Why You Should Have Been At Summerstar
Summerstar has been mentioned in the guild before.
It is a relatively small festival (about 200 people) that takes place in Washington.
The festival is sponsored by The Primitive Festival Alliance (formally The Primitive Celtic Church). General festivities include drumming and dancing around the fire, workshops and a family friendly environment with several rituals.
The standard Rituals include the following:
The Opening Ritual-
Alters to the Elements which combine Hindu and Classical elemental systems are sanctified through a procession around the site. It concludes by the opening of the drum circle and the lighting of the fire.
The Gnostic Mass-
Performed by the leader of the Vortex Camp of the OTO, this is an official Mass which includes communion and all the mysteries wrapped in symbolism of the OTO initiation.
The Skyclad Ritual-
Performed by a long time participant, this ritual is done in honor of the shifting seasons.
The Main Ritual-
The main ritual changes every year. The different themes are usually Eclectic in nature to allow for individuals of numerous different traditions to all participate in a shared sense of community and spiritual truth.
The Closing Ritual-
The closing ritual is dedicated to the Discordian deity, Bill the Cat. After a long weekend of camping and ritual, this is the perfect way to end the rites and close down the site. It includes a communion of beer and gold fish, and features the sacred hymns.
