How's we all doing, just wrote a fluff battle report that's about 4,000words. Me and me friend were in need of something to do, so I allowed him to use me blood axe orks against me. Of course I allowed him to use my brother's basilisk, leman russ and hellhound as looted wagons, while I used my fully painted army in return.

Sorry for the bad gramma and if it's too much beheading in the story, I did it while I was half-sleepy and the fact that I didn't intend to actually like this (It was a good idea though I think) and it hasn't been revised. Comments about the battle are at the end.

***

On the planet campaign of Lucius IV, the 14th Whosville guardsmen regiment, 6th company revered to get going, already there were sentinels impetuously lifting their heads off from the ground and making steps infront of the army, the leman russ was getting polished in a confident look-forward to victory and soldiers were somewhat delightfully placing on their gear for the oncoming fight.

Strolling out from his tent with his arms tied behind him Major Flint had his head up high and was off to survey his army. After arriving on this war torn world of the greenskin, Major Flint had looked for many easy victories where these greenskin were either offguard or in small numbers, he took every chance he could and was able to avoid the main Waagh! Without his men knowing. As a result Major Flint believed now his men were filled with so much morale and confidence to fight off the main horde, let alone all the victories were giving him political support amongst the public.

About to see if those crewmen had that Valkyrie ready yet, Flint was stopped by the sudden stamp of feet and turned about unbemused to see it was his bumbling logistic. Struggling to grasp breath to speak up to the Major, Flint sighed. “What is it Logistic Yale?”

“Sir I really think attacking the main horde now is a bad idea, we haven’t confirmed our ammo supplies and won’t have time to fully equip our troops and-.”

Before the Logistic continue, Flint halted him with his hand in front of his face. “As long as they have working las-rifles, storming valkyries and a leman russ, it’s all we need and by that sights of it we do have those things.”

“But sir, we haven’t had time to correct the tank’s main cannon’s projector and the lascannon has had a fixed adjust power measure-”

“It won’t matter!” Stormed Major Flint. “If the tank does not somehow fire, we can crush the greenskin under its tracks and we’ll be just as well giving them hails of autocannon fire and our valkyries will raise hell on them!”

The logistics had already fled half way through the Major’s speech, coward his rage and giving up to his arrogance. As the Major though saw that was that, he turned about with his hands tied behind him and chest out. He would win this war for his homeworld and gain power enough to raise him through the ranks.

*

Many orks were restless today with all the captured tanks they captured from yesterday’s fight. They broomed around on their bikes across the field and circled around the looted wagons and fired up in the air.

Leaning against his bike, Barrok was thinking on how to catch those blue-dressed humies. They wouldn’t stop picking off his boyz he left behind or went ahead and it was becoming rather cowardly, even for humie standards let alone gretchins.

Driving up to him suddenly in his bike, one of his lads, Bashblitz yelled out. “Boss itz da humies der coming dis way!”

“Ya mean dos blue ones!” Jumped Barrok surprised by this.

“Yeah de’ve got all der stuff heading for uz!”

“Well wot ar’ ya doing, get da uder ladz, lets going and get them!” Barked Barrok jumping onto his bike.

Though Bashblitz had no need to tell the others that there was going to be a fight. Soon as Barrok drove off impatiently, the other orks that were driving in their bikes tailed after them, while the looted wagons boomed back to life, revived by the mekboyz of the warband and began to drive after their warboss. Orks also piled into trukks and hollowed and screamed inside as their drivers stepped on the gas pedal and went after everybody. In the end a huge storm of tar and dust erupted the sky as the ork warband heaved back into life again.

Using his binoculars to witness the ork army, Major Flint could see they were quite the rambling site. On his right flank, he could see two stolen leman russes with active battle cannons and on his left were engines brooming through ruins and house buildings and in the centre was a team of warbikers heading right for them.

Pulling his binoculars, he saw his guardsmen aligned infront of him and the two platoon squads. They weren’t too keen to be providing fodder, but Major Flint had found a few ways. On the left flank, one of his platoons had been shuffled into one of the remnants of a building and guarding their left flank was another platoon that were hardly noticeably if anything came to the right, being protect by the walled remains of what might have been a citadel.

On the ruin’s right flank was the leman russ battle tank that sat and guarded in front of Major Flint’s staff and had another guardsmen platoon on its other flank that felt somewhat comfortable but still in the open. Beside them though was the platoon armed with the lascannon that was sitting down prepared to greet the two looted wagons with high powered anti-tank power.

Other than that the one platoon command was hiding behind of the occupied ruin and the other was standing in between the two platoons on the right flank. Not such a bad positioning though Major Flint seeing as orders could be called out from that distance and his guardsmen were aligned with fire power.

But as for his sentinel, it was standing along aside the platoon regiment ready to harass the ork enemy, while the Valkyrie stormed ahead towards the ork army to get there before it. All that was needed for Major Flint now was for it to begin.

***Orks turn 1***

Raging on his bike, anticipating the taste for war, Barrok roared out in a mad Waagh! Ahead of his ork bikers as he saw the enemy. Responding to his loud roar, the two stolen leman russes belched fire at the enemy.

With the screech of fire coming over head, the two platoons on the right were hit between them, guardsmen were ripped apart by the cannons, with their flak jacket and flesh futile to the destruction it caused. The platoon command was also hit, losing it’s vox caster suddenly from the unexpected opening bombardment.

(4 guardsmen killed in the lascannon squad and 6 killed in the squad beside it, with the vox-caster killed in the platoon command behind it)

A vicious wail fallowed up after the warbikers saw from their distance the firepower their cannons had caused.

***Imperial guard turn 1***

As soon as Lieutenant Brig recovered from that sudden impact he climbed slowly from the dirt and stared around him in shock. In that one blast he had saw more men dead around him then any of the battles on Lucius IV. It was sickening as lying beside him, was his good lad Hicker, who was very competent vox-caster and in front of him his two platoons had been dragged down to half strength.

In immediate reaction to this, Brig could not stand the sight and turned and fled, as his staff saw him suddenly flee panicking, the only reaction they came to was to follow him. The platoon that had lost the most damage in that fire were in agreement and turn and fled as well, already wanting to get out of this. The platoon with the lascannon though was still holding and keen that they could get revenge.

*
As Major Flint was overdraught by such immense carnage caused by one volley and saw that louse Lieutenant Brig run for the hills, Major Flint was more than sure that his family had only given him away was because they could afford to. Nevertheless, Major Flint snatched the vox-speaker from his vox-caster and yelled.

“What in Emperor’s name are you doing!” Shouted Major Flint to the fleeing platoon. “This is your politician and leader speaking, don’t be cowards, we are the hundredth-fourty-seventh Whosville regiment and we need to make those greenskin pay for what they have just done-!”

Hearing the sudden shout from their leader, the platoon turned around realising it wasn’t over and returned to normal again, believing that their leader would get them through this.

As Major Flint continued to try and restore order, the armoured sentinel rushed forward ahead of the army firing it’s autocannon at the stolen wagons front armour, hitting into them. Sadly though, with two successful shots, they were both deflected by what remained of the tanks. There was even more evidence from this when the valkyrie swerved through the air, managing to ignore the ricochet of ork fire attention it caught and zoomed down with its lascannon to hit into one of the looted leman russ’s side. The shot hit but appeared to have caused nearly no damage onto the crude vehicles.

Finishing his lecturing speech to the rallied platoon squad, Major Flint pointed to one of the looted leman russes and ordered to his platoon with the lascannon. “I want that thing brought down now, you hear me!”

In response, the squad opened fire with its lascannon, but the order was given too hasty and fired out into midair above the looted wagon. It was now becoming to Major Flint that he should have probably thrown his men to the firing range more.

(Only crew shaken had effected the tanks)

*

With most the Major Flint’s attention focused on the right flank, Lieutenant Roger felt the need to get the men active for the warbikers speeding right at them. Hastily calling out, the lieutenant yelled. “Right men hop to it, present arms and fire!”

Reacting first was the earth-shattering roar of the leman russ cannon. Its fire hit into the smoke storm of the warbikers, only a couple were thrown out off their bikes from the impact, with plenty more riding to them. The two squads nearby the ruins though also opened fire and snaps of lasfire hit into the orks and there was notice as more of the greenskin’s tires were shot flattened or hit off their bikes.

(Leman russ kills two with its main cannon and another one with its heavy bolters, Lieutenant performs ‘First rank fire, second rank fire’ onto one platoon and the two platoons kill another three bring the total to six)

***Orks turn 2***

It was intended to be in the open amongst the guardsmen to attract all their fire; Barrok could handle it while his trukks had more of a chance of getting closer. But what he did not intend was his boyz to be steering around and dashing off suddenly. Angry at the sudden cowardness, Barrok wrestled his bike around and chased after him, leaving a cheering cry as his boyz ran, how the ork warboss swore he’d have them for this.

The rest the warband continued to push forward and kept fighting. The commander of the leman russ had banged against the walls of his confined space once the lascannons hit, causing him to be half knocked out momentarily. With no response though from the gunner and rather than doing nothing, the driver of the tank drove forward wanting to get in the fight. Going along with it, the other stolen leman russ drove forward as well with it rather than fire it’s guns.

Driving forward on the orks right flank, the transport vehicles kept going forward through hedges and smashing through buildings. The stolen hellhound though chose to unveil itself once he saw most of the trukk’s big shootas were being attracted to the flying skimmer above them. It came behind the valkyrie and reached out a jet of flames that consumed the it.

Regardless that the crew inside was shielded and its armour was near impenetrable to the flames, it was still able to melt the engines enough to jam them. Soon as the Valkyrie re-emerged it went diving into the ground and exploding, making the looted hellhound crew howl out and such splendour.

(Looted wagon’s sckorcha’s goes behind the valkyrie and penetrate it and score immobilise causing it to be wrecked)

Moving on ahead, the big shoota of one of the trukks fired into the guardsmen ahead of them standing beside to ruins. In the open like this, the guardsmen were shredded immediately and torn apart helplessly under the thunder hail.

(Four guardsmen killed by trukk’s big shootas and another one get’s killed by the second trukk leaving the total count to five)

***Imperial guards turn 2***

Stress was starting to overwhelm Major Flint as he saw his Valkyrie brought down like that and he had so many plans for it on his victory celebration when he returned home with it. There was also the problem that the squad hit by the trukks had begun fleeing after suffering hits and that his lieutenant was the first to do anything by turning away the ork horde’s bikers.

Regaining control, Major Flint yelled into the Vox-caster. “Men why haven’t you brought down those ork tanks yet, hurry up and fire!”

The way Major Flint wasn’t helping them any better, the lascannon shot open and fire into the stolen leman russ. Surprisingly though, the lascannon hit right into the front of the tank, but with the lascannon to rushed to recharge probably, did not phase hard enough to cause any serious damage.

(Squad with lascannon is issued order ‘Bring it down’ hits successfully, but fails to harm!)

The armoured sentinel clattered forward in a mad speed and went into ruins with a tree that would have regrown inside the building if it still stood. Before the sentinel took cover though it fired a few autocannon shots before sheltering inside, but failed to hit.

*
Only faced with vehicles now, streams of lasfire shot at the trukks, attempting to pick the orks sticking their heads out and yells at them, but the guardsmen fire were futile. The autocannons though just failed to hit another, while the leman russ’s cannon ripped open again but fired to wildly with its men unable to get a good lock with its projector aim not adjusted properly.

One of the guardsmen took a heroic step out from the ruins and levelled his grenade launcher. His comrades yelled at him to get back, but the guardsmen continued to aim and fired his grenade that sprung out and hit against the screaming gunner on one of the trukks and blowing his head off in a direct hit.

(Everything misses, except grenade launcher which destroys weapon of one of the trukks.)

***Orks turn 3***

Ignoring the fact that their gunner had been hit off, the leading trukk drove on and finally came to a halt amongst the lying corpses of all the guardsmen they had shoot at, that had been standing next to the ruined building. The other trukk came behind it and simultaneously unloaded dropped their ramps into the ground.

Stamping onto the dirt first, the Nob let out an earth bash Waagh! And other orks did the same as they came out, letting their presence be known to the imperial guards that were standing nearby them. Though in the haste of their sudden adrenaline, one of the shootas were trampled underneath his own brethern’s steel toe-capped boots and killed just like that.

(Waagh! Declared one ork died due to a roll of one)

As their infantry did so, the trukks stop any chance of the guardsmen stopping this by providing covering fire. A stream of bullet’s hit across the ancient marble walls and into the open windows gunning down any who dared to try and aim their lasguns out.

(Trukks fired, two guardsmen killed)

The looted leman russes opened fire again as their crew recovered from the stunning fire and blasted their boom guns. With not much to fire at, they aimed at the sentinel and leman russ but blasts went off course and exploded somewhere else.

The choppas all dashed forward into the buried ruins where all the guardsmen tried repelling them. The first to taste bladed steel was the lucky grenade launcher who did not know what to do, now that he was out in to open and had his head chopped out. Other guardsmen soon followed, regardless that they were able to fit bayonets underneath the ruins and present they were still slaughtered by the pressing choppas.

(Imperial guard kills one choppa, choppas kills until there’s simply nothing left)

Firing guns at the platoon command, Lieutenant Roger was wishing that his man holding the heavy flamer would get it ready, but was having trouble working it after not being checked. Understanding he would need more time, Roger rushed forward to meet the orks with his chainsword brimming with life and slashed it to the first greenskin that came, gashing its whirling teeth against the ork’s chest. Uselessly though, Roger’s uncleansed chainsword was caught in the dead ork’s hard flesh and before he could free it, a greenskin crashed into him hurling him to the ground and firing point-blank into his head, obliterating him. To follow was the rest of Lieutenant’s Roger’s staff which were gutted down.

(Platoon command kills one shoota, shoota just manage to kill everything)

***Imperial guard turn 3***

Everything was just falling apart, nearly his entire left flank was gone, but Major Flint was determined not to lose everything here. The ork choppas had begun trying to climb the leman russ trying to kill the crew inside so as to add it to their collection. Not wanting to be a part of its wealthy collection though, the leman russ drove ahead shaking the choppas off it and heading amongst the looted tanks that awaited it.

Ignoring the sentinel hiding, the looted ork tanks went on ahead to join the furry madness of the battle on ahead. Taking the opportunity though, the sentinel stormed out from its cover and fired it’s autocannons directly behind the tank, but failed to shoot it as the sentinel kept doing. Frustrated by how lousy his gun was working, The sentinel pilot decided a more head on approached and galloped behind the stolen tank and kicked it, but failed to harm it’s armoured backside. Not only that but the lascannon had hit again but failed to penetrate.

With choppa’s right in the open, Major Flint ordered the imperial squad that had been earlier rallied to converge on the orks with him and moved in. No idea that the guardsmen were moving in on them, major Flint cracked his pistol fire into one of the greenskin’s side skull and dropping its hulking mass into the ground. After that, the heavy flamer of his squad heaved his weapon up and burned the mass pile of orks with its weapon.

(One ork shot by commander’s las pistol, heavy flamer kills seven)

Stumbling from the flaming carnage, the choppa’s were about to roar at the humie command furious, but Major Flint shouted out. “Platoon open entire fire!” And like that they were brought down by a barrage of lasfire by the vengeful guardsmen.

(Company commander issues ‘First rank fire, second rank fire’ killing all three remaining choppas)

***Orks turn 4***

In the thick of it now as the driver wanted, the looted leman russ stormed forward into the infantry platoon that had shot down the choppa’s early. With quick reflexes though and giving early warning with the clatter of the enemy vehicle, the guardsmen scattered out of the way and allowed the tank to go pass them. But as the vehicle did so, its gunner rattled his ammunition as it drove through picking off some of the guardsmen.

(Trukk tank shocks and fires its big shoota into the infantry squad with autocannon and kills two)

Steering its bulk towards the sentinel that was trying to cheekily attack them from behind, the stolen hell hound moved in and opened fire it’s skorcha. But while it did that, its ramp dropped and hutting out of it was a group of keen burna boyz, who came around the tank’s sides and fried opened its weapons onto the sentinel. Little to protect it from all this thrown flames, the pilot poked its head down trying to hide from this heat.

(5 burnaboyz and looted tank with skorcha penetrates the sentinel but only causes it to be stunned)

As that happened, the ork shoota’s ran out from behind the ruins and were letting their guns open fire as they shot into Major Flint’s staff. Such bad aiming though, Flint was able to see who was doing that under a hail of inaccurate fire.

(Shootas fire into company command and kill none, but mainly due to the medic giving 5 ‘feel no pain’ saves)

Not caring about the fact that they were missing all of their shoots, the shootas continued to run forwards and pile against the company staff. Unable to prepare themselves for this, the heavy flamer was shot down by point blank fire, while the vox-caster was bludgeoned to death by the wacks of heavy club-like guns. Able to get his hands on these orks, Major Flint had halted the charge of one of the shoota’s with his power fist bashing into the greenskin’s head, propelling backwards, while the regimental standard stopped one getting to him with his las-pistol, shooting him in the head.

***Imperial guard turn 4***

Trying to stop that looted hellhound from burning the sentinel, the leman russ rumbled forward with its steel plated room and crashed right next to the enemy vehicle’s side. With not enough force though, the leman russ failed to harm the looted hell hound.

Continuing to keep trying to fire the lascannon now that Major Flint was no longer trying to rush them, it fired its high powered beam straight at the incoming looted leman russ, but it’s exhausted high power only managed to dent against its turret, making it almost seem futile this for the guardsmen.

(Lascannon fires and stuns looted wagon)

Witnessing their leader, Major Flint in the thick of the fight, sergeant Hickerson was immediately inspired by hit brave leader and called out to his troops. “Right men, our Major needs us, let’s get in there and raise hell on those orks!” There was a somewhat cheer with such few men left in his squad and they followed behind Hickerson into the melee.

Thinking their looted tank would keep them busy, the shoota’s did not expect the remnants of that squad to charge in, allowing Hickerson and his men to swoop in a stab their bayonats into the green menaces. Overjoyed though that they could join this melee though, the greenskin battered back at the newly entered guardsmen and made short work of Hickerson and his men. The nob of the lot kept focus on the company staff while his own lot guttered the infantry squad and reached out at the medic with his choppa and beheaded him just like that as he was helpless. Trying to get revenge for the loss of him, the regimental standard attempted to gouge the end of his standard into the ork noble, but the ork pivoted back from the standard coming at him and beheaded him as well with his choppa.

Finding he was the only one left, it was enough for Major Flint to accept the fact he had lost this battle and turn and fled for his life as the greenskin were breaking the guardsmen here.

(Imperial guardsmen kill two orks, the orks kill all except Major Flint who manages to run and off the board)

***

We did continue until turn 6, but I decided not to write that down seeing as this was a severely dissapointing loss for me... well not to dissapointing, but it just had the shootas hit into my lascannon squad and kill all them and my sentinel got immobilised and weapon destroyed (Still survived though)

All I can say is what dumb luck I had, I ended to use a firing line, where my Leman russ would do most the firing, but kept missing of course and my armoured sentinel was suppose to pick out the enemy vehicles with it's autocannon but that kept missing of course. Plus next time I might as well bring more than one lascannon seeing as it was utter crap that I was relying on one of them, when I could have perhaps used more.

I also intended for my heavy flamers to burn apart the orks once they broke through, but like you saw, one squad got hit and ran, the other got charged (Just barely as well) and all were killed, but my company commander succeeded and thank lord it was a heavy one, five of those wounds were scored on a three!

All I can say is that I had really bad shooting with my anti-tank weapons and there wasn't much for my las-rifles to fire at.

The ork player though did as he intended, have a skorcha tank ready to pick off anything that came near the trukks and his warboss and bikers were made to go into the open to attract all my fire but be saved my the coversaves, what he didn't intended though was them to go off running blaugh , so there's something for me to atleast laugh at. He also expected his looted wagons to get 'Don't press that' or be blown up due to their bad armour, though they did alright.

But yeah that's my opinion, hope ye all enjoyed the battle report

I really like it actually, I thought it was really nicely set out, and the way your actual models were in the battle, and how you made excuses for everything missing and failing to penetrate.
