One day I was in the library, since I don't have school until spring, and I dueled against someone who challenged me to an ante duel, one where you give one of your rarest cards to the opponent if you lose.
During the duel I had the feeling like he was cheating, for he somehow drew the right card at the right time and ended his last turn summoning a bunch of monsters I had no chance against. I only won because of Stardust and Spell Striker, and I end up getting an Ultimate Rare Radiant Mirror Force. Would any of you play an ante duel?

Like Yugi I treasure my cards to much to risk losing them. Also I don't like taking other players cards.
Now trades where I get something worth £80 for a tin secret rare is fine. Winning a players cards isn't.

I have done my fair share of ante matchs when I first started the game, I was a teen no money therefor not so many cards. I got my first heavy storm this way, which i still own to this day. However now I don't do Ante matches, I see a variety of different players at events challanging the younger players to these matches and I stand behind them clearing my throat. The black and white Panda shirt seems to do the trick

cool thing is i got a free call of the hsunted from him back in the day when it was still new
pity helped

Anata wa watashi ga zutto mae ni "sayounara" to yutta hito wo omoidasaseru. Anyone who would actually play in one of these matches is an idiot. Why would you risk losing your best card(s) for some card that may be worthless to you.
You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago.

Ante duels aren't my cup of tea......but gaining an unfair advantage against unknowledgeable children in trades, brings me great joy and satisfaction..... ^_^

~I love to play ante duels as long as I don't have to ante a card from my deck. If it's one of my spares, I'm more than willing.~

Depends.
I've never done it before and I'd never do it for anything important.
Being fairly sure I'd win would be important too.

I love Ante duels, I would have never came into possession of Mirror Force if not for them. It's one of the best feeling's in the world when you win, even better when your opponent wants a rematch and losses more rare cards trying to win back the other cards I won. I don't cheat, but I only accept or challenge people to an ante duel after knowing I can beat them.

Jevan R. H. Divinitive Like Yugi I treasure my cards to much to risk losing them. Also I don't like taking other players cards. Now trades where I get something worth £80 for a tin secret rare is fine. Winning a players cards isn't. in a kinda technical sense that's not true, cause in kaiba's tournament everyone who entered had to give up their rarest card if they lost. you'd probably be more accurate in saying something more like "like yugi i treasure my cards too much to duel for takes unless i had a VERY high chance of winning"

The only reason Yugi entered with that rule was to save the world from Marik.

Watch the japanese episodes,
the only reason Yugi entered was to recover the pharoh's memories.
And the only reason Joey entered was to prove himself as a duelist. There wasn't ay of this "saving the wrold" bullshit that the english shot into it.

You remind me of someone I said goodbye to a long time ago. Regardless Yugi still entered the tournament for that reason only. And it also should be noted that he never really cared for the Ante rule or taking other player's cards, except Osiris and Red Eyes for the Pharoah's memories and to stand up for Jounouchi I think. He never bothered taking Bakura's card, Arkana, or those weird mask duelists' rarest card. It seems he holds some respect for them and decided to let them keep their cards because he didn't hesitate to take the two cards mentioned.

Well accually Little Yugi said that he wouldn't want to lose any of his cards but it would be cool because the winner of the tournament would have a deck full of rare cards, also I believe he did take cards from arcana and Bakura, because after words yugi did use the trap card "Dark Renewal", the same trap arcana used when they dueled also when yugi duels Kaiba in the semi-final round in the battle city tournament kaiba plays a card that lets him and yugi both take a spell card from their deck, and yugi all of a sudden has "Change of Heart" Which makes me think he might have gotten it from Bakura, But thats just my opinion sweatdrop as for his duel with Lumis and Umbra I know Kaiba had that masked beast des gardius but I don't know what yugi might have got for it
