Sorry. Isn't candy a stupid word?
That was the funniest bit about Charlie and the Chocolate factory- seeing the British actors try and wrap their accents around a word they would never say in that context. You could see them going;
"Candy doesn't need to have a point..that's why it's...it's..THEY'RE BLOODY SWEETS!!"
p.s- While I am on the subject of movies, has anyone seen Legend of Zorro? Yes, I know it's crap. But how insanely political was that movie?
Ok, so America are the good guys and they are fighting for freedom against the rest of the world- particularly an evil, archaic society from Europe. The society's evil mastermind is French. When they society meets Britian disagrees with the plan to harm America and walks out of the room. Only to get blown up anyway by the French guy. America wins.
Now I am the kind of person who doesn't like looking for "political" stuff in a film and just enjoying it but my god was that particular plot (and I use the term loosely, I assure you) obvious.

Hmm..
..am I the only one suddenly feeling that we need a "Great British Sweets" thread?
Ours are so much better than American and French ones!
Sherbert lemons in summer and mint humbugs in winter. There is little better than that.
Also, I know I like them, but where are Werther's Originals from?

I like the ones which are half strawberry, half white puffyness. And marshmallows. And Werther's Originals. And Mint Imperials. And Sherbert fruits. And Wine Gums. And too many more to mention.

Quote: Also, I know I like them, but where are Werther's Originals from? They be German. read the back of the packet it like tells you there. And marshmallows are either american or eastern european. American for the modern version (they do have naturilised marhsmallow plants though) and Eastern Europe for the marshmallow plant and its accompanying root.

I like sweets, it is candy that I object to. Aren't they the same thing? I thought "candy" was just American for confectionaries from chocolate to nougat to toffee..
