Genre: Action, Drama, Historical

Summary:
Betrayed by his country. Beaten into slavery. Reborn as a warrior. Spartacus: Blood and Sand is a graphic and visceral account of Rome's most famous gladiator. When he's separated from the love of his life, Spartacus is forced into the gruesome and bloodthirsty arena, where a grisly death is primetime entertainment. Spartacus must fight for survival, befriend his enemies and play politics in this new world of corruption, violence, sex and fame. He'll be seduced by power and tormented by vengeance. But his passion will give him the strength to prevail over every obstacle, in this modern and uninhibited tale of death, honor and endurance.

Starring: Andy Whitfield, Lucy Lawless (or should that be Lucy Flawless?) John Hannah, Peter Mensah.

Warnings:
Graphic violence, gore, full frontal nudity, sex scenes, language... basically everything.

Personal comments:

This show is probably one of the most epic things I've seen so far. Imagine 300 crossed with Rome and Gladiator, and this is what you get. There is a lot of violence, these are gladiators after all, and the fight scenes are positively stunning, with blood spraying everywhere (artistically, mind you) and frequent dismemberment.

There's also a lot of intrigue going on, mainly between the Romans - the Domina and Dominus, who pretty much own the gladiators, are struggling with both reputation and funds, and the champion Gladiator, Crixus, is constantly trying to impress one of the slave girls (who thinks he's an idiot) while being used as Lucretia's boytoy (against his will, but he won't say that to his mistress!)

Naturally, there is a lot of sex as well. About two sex scenes per episode, so far. Mind you, this show includes both guy-on-girl, girl-on-guy, girl-on-girl and guy-on-guy. And it ain't censored. Nothing is censored, expect full frontal nudity and blatant porn. Men are never fully dressed. Ever. Except the ugly ones, and thank god for that.

As I said, awesome show is awesome. Go watch it now! It's airing on Starz in the U.S, and for those who can't watch it on TV, there's always online streaming.

Another nice aspect of this show is that the female characters are very strong, especially Lucrecia. She gets her way, and even the slave girls are sassy as hale and won't be bossed around by the somewhat socially retarded men around them. Lucrecia especially is very quotable, I love her!

. . .Hmm, it seems. . . interesting.
I've never heard of anything of the concept before, so I guess that's pretty neat.
But I don't think I'll ever watch it, not much into the whole porn concept. . .

Well, it IS pretty softcore (in my opinion) but there is a fair amount. I'm super desensitized to stuff like that so I don't really mind x'D

I just watched ep.5 and Barca and Pietros (our resident gay couple who are like the cutest thing ever seriously I want to pinch their cheeks and feed them cookies until they die from severe obesity) were pretty much killing me. Those two need to stop being so adorable D: Pietros especially, he's always so bloody happy and nice to everyone ; _ ; *goes all wibbly*

I feel sorry for Barca though, because Batiatus makes him do bad things sad
