Okay guys, I am just compiling a list of the conventions I
have been to and are going to in the (near) future (like,
within the year). SOO...Here we go~

Also, I have all the photos I have taken from these conven-
tions, so if you were there, I may have an image of you.
Request me if you would like~

ALSOx2: Request me some conventions I can go to! As you
can see, I like to add a convention every year (even though
this will only be my fourth convention-going year), and I
will try to come!

SPECIAL NOTES

2007

Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA-con)
>> My first Anime Convention EVER.
>> I was 16 years old at the time.
>> Two friends attended with me: Amanda Hatcher and TJ Brown.
>> Ran into guildie Kite Azure while I was here, though I never told him who I was.

2008

MomoCon
>> My first "official" run-in with my "Cosplay Trio." **
>> I was still 16 at the time.
>> Two friends attended with me: Amanda Hatcher and TJ Brown.
>> There was a frickin' TORNADO WARNING during the convention!

**The "Cosplay Trio" is a group of cosplayers that attend
nearly every convention to which I have been, and because
of their skill level, I stalk them. The group consists of the
cosplayers (their deviant art names here) "burloire,"
"Beautiful-Rose," and "sizzing". This year, I captured
"burloire" as Yasuyoshi Sano from Air Gear (caught only in
a side picture), "Beautiful-Rose" as Agito Wanijima from Air
Gear(Wedding-Dress version and Straight-jacket version),
and "sizzing" as Rikku from Final Fantasy X-2 (Thief Dress-
phere).

Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA-con)
>> My first attempt at Cosplaying (Vayne Solidor of Final Fantasy XII)**
>> I was 17 at the time.
>> Two friends attended with me: Amanda Hatcher and TJ Brown.
>> My friendship with TJ Brown began to dissolve
>> TJ Brown gave a fanservice with a man we refer to as "Sexy Vash" TWICE (video HERE)

**The cosplay never made it to the convention, however. I
commissioned the cosplay, and the woman who did it waited
until the last minute to start on it. She requested I only needed
to make the gauntlets and arm-guards for the cosplay, and
although I offerred to make more, she refused, saying that
she would do it. However, by the tiem of the convention, my
cosplay was MAYBE 50% done. I felt so embarrassed when I
put everything on. Scales were falling off, there were no ac-
cessories, she had made no plans for sticking my components
on the outfit. By the time I reached the convention, I was in
tears. I quickly went back to the hotel and changed, keeping
the outfit as a pinaful reminder of why I don't cosplay.

2009

MomoCon
>> I was 17 at the time.
>> One friend attended with me: Amanda Hatcher.
>> Signified the "straw that broke the camel's back" between TJ Brown and I.**

**TJ Brown had told our whole family that he was coming with us
to Momo-con, so we reserved a separate room so that the girls
could sleep in one room and the guys could sleep in another. The
morning of Momo-con (at about 3:00 in the morning) TJ left a
message on our answering machine stating that he had forgotten
his promise to go to a wedding that day (though he was known for
making superfluous lies). Had he called the previosu day, we could
have cancelled the extra room and just had everyone in a single
room, but because of this short notice, he had cost my family
about $60. Now, he had hurt me before like this, but this was the
first time that his selfishness actually hurt my family. That, and the
fact that he nearly broke a promise to ANOTHER friend (even more
important than a convention), really made me re-evaluate my friend-
ship with him. After a day of deliberation, I decided I could no longer
be friends with someone who I could place my trust in, plus Amanda
was thousands of times more of a friend than he, and it made me
truly value her. I harbor no hatred for him, however, just bitterness
and regret. When we were hanging out, it was some of the most fun
times of my life, but the downs occurred more than the ups.

Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (MTAC)
>> My first solo experience at a convention (no one came with me).
>> On Friday I was still 17, but on Saturday I turned 18.
>> Spent 75% of my money on birthday gifts for Amanda Hatcher (she would turn 18 on April 8 ).

Otakon
>> First Otakon experience! <3
>> One friend attended with me: Amanda Hatcher.
>> I was 18 at the time.
>> Got to formally meet some guildies! (Twelvie and Misaki Haseo)
>> Even Amanda got to meet some of her guildies from WoW!
>> First Convention with a Masquerade.
>> HOWEVER, best time of the convention: The 5 hour waiting in line for registration. IT WAS AWESOME.

Anime Weekend Atlanta
>> I was SO sick (acute bronchitis and a flu) at this convention.
>> One friend attended with me: Amanda Hatcher.
>> Still 18.
>> Apparently, TJ Brown also attended the convention, but I never saw him.
>> I hope my illness didn't take away from Amanda's fun time! ;c

Kaji-con
>> Actually the first time Valdosta State held Kaji-con; I was a part of history!
>> One friend attended with me: Amanda Hatcher.
>> We came on request of another friend: Brittany Howard (Lanie-chan)
>> The three of us met and had an awesome time, even though the convention was small.
>> Lanie won Best In Show for her cosplay: England (Axis Power Hetalia); SO PROUD!

2010

MomoCon
>> Two friends attended with me: Amanda Hatcher and Brittany Howard (Lanie-chan).
>> This was Lanie's first BIG convention.
>> The first time I was in bed with two girls, playing with our favorite toys (yes, puns intended).
>> This was also the first time someone in our group cosplayed (Lanie was England).
>>I actually FORCED Lanie to go hang out with more Hetalia cosplayers.
>> I FINALLY GOT THE ENTIRE WITCH HUNTER ROBIN DVD SERIES. FSK YES.

Middle Tennessee Anime Convention (MTAC)
>> Unable to attend due to Finals Week at Georgia State University.**

**Weekend dedicated to completing my On the Road Claim
Paper for ENGL 1102.

AnimeExpo
>> I attended this convention alone (excluding my mother and sister).
>> I was 19 at the time.
>> A series of disastrous events prevented me from arriving on time.**
>> Due to unfortunate planning on my part, I only spent four/five hours at AX on Saturday.
>> I only stayed for two hours on Sunday.
>> Overall, my most disappointing (and expensive) convention to date.

**My sister lives in Alameda, California, which is about six hours
from Los Angeles where the convention was held. We left San
Francisco around 8:15 a.m., placing our estimated arrival time
at around 2:15 a.m. Several horus later, my sister's car began
eliciting a sound that signified something was wrong; her car
was overheating drastically. We pulled off the road and located
a repair shop some miles back from whence we came. Her car
had to be towed, and we spent approximately four-and-a-half
hours in a heavily Spanish-speaking town waiting for her car to
be repaired. After the men replaced the fan, we continued on;
our estimated arrival time was now 7:30 p.m. About thirty
minutes outside of LA, my sister's car began to overheat again.
We had luckily pulled off in an exit to look for a palce to eat,
and we spent another two-and-half-hours at the Sears
Automotive Services to have her car repaired again. After
having her antifreeze replaced, we ate at a Chile's and finally
arrived at our hotel at 10:45 p.m.

Otakon
>> Unable to attend due to my uninformed decision to attend Anime Expo over Otakon.

You're coming to Otakon again this year, Slate? ;3; ♥ Awesome! I hope I run into you again!

I'd totally recommend you cons, but alas, everything I know of is within an hour of me, which is a pretty ridiculous distance away from most other Net Slummers.

@Naota
Procrastinating from doing my homework, mainly.

@Twelvie
Yeah, but considering that I drove 13 hours to make it to Otakon,
I think I could drive to a con close to you. And I live in GEEEE-
ORGIA, so I'm about as far from the other Net Slummers as it
gets. And yes, hopefull I will be able to make it to Otakon again,
so we totally need to hang out more. I never really got to talk
to you like I did Misaki (I found her in the Dealer's Room and
we walked around and chatted while her group ran around, I
even got to talk to her father, I'm assuming). The only thing I
got to hear to say is "3...2...1 okay and done! Now, any requests
for pictures?" We had no moments of amazing Net Slumness and
we didn't even get to be a ghei. So...I demand a redo!

While I can't confirm this yet, I am going to bust my buns to try and get to Otakon again this year - and hopefully whip out a new .hack//costume. I really would like to do Helba this year, but since Costume Con is sucking up all of my costuming time right now, I'm not sure if I can pull it off. BUT I SHALL TRY, JUST FOR YOU NETSLUM!

I'm going to stalk you, okay Slate? biggrin

As for cons to suggest....well if you are willing to get up here to the Chicago/Wisconsin areas...Anime Central is pretty fun. Geek.Kon is also my local con and it is growing massively... biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin Probably too far, heh, heh.

H-haha, but I'd feel bad dragging you all the way up here. Especially because I never know until the last minute whether or not I'm actually going or not.

AND YEA. I'll just say that photoshoot taught me I should not run anything ever again. I ran out of ideas within the first minute and I am not authoritative in the least. ;3; But we totally need to hang out some this time! I'll even have Shishi with me! But none of our costumes this year are .hack//, whoops.

Ahhh, Ayeka, it'd be so cool to see you again. And good luck finding the time to get Helba done!

*A* Isn't it so exciting when you find the boxset of a series you've wanted?! B-but sob, first season of Orphen boxset, where are you hiding?

That's a lot of cons (most in the summer, I see).
