What do you LIKE about yaoi?

whats some of your favorite things about yaoi?

I like shipping in general, because I love character interaction and relationships with different dynamics. So obviously, slash-shipping is shipping, and therefore I do it. Two male characters interacting in a romantic way is fun.

i just love how unlike straight pairings, these pairings are much more dynamic.

Like others, I like how it's different, and in some, deals with such things people would normally overlook. Also makes me happy that these mangaka who draw/write it show that they are not homophobes, makes it feel more accepting. I can go on, but I'll stop here.

I prefer Yaoi to Hentai, Yuri and all the others for serveral reasons.

First: in Hentai, boy meets girl, they date for two pages then are in bed even if they don't have anything in common.
Second: in all other forms it is two people/monsters meet and either have sex, rape they other or start a bondage sceen. (not that I have anything against S&M or DBD)

I like Yaoi because first the story is set in a place, even a little history or major landmark is mentioned. Then you meet each character seperatly and learn a bit about what makes each of them tick. Then they meet, through some other plot device. Then they may date and get to know each other, after doing this for awhile. Then they make the chioce to further their relationship. now this is also where it is different it is not just "Wham Bam! thank you Ma'am!" They kiss and cuddle, have foreplay, then when they are ready, They have sex. You may get a little less sex action throughout the story, but what you do get is realistic and grand.

I love the story lines (I won't say plot because sometimes (more than less) there IS no plot rofl ) and how funny and weird things can get with the blushy uke and the badass seme and after a few sex scenes and even more make-out scenes, the story is completed with slightly a bit more amounts of awesome. 3nodding

But in all seriousness (what, I can be serious when it counts. It just...usually doesn't count.) I like it because it's entertaining and since I'm a hedonistic b***h, entertainment is like oxygen to me. Man-on-man sex is hot, therefore I like it : D

Plus, the characters are way more lovable. There's rarely a character I really hate in yaoi manga and anime etc. but almost always at least one in "normal" series (and usually several if it's generic shoujo).

But it's mostly the porn.

Sometimes it's refreshing to see a boy/boy couple compared to the typical boy/girl scenarios.

Of course I have peeves in yaoi too but I usually don't care what I read as long as it entertains me in some way.

What I really love is how it draws in so many fans but then I dislike it when people bash another taste. I think we should stick together and fight against the people bashing yaoi in general.

Our community is beautiful though. Lol.

(BTW, I love some of the intricate plots I find in yaoi or shounen-ai sometimes while. It's like I'm digging for gold and I finally succeed and it's like: YES! XD)

i just find yaoi to be somehow more pure and meaningful than a normal pairing.
i'm not so much into smut, so at least in yaoi, you have a**-grabbings other than breast-grabbings.
and i like it when the ukes are more innocent and blushy than your average woman-whore.
and in a way, im kind of more sexist to women in manga. so it being a boy instead makes me love the character even more.
i donno. yaoi just seems much more sweeter and more romantic. as well as hotter. :'D

I find it more dynamic than any other types of relationships, to be honest. That, and the fact that when it comes to being a published, major story, there's substance and plot galore, usually. It's something different and, in some ways, altogether better than other types of relationships.

Yaoi is interesting because the relationship means something. And the characters are almost so realistic, you can relate to their emotions *w* i just love it. And come on, two(or more *wink) hot men cuddling X3 makes me smile!
But in general, yaoi is LOVE
