Hey guildies:
I was considering beginning a Compendium/Dictionary type forum where we could collectively add/define/clarify any topics that seem foreign to the less experienced Net Slummers. I've noticed a particular trend of questions, such as "who are the .hackers?" which made me consider doing this. The way I see it, not everyone knows about the .hack// games, and not everyone knows about the .hack// anime or .hack//manga scene (for whatever reasons). Therefore, I think it would be beneficial for us to have a dictionary/reference guide to which people can refer if they become confused about a certain topic.
Of course, the guide would also include factoids about the more active guildies, specifically beginning with the the Captain through the Crew, though other, more memorable members may be added. This would include abbreviations on names (PPN for Pink Plastic Ninja, Saucey for Sauce-Kay, etc.), certain events (a thread comic between Shialu and fk12), or infamous moments (Clownie and Griever's wedding, my random pairings), and other things that remain guild-exclusive. This way it isn't solely a repeat of .hack//wiki.
So, some food for thought: Would this be a good idea? Why/Why not? What should it include .hack//-wise? What should it include guild-wise? What "common sense" should be included/excluded? Can you think of anything else to add for guild improvement?

Since what you're proposing is essentially a mega-sticky, I wouldn't mind writing up posts with quick answers and compiling links and info for it. All I ask is that in the list of guildies I get something like
Dill - eh likes to win avatar arenas and doesn't afraid of anything.
Would this be a good idea? Why/Why not?
In a perfect world where people read stickies before posting, this would be awesome. It would keep the number of OMG GUYS I FOUND A REAL MMO THEY'RE MAKING AND IT'S SOOOOOOO GOOOOD 4laugh 4laugh 4laugh down and actually let us stagnate into nothing.
This isn't a perfect world where everyone reads the stickies before posting.
So, this means it gets a post-use as well. The presence of a mega-sticky will make handling repeat threads a lot more cut and dry; Someone posts repeat/shitty thread, guild-mod posts link to mega-sticky and tells them what part to look for, thread gets locked and everyone shuffles along at a happy pace.
Good, quick, times.
What should it include .hack//-wise?
General info that gets reposted all the time. LINK game info, CC2 new game info, general character and story information, and a generalized statement on the fanbased MMO in production, as well as one word statements about places like the wiki, altimitcorp and dothackers (their use, and whether they still exist as they did before. Could be expanded upon to include scanlation groups?) All character information, or even just general information, should not be direct lifted from the wiki, as that's just ******** lame.
What should it include guild-wise?
Information on guild crew, a general run-down of each subforums usage, and links to threads that have general use/importance that do not need to be reposted, like the bump thread for spam or the avatar arena sticky. Also information on whether or not we are running any guild contests.
What "common sense" should be included/excluded?
DON'T POST TO TELL US ABOUT THE MMO. WE ALREADY KNOW. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
Can you think of anything else to add for guild improvement?
give me ur monies lol jk
There.
