I thought I would start a thread about the National Championships and Dragon Duel tournaments.
So people can just discuss how they did and anything like that.

Well I held a UK Local Qualifier and Dragon Duel Tournament in March. Had a good turn out and some good matches. I managed to give everyone 2 packs and top 8 got some good stuff too. Can't remember my prize line up, just that players got promos and packs.
I also went to a Local qualifier on 4th April. There wasn't many there but I managed to get 2nd place. I had 3-2 in the swiss and duelled against the 2 players I lost to in the swiss during the finals. I managed to beat them in the knockout and then went into the final game. First game I win easy and quick. The second game was close but I lost. Then the third was an interesting one. But in the end he beat me. But everyone was saying it was a very intence battle and was very close. Truthfully, I gave him an advantage so he could win. I pretended to mis-play a move and it gave him the advantage. He wanted to go to Nationals more then I did (I wasn't even sure I could get there) and he team and friends were going; whereas I'd be going alone. So I thought I'd give him the win but kept it interesting and on his toes.

Well I'm through to the UK finals, as long as UDI manage to organise the results with the loss of Mantis. Ukaypro was supposed to be creating a list but as the UDE results are gone there's no online record for tournaments.
If any UK members make it to the Natioanals send me a message so we can meet up.

Isn't Konami making their own Tournament Ranking Database in like a couple weeks?
Quoted from yugioh.card.com:
"KDE is also currently developing its own ranking system which will be called COSSY [Konami Card Game Official Tournament Support System] and will launch in April. “We are working on a plan that will link up Konami's COSSY rankings worldwide,” added KDE’s Hoashi."
IMO, I think since Upper Deck was wiped clean, all the Organized Play events that were originally organized and scheduled by them were canned.
In essence, Konami had to reboot the entire OP. They've begun to announce new "Official Tournament" stores which I assume means a new Hobby League is coming. With that in mind, we will all have to re-register with a new KDE number, and earn rankings based off of how we play at our individual locals.
Then, when they have the hew HL down pat, they will begin to introduce new OP events, prob. in the form of a new Regional, and eventually, a new National (and Shonen, etc...).
My friends and I have been discussing this for a bit. One of our Regional's in Canada got canned last minute due to the takeover and therefore we don't even have any qualifiers for our Nationals.
I hate to say it, and I might be wrong, but I think all who did manage to qualify are just holding pretty pieces of paper. We'll see, Konami might keep the original rankings though (if they got their hands on them).

The COSSY system was announced a few months ago. Basically COSSY will be simular to the MANTIS system. As UDE owned MANTIS I think that UDI will also used COSSY to hold Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments (and probelery all tournaments). I have spoken to someone at UDI about it, but they are unsure at the moment and so nothing is confirmed.

I'd like to see what type of tournament play Konami will implement. They've started with the Sneak Previews. I'm not sure if it was under the original organization being UDE, but if it was under Konami, how was it?

As far as I know no one knows anything, and now we know why. Well hopefully it will continue as it is less than 2 weeks away but we will have to wait and see for more news.

If that is true then it'll be interesting to see how Konami run Yu-Gi-Oh! in Europe as thay only have one base of opperation in the EU. (I think that only have one. But I know they don't have one in the UK.) So if they do take over they may find it a struggle to cope with all of us here. As UDI is all over the place and has set up a very good communtication links will all the TOs and Judges. I can pick up the phone now and talk to someone from Upper Deck in the UK. If Konami take over then that link will be lost and trying to get incontact with someone may be difficult. Also, if they do only have one base in the EU then they need people who can speak all languages within the EU so we can all communicate with each other. If not then it will all fall apart due to language barriers.
Also, if they cancelled the Nats then they'll get some really pissed off players who will ditch the game and it will die out. Even more now that it's only a week away and players have spent alot of money to get to Nats.
So I guess it'll be a waiting game now.
