of the foundation of the country in order to protect the people, he began planning to rise above people and protect those below him with his acquired power and authority. Even if all he could protect was a few people, he would make sure that those people protected those below them and so on until the entire nation ended up benefiting from his protection. It was at that point that Roy Mustang first set his sights on the position of Führer.

As Mustang prepared to move out from the battlefield, Riza - just as guilt-ridden for her deadly role in the genocide, both direct and indirect - asked Roy to burn the record of her father's research off of her back with his Flame Alchemy so as to prevent the creation of a second "Flame Alchemist".

After the war, Mustang was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and stationed at the East Area Headquarters in East City under Lt. General Grumman. As a new commander, he scoured the new recruits for trustworthy subordinates who would fulfill his ideals of universal protection and amassed a handful of dependable underlings including Riza Hawkeye, whom he positioned as his personal aide and bodyguard, entrusting his back to her under the agreement that she would protect him from harm and shoot him from behind if his march to power caused him to stray off of the correct path and use the knowledge she had given him with ill intentions. Roy sets his sights for the top.
Added by Tommy-Vercetti

In the aftermath of the war, as several State Alchemists had thrown away their licenses as penance for the atrocities they had been ordered to commit, Lt. Col. Mustang was assigned to investigate and recruit possible candidates for the State Alchemist program. One such lead brought him, along with 2nd Lt. Hawkeye, to the town of Resembool in the east in pursuit of an alchemist named Edward Elric. Upon arriving in town, Mustang discovered not only that this Edward Elric was only eleven years old, but also that the boy's empty home held the horrific telltale signs of a Human Transmutation attempt. Rushing to next door neighbor's house to confront young Edward, he made yet another discovery - that the boy had miraculously survived the Rebound from a failed Human Transmutation and managed to bind the disembodied soul of his younger brother Alphonse to a suit of armor (two unheard-of alchemical feats) at the cost of his right arm and left leg. Faced with this information, Mustang offered Edward the chance to join the program under his command, mentioning that the boy might even find a way to restore his and his brother's bodies with the resources at his disposal as a State Alchemist.

One year later, after Mustang had been promoted to the rank of Colonel, Edward arrived at East Area HQ and requested that Roy escort him to Central City for his license examination. Displaying the unique ability to transmute without a circle as well as uncommon brazenness, Edward was accepted into the program, stationed under Col. Mustang's command and granted the title "Fullmetal Alchemist". In exchange for Edward's loyalty, Roy promised to keep Edward's illegal human Transmutation attempt as well as the secret of his brother's body under wraps and granted him the leeway to venture freely around the country in search of his goal.

Personality:On the surface, Roy seems to be a shallow and self-absorbed man, infamous among many of his colleagues and subordinates alike for the selfish and narcissistic aura he gives off. Easily as arrogant as his young protégé Edward, Colonel Mustang is wont to act in an ostentatious manner and appears to act mostly out of self-interest rather than any sort of philanthropy. He comes off to most as a sort of cocky layabout, shirking most of his duties and delegating his paperwork to subordinates while sitting idly at his desk with an amused smile on his face as he procrastinates, but quick to take action when it appears that there is glory and military notoriety to be gained. Roy is expertly manipulative and prone to think several steps ahead of those around him, giving him a remarkable talent for making subordinates act exactly as he wishes despite appearing not to have had a hand in their decisions - all traits which make the fact that he has managed to attain the lofty rank of colonel at such a young age a matter of public gossip.

Roy also has the reputation of being an incorrigible womanizer, and it's said he spends much of his time cavorting about town with various women and wooing several of the servicewomen with his abundant charm, good looks and charisma. This adds another facet to his unpopularity among the enlisted men, many of whom have had their sweethearts and crushes romanced away from them by his hand.

However, while these traits do have a place in his real personality, much of his outward persona can perhaps be considered an intentional façade perfectly designed to cause those unfamiliar with him to underestimate his remarkable intelligence and ability. Mustang is an exceptional tactician, well-versed in various strains of combat theory and particularly talented in the realms of surreptitious information-gathering, covert operations and enemy ensnarement.

At the core, he is a remarkably devoted commander whose primary focus and personal duty is to his friends and subordinates. Though he hides it well behind a veil of cynicism and self-importance, Roy Mustang is a man who cares deeply about the people who trust and support him and goes to great lengths to ensure their safety and well-being, even at the risk of his own. As a man with considerable power, Mustang considers himself a protector to those without and acts accordingly, earning the staunch loyalty of his most trusted compatriots.

Unfortunately, his self-imposed position as protector has caused him to display a penchant toward stubbornness in regards to his pride on the field and a fiery temper, both of which have been shown to cloud his judgment in certain situations.

NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!!
PostPosted: Thu May 06, 2010 8:42 pm
User ImageToby had just eaten breakfast. The scientist that usually visited him was careful not to piss him off as always because they knew how tempermental he could get. Toby kicked the empty tray across the room, knowing they'd come back at lunch to get it. There wasn't much for them to do but sit in these small rooms. Toby never exactly understood why he and people like Arc were different from the others.

His senses, being half snake, were keener than most and Tobias could usually hear those on both sides of him going back and forth. Tobias sighed and sat on his bed. For once, he wanted to get out of his room for a bit. Maybe play some or even just talk to someone for a bit. He wanted to do something. Not being able to angered him, and banged on the door. "I wanna go outside!!" he shouted.

((Yaaaaaay!~ First posts of the roleplay!!~~))

Arc walked the halls of what most would assume to be a prison. But to most that lived there, it was nothing less than home. It’s all they knew, and maybe all they would ever know. The hallway wasn’t dark like most would expect. When people think of prisons, or experimental labs, they think of dark and damp halls, rooms with blood splatter on them. But this place was kept clean and pleasant. Well, this part anyway.
For those who behaved nicely, or where not failed experiments, they lived in what could be assumed as a five star hotel. They were allowed the food they wanted, the clothes they so desired from the outside world, and even pets. But most didn’t kept pets; it seemed rather barbaric to keep your own kind in a cage.
But for those few who didn’t behave, or were not successful…their fate was less then beautified. They lived in the lower levels, chained up and only allowed visitors when they did play nicely. Everyone knew about them, but it had become the norm to them. That’s usually why everyone behaved themselves…no one wanted to be stuck down there…with her.
Arc was a success, obviously. She had become the perfect blend of a human and a bird. Now, she wasn’t a bird of prey, she had no claws, no razor sharp beck. Simply fragile bones and delicate looking wings. She was only used as an example to the State on what could be possible with this new science. They wanted the State to see the lighter side. She was, in a way, the angel of the project. Hence her name sake. The projected would have been denied if they had seen what happens to the poor souls who don’t merge well with their new DNA.
But everyone likes the brighter side of things. The light blinds you to the truth.
She took careful steps onward, still in her robes after coming back from the doctors. Her own personal doctor was her father, who took special care when it came to her. Not because she was his kin, but because she was a success, something that doesn’t happen often.
He had been examining her eyes for signs of vision. There was none. Ever since the accident, an experiment gone wrong, she has only been able to see shadows. That was when she was 7. She has since become used to only seeing the shadows around her, thought she says they are bright.
She turned her head to a sound coming from a door. It was Toby, again. She smiled brightly, fluffing up her wings as she ran over to his door. Their doors were locked from the outside, so Toby would be unable to get out. She grinned, opening up the hatch that was used as a window. She peeked in, seeing his shadow hovering over her. Her bright blue eyes electrified everything, as did her smile. “Someone’s a bit cranky, as usual,” she teased. Arc opened the door, her form small, but her wings taking up most of his doorway. “Let’s go play in the court! We’ll play tag! Everyone else is in their rooms, so we gotta be quiet in our escape,” she held her finger up to her mouth a shhhed. She giggled, turning and running for the court yard, expecting Toby to fallow along.

PostPosted: Fri May 07, 2010 6:51 pm
User ImageNot long after Tobias began repeatedly pounding on the door, footsetps were drawing near. He could not only hear them, but feel them. His senses were indeed, highly developed. Not only that, but his alchemy played a part in it as well. If not for his horrible attitude, he'd be in the same position as Arc. After a few seconds, the window hatch opened revealing the bright blue eyes of Arc.

"You shut up and let me out!" Tobias hissed. Arc was actually a friend of Tobias. Even if he said mean things to her, she didn't care most of the time. She did in fact, open the door and suggested that they go outside and play tag in the courtyard. But they definitely had to be quiet or else they'd get caught. He was good at being quiet. He was fused with a python and they didn't make much noise. "Come on, Arc!" Tobias whispered, now elated that he'd gotten his chance to go outside. he grabbed her hand and pulled the fragile girl along with him, heading for the courtyard.

Arc giggled down the hall with Toby, his hand in her own. She spread her wings, catching air and lifting her up slightly. She laughed, “Your own personalized kite!” She shhhed herself, trying to fallow her own advice. If she didn’t keep quiet, her father would hear them.
Arc’s father didn’t much like his greatest achievement playing with the snake boy. His temper could be a threat at times. With Arc’s hallow bones, she could break easily. And Toby was known to get rough with the others.
But Toby had never hurt Arc before, nor would he ever. The two had met in a funny way, not in the usual way. Of course, nothing here was the usual way. Arc in a bed beside Toby’s. Toby was being restrained for bad behavior, and Arc was getting a broken arm treated. They began talking, Toby yelling mostly. But no matter what Toby said to her, Arc could only laugh. They had become friends that day, weather Toby intended it or not. They were both around the age of five, before Arc lost her sight. Arc was the only reason Toby wasn’t locked up, she begged her father not to do it, saying she wanted him up there with her.
They finally made their way to the doors that lead to the courtyard. Arc pulled in her wings and released Toby’s hand. She pulled out a key from under her surgical robe. She had hidden it under the strap that held it closed. She looked over to Toby, smiling, putting her finger to her lips again. She had swapped this from her father the day before. “Don’t ask, don’t tell,” she giggled. She opened the door to reveal the bright sky that leaked from the large window that covered the courtyard. This was to insure Arc didn’t fly away. But of course, where would she go?
“Catch me, if you can!” she giggled, opening her wing and taking flight.

User ImageTobias laughed with Arc as she lifted herself into the air like a kite. But he shushed her as well as her doing it to herself. Arc's father didn't much like dealing with Tobias because of his history of destruction and rage. Tobias had no intentions on changing who he was. The man would have to deal with it. Soon enough, they made it to the courtyard doors and the girl reached and pulled a key she'd stolen. "My lips are sealed!" he said rushing out. The sun was not too bright. Good. Tobias hated that. That's why his room was always dim and painted gray. He jumped and chased Arc around as they began to play.

Arc whirled around in the air, Toby chasing her around as she did this. He would jump to try and catch her, but she would only pump her wings to go just beyond his reach. She giggled, but could tell Toby was beginning to get irritated with this. So she flew as high as she could, almost to the glass. But not all the way, or she would get a nasty shock. “Let’s see if you can dodge this!” she said, spinning around and dive bombing him. Before he could escape her, Arc grabbed him from under his arms, lifting him into the air with her.

A small body walked through the halls, silent, even in step. She looked about the doors, seeing all her failed experiment brothers and sisters. The higher level experiments were usually not allowed down in the lower levels, but Doll never paid any mind to the rules of this place. They weren’t relevant to her.
She peeked into a room, seeing something slumped over up against the wall. It appeared human. But most things here did look human. She tapped lightly on to the wall besides its door. It flinched, but didn’t look up. “Hey…” she whispered into the small opening. Doll fused into the shadows of the door, appearing on the other side. Now that she was closer, she could see it was female around the age of 17. It seemed to be having trouble breathing. Doll walked over to it, her bandaged feet shifting the dust on the floor, causing it to rise. She knelt down beside the creature, lifting its head to get a better look.
The girl had scaly skin, fishlike. Her eyes were non-existent, just a patch of skin where they should have been. Its mouth was half open, gasping for air. Its pale green scaled skin was scared over in some places, and where an arm should have been on one side, only a webbed appendage stuck loosely from its socket. It was a painful sight to see.
Doll took pity on the poor creature. It was obvious it had been living its whole life down here, suffering, wishing for a death that wouldn’t come. The Scientists must use her for new drugs and other enhancements…only feeding it enough to keep it alive. “You poor thing…I will save you…” Doll snapped its neck, leaving it dead in an instant.
She waited there for a moment, before fusing into the wall, making her way back to the usual place.

User ImageArc just wouldn't stay still enough for Tobias to catch her. He could jump pretty high, but Arc had wings. There was no comparison. As was usual for Tobias, he quickly became highly irritated. He hissed, wanting Arc to come down and get caught. But suddenly, she soared up to the top and came back down, divebombed him. Tobias tried to dive out of the way, but Arc was just too fast and she caught him from underneath his arms. Arc was very strong for her size. It was her wings. Because of them, she could support much more weight than normal. Even so, she was still very strong despite her appearance.

There was nothing like the wind in your hair, the smell of blooming flowers whooshing past you. What made it even better was having company beside you. Or rather, at hand. Arc held Toby tightly as she zoomed around the courtyard. She tried this once before, when she was younger, but she dislocated her arms that time. Toby had felt extremely guilty when it happened, because he had begged her to take him flying. Of course, the two of them where very young when this happened. Arc was sure Toby didn’t remember that event, or how much he cried when it happened. He may not like to admit it, but Toby cared about his friends, his temper just got in the way.

“Now up for a loop!” she giggled, getting a better grip on Toby. She moved her hands down to hold him in a sort of bear hug, being sure not to drop him. “One, two…three!” she shouted, zooming up and into a long loop. She looked at the ground upside down as she did this, laughing as if she was on a roller coaster.

Doll fazed out of the shadows and into the courtyard. It was one of her favorite places to be, and it was slightly cloudy that day, which was good. But of course the scientists were ready for anything. When they had realized that Doll was allergic to the sun, they had fitted the courtyard ceiling with a special coating that wouldn’t allow the UV rays that caused the reaction to get in.

When Doll spotted Arc and Toby playing in the courtyard, her blank emotionless face curled into a child like smile. Something that only happened when Arc was around. “Mama! ~” she purred, jumping out from behind the bench she had been brooding behind.

Arc turned an eye to see who had shouted; it was Doll! “Doll! Where have you been? We already started playing silly!” she smiled, her heart feeling warm at the sight of the girl. “Hold tight Toby, we’re going in for a landing,” she said, her wings folding in as she dove down to greet Doll.

At first, Tobias didn't want to be carried by Arc like this. It wasn't the fact that he was worried about her dropping him, it was just that he didn't her to get hurt. They'd done this years and years ago once. Tobias remembered begging Arc to do this and at first, she refused. Finally once she did, he ended up dislocating her arms because of his weight.

Tobias remembered the sadness in him that followed. That was when he realized that he truly cared about Arc. He never told that though. Not even to this day. He began to enjoy himself a bit as she took them for a loop. Tobias closed his eyes and laughed and when they were leveled out again, he saw Doll.

Doll was another one of the successful experiments. Like Tobias, she was sensitive to light. She was worse off though, her skin having a horrible reaction to it. She was like a shadow. Doll had this thing for Arc and Tobias. The strange girl had adopted them as her parents whether they liked it or not. As they were coming in for a landing, Toby lifted his legs, his bare feet coming closer to the ground. Once they'd landed, he greeted Doll without really acknowledging her. "Oh. Hi, Doll. You're not gonna snitch, are you?" he mumbled not even looking in her direction.

Doll ran up to Arc and Toby, but stayed a ways from Toby. She knew he wasn’t too into her presents. She had come on a bit strong the first time they had met. But that was because Arc had simply decided on her own that Doll would be her baby. She never did say why she was so intent on Doll being hers…

“Mums the word,” she grinned. She would never tell on the two of them, they never told on her when she went to the lower levels. “Hey Mama I heard one of the Scientists say that we would be having a Stat Alchemist come and inspect the Underground within a few days! Do you think it’ll be a boy…do you think he’ll be cute? `” she giggled, knowing Arc’s embarrassment about anything slightly attractive to her.

Arc felt her face grow hot on the topic. Doll knew she couldn’t see a thing, except shadows of course. But Arc had a certain sense about things. In her mind’s eye, she could see images just by hearing the voice of a person. That’s how she knew Toby had grown into a very handsome man; many of the other experiments’ grew jealous of Arc and her close relationship with Toby over the years. All of them wanted him, but Toby had such a bad temper, he had no patients for the girls who lived here. She even caught a few of the female Scientists coming on to him.

“Oh please, like that kind of thing matters to me,” she said with a slight cough. She always felt uneasy around anyone who was slightly attractive. Only because Arc couldn’t remember what she looked like, it had been so long since she had seen her face. She knew she had grown into a women, but she didn’t know what her new body looked like. No matter how many times she tried, Arc couldn’t see herself in her mind’s eye. “Perhaps it’ll be a female Alchemist! You’d like that, wouldn’t you Toby? Something nice to look at!” she smiled, looking his way.

Doll rolled her eyes, “But Mama, he’s already got you! You’re the prettiest women here! But don’t let Miss Dawn know…you know how she is…” she shuttered.
