I just bought my own copy of the Star Trek Motion Trilogy now that I've moved away from home. I pop in the dvd, and a trailer for the new movie came on. I was fumbling for the menu button when I happened to look up and see this flash by: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn110/_h2/ss.png

Was that in the movie? Do you remember it at all? I saw it 8 times in theatre. 8 times. And I don't remember seeing this once. Call me crazy but I don't think it was in there. o.o Deleted scene perhaps?

Deleted scene. You'll also notice McCoy's (Karl Urban) expression is much more wide-eyed while telling Kirk that "space is disease and danger, wrapped in darkness and silence."

I saw that too. I kinda wish it was in the movie. XD

Yeah I saw that in the trailer, but when I came to see the movie they didn't show that. I guess it's a deleted scene.

I saw that in every tv trailor they had. But it probably ended up being cut.
I have a running theory that movies put together these trailors before they are completely done editing so people have already seen these clips after they've been removed from the film.

@Lavendar L: Yeah it makes sense, I guess we'll see that scence in the special features when the DVD comes out.

It is a deleted scene. According to the information around on the net the second disc of the DVD (which comes out in November) will have the deleated scenes, one being about the baby Spock.

I kinda wish that scene was on the movie though! 3nodding

Yup, deleted scene.

It was really cute, though I can see why they took it out. There really wasn't a point to it.

Sometimes scenes are deleted, some times lines. Commercials or
trailers can include either before they were deleted.

This happens with other movies and television shows as well.
"Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" had a line in the commercials
that never appeared in the movie.
(When he disguised himself and infiltrated that tribe at night,
during the tribal dancing, the line
"Gangway, baby!" was said in some commercials,
but it's not in the movie.)
In that case, it was easier to make a change, since we can't read
his lips at that moment.

In the 90s television show, "In Living Color", they resolved a
cliffhanger in a scene that was teased in commercials all week.
"That was for Rodney King. I hope you got that on videotape."
When the episode aired, neither sentence appeared.
(Which, frankly, was a good idea.)

If they kept it in the movie, you get Spocks Birth, then Kirks.... And it'll would be repetative. Not only that, where would you put the scene? If you put it after the opening scene, it becomes chronologically confusing. You put it before, and it's dead space.

I kinda wish they had integrated all the deleted scenes (in the DVD/BD release) back into the main movie a la TMP. That would have been really slick.
