Okay, this is my new story I've been working on, just looking for a bit of feedback if anyone wants to give it.
Alex was in a surprisingly bad mood for being in a place she wanted to be.
Everything had started off perfectly. She had woken up late in a bed that was fit for a queen, followed by a breakfast of hot chocolate, fresh out of the oven biscuits and jam that could have been made only moments ago. The bus ride to the next Irish town hadn’t been to bad, the bus could have been a bit less crowded but her I-pod kept her in a relatively good mood. Even the first castle had been okay, the Ivy covered walls giving her inspiration for a drawing but after that was when things started to turn down hill. Once lunch came around she found herself getting a little more annoyed at the world with each passing minute. Something was causing her irritation to grow . The only thing It wasn’t anything she could place, she just found herself going through a slowly progressing mood swing. She now found herself sitting on the curb of some random Irish street as her small school group moved though yet another historical landmark.
Rubbing her blue eye with the base of her palm she sighed and would have leaned back if there was something other then cold wet cobblestones beneath her. While she did not mind being wet, or being rained on, having it happen every moment of every day was beginning to get old. Blue eyes darted over the cobblestone street and darted over the old buildings that seemed to run up and down the street in both direction. The street was completely devoid of any kind of life other then a small black bird resting on the windowsill a few houses down.
Alex finally pulled her gaze away from the street and turned it back to the building behind her. She wasn’t sure why her teacher had dragged them to this odd little restaurant, that seemed to have more history then the last four castles put together. Sliding her hand down her side she slipped it down into her pocket and pulled out her cell phone, flicking the cover of it open to look at the time that rested on the digital screen. Tapping the screen with her long black fingernail she was about to close it when a splash appeared on the screen.
“No.” Tilting her head up she felt the first few drops of rain brush over her skin and send a shiver down her spine. “Not again.” Her soft British accent seemed harsh as she found herself pushing herself up from the ground. Moving over to the restaurant door where her school group was still touring, she knocked a few times. Sadly no one answered, probably because the old woman who had seemed to be running the place was also giving the tour. Growling she turned around and squatted down so that her bag rested between her chest and her legs, preventing the heavy rain from getting any of her papers or electronics wet. Sadly though that meant that her back and head were getting soaked.
“I swear to god if it rains on me one more time…” She uttered as she brushed a stand of her now wet black hair off her cheek and onto her shoulder.
“You’ll do what?” A voice said from above her as the relentless water suddenly died down and she found herself covered by a large black umbrella. Tilting her head to the side she looked up to see a young man, maybe a few years older then herself, holding this umbrella and looking very happy.
“Truth be told.. I’m not so sure, but I’m sure it will be something rather violent.” Her voice was soft and filled with curiosity as she stood up and slung her bag over her right shoulder, causing her black and green stripped sweater to pull up a little on her side, revealing the pale skin that showed underneath. The man’s laughter shook her to the core, which for some reason made her smile.
“Well, if you had said that then I might have not thought of offering you my umbrella.” He said, his long white hair glistening slightly from the few drops of water that had managed to hit him before he had opened his umbrella. Somehow he had managed to get the long strands into a pony tail that hung behind him, but she could see how long it was, even though she was a good five to six inches shorter then he was.
“Are you offering me your umbrella?” Moving her hand she placed it palm up, her eyes raising from their position to lock onto his seemingly gray eyes. Something behind them thought seemed different, almost like they were hiding something. When he laughed though, she realized what it was, they were not gray, they were an unnatural shade of silver that seemed to flash when he turned his head.
“Yes, I guess I am. A girl like you should not be left in rain like this… Even if you seem like you know how to deal without an umbrella.” His long arm extended forward and placed the curving hilt of the umbrella in her hand, holding it still until her fingers curled around it and pulled it closer to her chest, making sure that it was still covering him as well.
“Thanks. What are you going to do though?” Alex said and turned around to look at the closed restaurant door, which was obviously still locked. “I mean you probably need it and I am going to be here for a while…” As she spoke her head had been turning around to look back at the man. But once her head had made full rotation he was gone. And this was not, walking down the street and turning the corner gone, this was completely and utterly gone. Vanished, at least in Alex’s opinion. “…Never mind.” She said with a sigh as a click behind her finally pulled her attention away from the empty street.
“Alex?” Came a man’s voice from behind her and she turned around to see a stocky young man sticking his head out of the door, covering his cropped blond hair with what looked to be his notebook. His thick Scottish accent was hard to ignore after the other mans lack of an accent all together, or at least one that she had been unable to place. “I wanted to make sure my girlfriend wasn’t stuck standing in the rain.” Alex chuckled and shook her head at his comment. “No, I’m alright. I’ll see you when the tour is over.” Tyler nodded and stuck his head back in the door, the lock clicking as the green door shut, leaving her back in the pouring rain, with only a large black umbrella to cover her from the rain.
