-Mods: refile this if need be.-
I'm having a bit of a run in with the "Forbidden and Limited list" or "The Boning list" as a few people I know have renamed it. My problem is this: In Magic, which is a lot more complex than yugioh, there are no restrictions despite the fact that some cards are literally impossible to defeat. However, here in yugioh, they've banned cards like Graceful Charity, Magician of Faith, or Pot of Greed. Why? Why make the freaking cards if you're not going to allow them to be used? While I'm on that subject, why did they even bother to PRINT the God cards if they aren't allowed to be used period? What is their logic. If I'm going to spend money to buy cards, I'm gonna use them no matter what some suit somewhere says. That said, this is now open for discussion.

Why did they bother printing unplayable God cards? For collectors. Though, there's a legal version of Obelisk, and there should be legal versions of the other two gods on their way.
Want to use forbidden cards? Play Traditional Format.
Why ban cards? To change the metagame around, nerf a broken deck, etc.
Don't like it? Don't play it.

Nathan The Gray In Magic, which is a lot more complex than yugioh, there are no restrictions despite the fact that some cards are literally impossible to defeat. Magic has like, 4 or 5 different formats, all with different restrictions. Get your facts straight, idiot.

I agree with Aurora Sonata. I normally play advanced format, but I switch to traditional every now and then. I've also got a legal Obolisk, but the card I really want is The Winged Dragon of Ra.

As has been mentioned, the Advanced Format list is only there to improve the level of play in tournaments. If you don't like the list use the Traditional list with your friends and small tournaments.

I remember a deck that won in an 04' tourney (memories a little sketchy on the date). There was absolutely no skill in the deck. I think that over half of the cards in there are now forbidden. I LOVE the Ban list.

I think its been seen already in this thread that people are okay with the Banned List existing. Sure we gripe about it every now and then, but without it the game would get boring. Fast. And it would die out.
It's true that Yugioh isn't as multifaceted as Magic: The Gathering, which reprints previous cards into current sets and even adds new ways to play the game constantly, it has one factor that Yugioh lacks; Mana.

Pretty much, the ban list is for tournaments.
If you don't like it, don't use it amongst your friends.

Well, in my opinion this discussion kinda can go both ways. I think it's good that they banned SOME cards from tournaments, but i'm not happy that they banned some of the more "harmless" cards. Graceful Charity and Pot of Greed were some cards that i think didnt really need to be necessarily banned, but they should have been limited. However, some of the most "exploitable" cards like Tsukuyomi, Sinister Serpent, and Magician of Faith are ones that i think need to stay on the forbidden card list (no matter how much i dont like it). With that said, in my overall message i think that they should at least ease up on the list just a little... confused

The_Legendary_Zaku i may not like the ban list. hell alot of people dont like it... just the way the game works... keeps you thinking.. and building... and most importantly playing... Evolution. It's what keeps the card game franchise going. Whether its good or bad goes both ways. But a bad evolution can later evolve into a good one.

Maybe it's just me, but you know I tend to associate boning as a good thing.
