So guys and gals, I would like to know what you all think about Marge Simpson appearing nude in the November's edition of Playboy.

I've read that she will not be totally nude and conflicting reports as to whether or not she will be the centerfold. Also the Marge cover will only be available in new stands and such, not through subscription. Apparently sales are down and Playboy is reaching out to a younger demographic.

Here is a link to the upcoming cover. It does not link to the Playboy site, only the cover image (and a small one at that!)

Anyone anyone? She IS an animated character, so I do feel this is a relevant topic.

It seems more than a bit strange to me, quite honestly. I guess it's a good thing that they're using an "older" woman, but at least when I watched the Simpsons in the past, I never once thought of Marge as a sexual character. I guess I was wrong?

On a side note, it'd make more sense if it was ... I dunno, Louis from Family Guy? :/

Hmm, I had something more to say, but it eludes me right now. XD Oh well.

Well, to start with, I think it is totally wrong of them to put her on the cover if she is not going to be completely nude inside the magazine. Naked people are kind of the Playboy thing unless I'm mistaken? So it's more or less false advertising. You see someone on the cover, be they a cartoon or otherwise, and the expectation is that by buying it you get to see them naked.

Other than that, man, so what if she's a cartoon character? You may or may not have watched Simpsons as a kid, but you're fooling yourself if you "never thought of Marge as a sexual character." IIRC there are flashback episodes where she is super kinky, and non-flashback ones where she and Homer are eluded to have sex (in his Mr. Plow jacket, on a golf course, etc etc etc). She may not be explicitly sexual all the time, but there is a reason many of my friends think of Marge Simpson as THE cartoon wife to marry.

What was I talking about? Right, cartoon characters naked. So what? There's tons of that on the internet. It would be ridiculous for playboy to not try and tap that market, especially if their sales are down. I think it's hilarious that "reaching a younger audience" = "naked cartoons," like if that's really the reasoning, what does that say about the influence of Japanese culture? Since most naked cartoons are thought of as "hentai," I mean.

I guess I must've missed those references as a kid. :/ Well, sorry. I guess I don't have much to offer to the conversation.

I don't see how its really reaching out to a younger demographic - Simpsons has always been primarily an adults oriented series (or at least pg-13), but it does tackle a more mature humor. Cartoons do not equal kids all the time. I just see it as a publicity stunt.

I can see them doing it. They showed Bart's p***s in the Simpsons movie.

Yeah, seriously, why put her on the cover and not have her nude. I heard the raciest pose is in a sheer negligee. (shrug) I'm not into Playboy and I don't intend to buy the November edition.

It does seem semi-hentai. But to be honest IMO, The Simpsons don't seem all that "relevant" at the moment. A couple of my friends mentioned wanting to see Louis as well and she might have been a better choice.
Or would she have done Hustler? rofl

I'll be interested in seeing how it does.

I thought it was funny when I first heard it, and still think it's funny now. I'm considering buying the issue I think it's that funny!

Cartoon porn has been really popular for a long time. The only reason so many people have a problem with what playboy's done is because Marge is such an iconic figure. If it were some other nameless cartoon character then nobody would give a second glance.

As long as nothings getting hurt I don't see how it's a problem.

I would consider buying a copy if I could find one here in France.
It's a brilliant idea I think.

I've seen some of the images online. She shows nips!!! eek

"Inside, she features in a three-page spread including a centrefold pullout, and there is an interview entitled "The Devil in Marge Simpson".

And I saw the interview page and her centerfold stats. 26 26 26?! What? She's a tube?!

Anyone bought it yet? A lot of people online seem to like the idea, while some are creeped out. I saw whatever floats your boat I guess.

No Playboy in France?

The Simpsons family is an American icon. It has been for years and years and years. The same goes for Playboy (its logo is one of the most renown/marketed symbol).

For the two to go together, it makes things interesting and accents the fact that The Simpsons IS the "average American (<******** up) family". It's why the show was so great.

Even if Marge is an animated character, I find it empowering for her to be featured. Marge is a housewife, mother to three, with a slob of a husband. This is a HUGE contrast to the stereotypical sexy women with the perfect breasts, perfect bodies, perfect everything all in their early 20's.

Are middle-aged women (with the kids, the housekeeping, the general house-wife duties) not allowed to be seen as sexual beings? Does all of that feminine-sexual-prowess that I know EVERY matured woman has, lost after the 'golden years' of being 2X?

I do agree that it is a publicity stunt (not sure for which party), but all things already said so far aside, I think it's brilliant for amusement purposes and if anyone decides to interpret it as I have, for the feminine-empowerment.

Plus, there was even a parody/crack!feature where Marge had a tryst with QUAGMIRE from Family. And another episode where she almost had an affair with Flanders (single father with two kids and a HUNKY HUNKY BODY who is a saint).

It's not a surprise to use Marge at all. :]

Maybe if they use some female animated character from Nickelodeon or Disney.. then I might be slightly disgusted (I'd still find it hilarious though.)
