...be interested in a lesson or two on Blender? Not sure if this is the right place, but I thought I'd see if anyone is interested!

Blender's a 3-D software program that can be used to make a wide variety of things, ranging from 3-D animation to 3-D games (not to mention art!!). I'm just a beginner myself, but I could come up with some teaching materials and/or assignments if there was an interest. smile

I might. I've heard of Blender before, but I've never downloaded it because I wasn't sure if it was right for me :/
I'll give it a try today though, and I'll probably need a bunch of help XD

Yeah, it's really fun. smile It's got a bit of a steep learning curve sometimes though. There are lots of good online resources, however.

I saw all the buttons and was like "ok, maybe I'll play with it later" >///<;
It looks really cool though. I'm watching a video made with it, http://www.vimeo.com/2233809 , and so far it seems worth the learning curve.

Yeah, Blender can do some amazing stuff. ^_^ I'm always impressed by it, particularly since it's free.

Really? Two programs, huh? I'm on a mac now but I don't remember having to install anything else before (I used to be a pc user)~ :/ Oh well, it's worth it once you actually get it running, I think smile

But yeah, be wary that there are looots of buttons and tools and stuff. Don't get too overwhelmed. ^^; At the beginning, though, you'll only be using "object" and "edit" mode for the most part. And a lot of the tools you can just ignore until you get used to it.

It's essentially a full wiki-style e-book. It isn't always perfect, but some of the first things they ask you to model are a good way to start. ^^

I had to install something called "python" and something from Microsoft, but it's working so I'm not complaining. I'll check out the tuts later, right now I've got a lesson to work on for my mentees, but thanks very much for the link heart
