It's like a drink with tapioca in it.
The drink can be teas (milk tea, green tea, etcs) or a fruit juice, slushie kinda thing (strawberry, mango, lychee, etcs.)
Sometimes it's called boba tea instead.

Not tapioca pudding.
Tapioca, you know the little chewy spheres of whatever they're made of?
& yeah, you can. The tea is usually cold & chilled.
Great beverage to drink in the summer. :3

Bubbletea started in Taiwan, not Japan... but indeed, it is awesome smile Everytime I head out to the city, it's generally on the menu ^^

I'm not as into Japanese food as I used to be, but there's this one place that does karaage chicken really well... I also like okonomiyaki but there don't seem to be any places that do it here. My Japanese teacher used to cook it for us though, eee.

I suppose you could make it, but I'm better off buying it, I think - if you know how to make tea, you're probably already one step in. And I've seen cocktail shakers being involved, so maybe that comes into it... but otherwise, I'm ignorant of how to go about making it.
Oh, and you can buy the tapioca pearls and cook them, I guess - and at bbt stores, they generally soak them in sugar water/syrup in order to keep them from sticking and also to sweeten them to some extent. But yeah - that's all I know haha, if that can be called knowledge.

@FB; Image of bubble tea here: x
& Google it if you really wanna know.
But yesh is on the right track. I've seen them use those metal cocktail shakers. Sometimes they shake it by hand & other times, they place it into a shaking machine.
Also, most of the time, they have the tapioca already in the cup & after shaking the liquid, they just pour it into the cup & lid it.
@yesh, never knew that they were from Taiwan, wow. I just knew they're Asian. & what is okonomiyaki? o.o;;
