Looking at these really shows how the weight is in the least healthy places on my body...also that I look really bad with extra weight because I have small hips and wider shoulders. So many reasons to get rid of it!

To show myself that I am serious about this, I'm starting this journal so I can see my own progress and motivate myself.

1 glass skim milk

Instead of hanging around feeling gross wondering what to do if I get bored, I hop on the treadmill for another go. Awesome stress relief and lots of fun when I've got music playing in my headphones!

Breakfast
Bowl of Special K

Lunch
=(

Snack
1/2 a grapefruit
Sm. bowl of Smartpop (plain)

Dinner
Salad

Exercise
Walked to and from work - 50 mins

Notes
Today was a weird day. I didn't eat very much of anything.
Had a BAD day. Ate more popcorn with some melted butter. Didn't get on the treadmill. I feel pretty bad. I know I didn't binge on chips or cake or something, and I still got some walking in, but...man. I REALLY need to keep my motivation up.

This is going to be a looong and difficult journey. gonk

I'm a little concerned that this is going to become an obsession...in maybe not so great of a way. I feel like I am beating myself up really badly today over slipping up just a little. I'm feeling depressed and restless and angry at myself, and I hardly did anything wrong.

I'm going to have to try and keep this in check...hold onto a positive attitude.

Nice work on the exercising!
Treadmills rule.

Just remind yourself,
every little change is a step in the right direction.
Even if you don't eat perfectly one day,
you probably ate better than you might have before.

Small, maintainable steps.
Nobody gets it perfect the first week. smile

So.

It's been a while. Almost a year, I think.

Unsurprisingly, not a lot has changed as far as my body goes. I'm still hovering around the same weight I started out with (I think, I don't have a scale anymore to check!).

A lot has changed in my life though - I moved to a new city and am job-hunting right now. I'm feeling pretty positive about it all. I noticed an immediate change once I switched to being in a new home and totally independant. I'm eating much less. In a good way. My portion sizes are under control because I can't afford to eat more than I should. And I didn't bring my car with me so I HAVE to walk everywhere.

I'm going to try and pick this up again. I don't think today was fantastic but I have to write it down anyway, don't I?

October 23 2010

Coffee with H&H
2 pieces of whole wheat toast with marg. and p.b.

Roasted veggies
2 vegan cookies with soy cream cheese for dessert

Delicious vegan dinner tonight! I am not vegan but a friend of my sister's made dinner for us tonight, and she is. I'm going to get some of her recipes off her because she is super-healthy and cooks the most yummy food.

Snack
1 muffin

Dinner
PB&J Sandwich. Shaaaame.

Exercise
~40 mins brisk walking (daily Mon-Fri for the last five months)

Notes
Trying to get back on track. I have at least dropped 7lbs since the last time I wrote in here.

Since I started school, I walk 40 mins a day five days a week, and I also stand all day on those days, and am quite active throughout. I'm a hairstylist, which is actually more active than it may seem, especially including helping clean the entire building every afternoon at the end of the school day.

You eat less than I do, and exercise MORE than I do. I'm sure if you keep this up you will loose lots of weight. Just be careful not to lose more than 2% your body weight per week. You do not want to sacrifice muscle mass. Also, my suggestion would be to try to make breakfast the larger, or at least of equal size, meal of the day.

A PB sandwhich for dinner eek how are you not starving to death? Last night I had a 12 inch veggie sub, with cheese and ranch dressing, and then a frigging bag of buttery popcorn cause my brother always has to get the biggest bag and then eats a handful and gives the rest to me. gonk

I don't know...I've never eaten much. I just don't always eat healthily.

Thanks for the suggestions. =) I'm trying to have better breakfasts...mostly I have to learn to make time for them, because I always seem to be running out the door.
