From the Old Topics forum, I bring you a new game: Name That Tune!
How to Play 10 songs will be chosen at random from my play list and I will post, in no specific order, one line from the lyrics that do NOT contain the title of the song. Everyone then will have the chance to guess the title and artist of the song (or if it's from, say, a musical, the show that it's from). To be fair DO NOT lyric search - try to guess these on your own. As the songs are guessed correctly, I will strike out the lyric and post the title and artist, as well as the name of the person who guessed it correctly. After all the songs have been guessed correctly, the names of the top three "guessers" will be posted in the second post of the thread.
To keep the game going, after the first set of songs have been guessed the person who won the first round will have first dibs on posting the next 10 songs from their play list. It will be up to them, if they choose to post songs, to keep up with the guesses. If no new songs are posted after, say, a week, the next round is up for grabs and whoever wants to post songs next can go for it, but will still need to keep up on the guesses. The results of all rounds will still be posted in the first post.
We'll see if we can come up with some prize for the winner, but I ain't promising nothing.

You're closer to right than me: it was Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimmee three Steps" [I looked it up]

havenne17 Is #9 "Leroy Brown" by Jim Croce? And #2, "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor? Both good songs, but not the ones listed. I don't know if many people would remember #2. When I put artist and song title in lyrics.com, only a few songs pop up on that artist, and the song I'm looking for isn't one of them. confused

Maybe we would need to stay with the, ahem, iconic or anthemic, songs. The kids at work have put the local Classic Rock station in the rotation just for me and at least one of them sings along (not just me). By 'kids' I mean young college grads so mid-20's.
hehehe, I was just giving some reasonable guesses at the songs....I played and sang "Fire and Rain" for my high school talent show.....I should take up playing again.

Thanks, Havanna, I like Fire and Rain, JT had some good stuff.
For the rest of the songs, I'll put up some hints.
