Steinn Steinarr was this poet from Iceland who seems to be virtually unheard of in the USA. I've found translations of some of his poems and have really liked them, and I'd like to read more.
Does anyone know of any books with all/most of his translated poetry? Or will I have to learn Icelandic?
The only thing I can think of is to look in a big university/college library, under his real name and pen name, etc. While you may not be able to find exactly what you are looking for you might find something, like essays on his poetry which might help you out.
One of my ex boyfriends studied Old Icelandic during his master's degree in English and he was pretty big on the skalds. He even wrote some poems of his own using traditional forms. If you are super keen, you could try getting in touch with a prof who specialises in that literature and see what they recommend.
Learning Icelandic would make life easier of course if you want to really appreciate the true feeling of the poems. Of course that's up to you, but I know you like learning languages and I think it would be very rewarding for you.
