We all have rewards for a certain amount of weight loss, and that should be enough, but sometimes people like myself get lazy to the point of not thinking clearly and eat poorly anyway.
So today out of frustration for waiting for my mom who stole my coat to come back, so I could go shopping because I was down to my last and I mean last pair of jeans. [Every other one I had was from freshman year and had developed rips in the thighs from over ware.] and I ate not only a pack of Reese's but also a fulled cup of Ice-cream and after I came back gummi bears.
B A D !
D<
So instead of sulking about my wasted weeks efforts and feeling guilty all day I decided to teach myself a lesson. Instead of Doing just 300cal for the DDR Challenge I made myself do 1000cal with no water breaks. I felt great at 800 but was near dropping when I finished. Ten minuets later aside from being a might sleepy I feel great! <3
So from now on every time I slip up badly, like have a candy bar or a big dessert I have to do 1000cal in DDR not including the 300cal if it's early enough.
So I was wondering aside from myself has anyone else taken this course of action?
Progress = Reward Recession = Punishment

That's a bit drastic, I think. You could really wear out your body that way, especially with knee injuries [depends on your level].
I used to get really depressed about such set backs, but now I take 'em as they come. It's a process. "If your stomach feels weak my work here is DONE."

Really? I didn't think of it like that. '._.
I kinda of lack motivation and I'm pretty energetic so I felt fine when I was done with it, it didn't really seem like alot.
I wanted it as a sort of "Do I really want to go throgh that for a stupid candy bar" sort of thing because to put it nicely I've got a pretty thick skull. sweatdrop

Well if you don't think you'll have to punish yourself often you might not have to worry about it too much. ^_^ Just make sure you don't over-strain yourself though.
Also, extreme exercise is one thing but don't deprive yourself of water! It's kinda important XD
I try not to punish myself because the honest truth is I'm trying to improve myself in so many ways that I feel like if I punish myself for failing any of it I won't stick with it.

Include the water breaks, you need to stay hydrated.

I love playing DDR until I'm utterly exhausted, and as far as I know it's good for you. That sounds good to me...
And guys, I think by water breaks she just meant without stopping, maybe...? Anyway, what i do is set the game to consecutive play (so it just plays a bunch of songs in a row with a certain time limit; you dont get to choose which song in between so there are no breaks) and take a quick sip of water between every song. That seems to work pretty well. I usually go through about 1 bottle (.5 L) every 30 minutes (and I play on heavy mode, if that makes any difference).

Pengs right I ment it as in stopping. sweatdrop I should have mentioned that. She does basically the same thing I do, when ever I "break for water" I take like five minuets.
It's already stopped me from eating like a half a carton of ice-cream. So Yay! 'n.n

Sounds like a good plan!
Losing weight is generally a matter of calories in vs. calories out, so instead of 'punishing' yourself, it's more like you're righting a wrong, and getting back on track.
It's GOOD to push yourself when you exercise. There is a big difference between over training and working hard. Personally, I strive to work myself to a point where I 'just about puk', ie; start to feel a burn through my stomach, and up my throat, and do HIIT (high intensity interval training) working at my peak heartrate BPM for short periods of time regularly. I feel awesome when I do, and have never had an injury yet, but I also remember a proper warmup, and proper cool down stretch.
Unless you fall into the morbid obesity category, 1000cals of DDR most likely is not going to constitute over training. Just make sure you are doing a cool down stretch afterward, drinking enough fluids, and monitoring your joints for any pain. Muscle pain gooood, joint pain generally means slow down.

In that case I think I'm doing well. I always hydrate myself and I know from experience my body can take a hell of a lot more abuse then I've been putting it through. I've caved like 3-4 times in the past two weeks but I've done over 7000cal. So I think I'll be fine. n.n

sounds like a good plan but i wouldn't think of it as punishing yourself, because that leads to a lot of guilt and frustration. think of it more as a make up for that candy bar. xD

The term punishment certainly is loaded, but I do like to think of accountability.

I like the idea of a "punishment" but I don't really think of it as a punishment, more of a way to make myself feel better. Like if I slip up I feel supper crappy, sometimes for ddaayyyss. So sometimes, if I slip up, I forbid myself from eating certain things the rest of that day or the next day. Like say I have a really fatning desert or opt for more than one desert (which I do sometimes) The next day I'll have salad or something of the like.
If there's something we have at home I'm craving, and I'm one of those people who once I start eating junk food there's no stopping me I really can't do the moderation thing. So I tell myself I can have it, IIFF I do a really good workout BEFORE. So in this case I suppose it'd be a reward.
It's been working fairly well for me. I'm probably considered to be at my ideal weight for my height. I'd be happy with an extra 5lbs lol, but I'm just trying to get more toned now. Loose the female pooch.
