Yes, today was the first time i have seen the sun in two weeks. I happen to be an underground miner. 2 weeks in on 12 hour shifts, 2 weeks off. Gotta love being a miner. biggrin

Is this like magical fantasy dwarf mining or is this like shitty coal mining?

I live in Val-d'Or, Quebec, I work for a contractor (Dumas Mining) and they got a contract for a 2000ft slot raise (vertical tunnel) in the Westwood project.

The short answer is you can. But the only place to give official mining education is Val-d'Or. That is if you want the blue collared jobs (btw they are the best ones). Fire is a hazard there is in every mine, they are jammed packed with machinery. But the risk is kept to a minimum. There are very easy procedures to follow in case of emergencies. The risk of caving in reflects on the quality of your work. If you support the terrain above you adequately using the proprer methods, the risk is kept to a minimum. I am only telling you this because I had a great experience in "mining school" and most days at the job. But you really cant be afraid of intense physical labour; for instance, the "standard" manual rock drill (jackleg) weighs in at 90 lbs. These 90 lbs you have to bear in your arms for 3-4 hours per day. But you get used to it.

Is that why it says you've posted yet I cannot see them?
