500 years has passed since the reveal of Specials to the world. Even though peace is wanted, a reality rather close to what makes X-Men has taken place. However, in what would be seen as a final battle, nearly all of the specials and humans have been killed the only specials that survived the full 500 years were Peter, Sylar, Hiro, and Claire, however Peter and Sylar lost all powers except for Clair's instant regeneration. In this new desolate landscape, there are three factions:
-Humans Against the Threat of Specials (H.A.T.S)
-The Movement of Specials against Oppression (M.S.O.)
-Independants against the Human/Specials War (I.H.S.W.)

H.A.T.S. = Generally trained officials who have been killing off Specails even before they went public. People who believe that they are sins against man or just too powerful to be left alive. They generally are highly religious or powerhungry.

M.S.O.= This group has been split up into two factions. The War Mongers led by Sylar and the Peacekeepers led by Peter. These two factions have a shaky truce, but will fight if they are in the same zone. Their bases are known to each other and are protected by both factions from human interference from H.A.T.S. and will not invade each other. The specials from this group generally have fighting based powers. The more violent powers generally joining Sylar.

I.H.S.O.= A faction of anti-war Specials and humans. they tend to have powers that are more for defence and healing rather than fighting while the humans generally are civilian military that don't mind Specials. This group is led by Hiro and Claire.

The reason Hiro is still around is because he created a paradox where if he dies, his past self from the point just before he jumped to the future will jump forward making a sort of PEZ effect. This grants him the type of immortality that Claire has without the need to regenerate.
