Below follows the chapters of my fiction. Feel free to post comment or questions but Constructive comment are the only ones I listen to. So be nice lol. THe few battle sequences are a bit sylized....I need to fix that so don't bother commenting on that because i know.

Chapter I: Danger Zone

The planet Yaris, located in the Segmentum Obscurus far away from even the outskirts of the Eye of Terror. It is a desert world with a valuable Imperial research station located on its equator. The research station was there to monitor and graph any growth or behavior of the Eye of Terror. Its is manned by a small detachment of Imperial Guard who’s astropaths communicate the information back to Mars in the Segmentum Solar twice everyday.
“Sir!” a uniformed guardsman yelled as he approached the Commissar of a small out post that manages Astropath traffic. In a way the station was a jumping point from Segmentum to Segmentum. The guardsman popped of a salute before continuing.
“Sir, the report from Yaris is 20 minutes late.” The Commissar was busy lounging in his command deck chair that over saw the small floor of communications men that took in the messages and passed them along to Mars. Upon hearing that the report was late he leapt from his seat.
“What was that trooper?” He said as if he needed to hear it again the truly believe it.
“Yaris, Sir. Their report is 20 minutes late.” The Commissar of the unit stood there for a moment before slumping down into his chair once more.
“Emperor save me.” He said as he waved the Guardsmen away. He spun his chair around to face his flickering console. Picking up a headset he removed his cap and placed it onto the console before putting the headset over his head to report the lack of communication from the Yaris post to his higher-ups.

It was 9th Company of the Space Marines chapter The Crimson Symphony that guarded the outpost and the 9180th Cadian Communications that does the research and information relay. So appropriately, the 3rd Company of the chapter was chosen to go and investigate the lack of transmission. The transmissions began again 12 hours later at a suspicious time according to the Segmentum Astropath Transfer Station. Company Captain Dean stood on his bridge helmet off pacing the deck pondering the strange occurrences. Dean was a Space Marine his armor was Red and Gold, which are the chapter’s colors.
Company Captain Dean was the leader of 3rd Company. His armor had been modified to his pleasing by the Companies Techmarine. His right arm had been fed extra power because for combat he enjoyed the use of an auto-cannon. He also had an ornate almost built from scratch jump pack over his power pack decorated with a small set of gold wings.
The deck he paced was small. With two stair cases that led down to the cabin where the navigation and communications took place. Turning as he heard a set of heavy feet come up the stairs behind him he grabbed his Crozius Arcanum and walked with that over to the stairs. The Marine surfaced onto the deck and looked at Dean.
“Captain Dean.” He said putting his right fist to his chest and bowing. This was a Chapter greeting a special kind of salute used by The Crimson Symphony.
“Brother Eloy.” The Captain said returning the salute then stepping aside to allow the Marine onto his deck. Eloy stepped lightly and after taking a few steps he turned and looked at the Captain.
“Sir, the Inquisition has reason to believe that 9th Company was lost to the Warp.” The Captain listened to his words and sighed. He replaced his Crozius onto its stand and looked at Eloy.
“Brother, that may be the case. Emperor save them.” There was a moment of silence at the thought of having to wage war on the own brothers. Then the silence was interrupted by Eloy.
“Inquisitor Charon and his retinue have requested the right to dock.” The Captain’s head snapped towards Eloy. The Captain’s brow furrowed as he looked at Eloy, just about everyone in the company had seen the Captain mad and before he ever said anything his brow would furrow. Giving one heavy sigh Dean nodded and said.
“Very well, we have nothing to hide…allow them to dock.” Dean watched Eloy walk away, inside his mind he had always feared this and now it was here. Picking up his helmet off of the stand his kept it on; he placed it over his head and picked up his Crozius as a sign of his authority. Giving one more heavy breath he started down the stairs towards the dock. He pondered this Inquisitor for a moment. The name almost rang a bell, but before he could get his thumb on it he had to answer a call to his right from down a hall.
“Captain.” He called as he walked down the hall it was Techmarine Korvin, the leader of the Mechanized Unit for the Company. Korvin was an interesting soldier, trained by the Adeptus Mechanus. He always struck Dean as a spider with all of his servo-arms and MIUs to make them move, a MIU is a Mind Impulse Unit it allows for weapons and tools on his arms to be moved and fired just by him thinking about it. Strangest of all was Korvin bore the Rite of Pure Thought, it was a mental augmentation that allowed him to feel no emotion or think illogically, making him a very interesting talking partner. Doing the Chapter salute, which Dean promptly returned, Korvin stated. “I hear the Inquisition is coming aboard.” Dean nodded.
“They should be coming into the docking bay about now; I need to be there to meet them.” He said as he began to walk down the hallway. The dock is where Korvin spent most of his time. He fixed the ships and modified them to his liking. Korvin silently followed behind the Captain until they emerged onto the docking bay floor where Korvin walked over to his servitors who were working on an Imperial Fighter.
Captain Dean watched as the Imperial ship neared the bay. He sighed and took a few more steps forward. The Inquisitor’s ship was a bright red, brighter than Dean and Korvin’s armor. There was a giant Inquisition ‘I’ on the front. The ship came in and landed softly on the deck. Below the ‘I’ a boarding ramped lowered and Captain Dean stepped towards it. The boots of the Inquisitor clinked on the ramp. Watching the ramp Captain Dean was expecting to see a taller version of an Imperial Guard Commissar with a set of better weapons. Taking a half step back in surprise Captain Dean looked upon what seemed to be a Grey Knight walking down the ramp. The Inquisitor had grey power armor and over his left arm was an ornate power fist and in his right hand was a staff with a small power blade near the top. His shoulder pads were ornately decorated with Inquisition ‘I’s in red and copper colors. Behind the strange Inquisitor was a darkly robed group of figures. ‘Most likely his retinue’ Dean thought.
“Captain Dean of The Crimson Symphony 3rd Company.” The Inquisitor boomed looking right at Captain Dean. “Your ship and company is now officially under investigation by the Inquisition.” Dean gave the official Astartes salute and looked at the Inquisitor.
“I understand Inquisitor,” Captain Dean said still looking at the Inquisitor. “I think you shall find everything is up to the Emperors standards.” The Inquisitor looked the Captain over once and said.
“I will need a place on the ship to conduct my investigation from.” Dean nodded and he figured that the deck above the bridge he had just been pacing on would be fitting. Korvin sat next to a Rhino tank he was working on and observed the scene. He pondered the Inquisitors armor. His trained eye could tell that the shoulder blades were replacements but the other equipment was Grey Knight standard. ‘Strange indeed.’ He thought.
“Yes, I believe I have a suitable place for you.” Dean said. The Inquisitor had finally made it all the way down the ramp and was standing eye level with Dean. The two locked glares for a moment before the Inquisitor broke the silence and said.
“I’m sure it will be suitable, take us there.” He said as the dark robed figures piled in behind him. Dean nodded and turned around. Swinging his Crozius over his shoulder he started to walk off back the way he came.
“I’m sorry Captain what is that you are holding?” The Inquisitor questioned without moving. Captain Dean turned around and looked at the Inquisitor with contempt. He swung the mighty power mace off of his shoulder into both of his hands again.
“It’s a Crozius, once wielded by our company Chaplin and upon his death it was entrusted to me,” said Dean as he recalled in his mind the horrid situation surrounding the Chaplin’s death. The Inquisitor looked the Crozius over and began to walk. Behind the Inquisitor his Calculus Logi began clicking away typing words onto a piece of paper. Dean tried to ignore it, but he knew it was beginning to record things. Calculus Logi were mechanical servitors that acted as an Inquisitor’s scribe and when it was typing you know something was wrong.
Korvin watched the group walk by and came to the conclusion that the Inquisitor now aboard the ship had to be from the Ordo Malleus to be wearing such armor, but how he became an Inquisitor was still a mystery to Korvin. Captain Dean and the Inquisitor walked though the hall onto the bridge where the ship was being steered and navigated from. The Calculus Logi still tapping away. Dean walked though the bridge drawing a few short stares from the surrounding Marines. He led the Inquisitor up the stairs to the deck and turned around.
“Do you find this location to be of your liking?” Dean questioned as he watched the group disperse along the deck. The Inquisitor seemingly glanced around and gave the Captain a slight nod.
“This will do Captain, thank you.” Dean took this as a polite way for the Inquisitor to dismiss him. The Captain gave the Inquisitor a final salute and walked off the deck down into the ships bridge area walking over to Lieutenant Janus who was manning the ships wheel as he removed his helmet. Janus was a good soldier he was 3rd Companies second in command, as well as a master power swordsman with a keen eye for flare and decoration. His power pack was outfitted with a lavish and compact set of golden wings so his men always knew where he was.
“How close are we to Yaris?’ The Captain asked. Making a quick adjustment to the ships wheel Janus answered. “We’re about an hour and a half out, Captain.” He said as he kept his eyes forward. The Captain nodded, “Thank you Lieutenant.” He walked away swinging his Crozius over his shoulder proudly. He wasn’t going to let this Inquisitor out of his sight. Captain Dean was a loyal servant of the Emperor, but believed such measures like the Inquisition were unnecessary and brutal. If he had to he would slaughter the lot of them and push their ship out into Chaos space once they got close enough to the Eye of Terror.
Banishing the tempting though from his mind he paced around the bridge slowly watching the time tick away, meanwhile in the deck above the Inquisitor and his retinue began to set up shop. Inquisitor Charon’s servitors ran back and forth to the Inquisition ship getting supplies and materials that slowly became a questioning station above. Captain Dean watched the progression until the servitors set up a wall around his deck, thus turning ‘his deck’ into the Inquisitors office. Dean looked at the clock. An hour had passed…there was about 30 minutes until they were planet side. Dean pondered what was getting set up behind the wall on his deck.
Then almost if on cue out stepped Inquisitor Charon. He was no longer wielding his staff, but had kept his power fist on. Behind him floated a servo-skull. Dean figured it might have come in one of the large boxes brought in by the servitors. Then behind him came the now silent Calculus Logi. Dean gulped as he placed his helmet onto his head again and twisted it slightly left then back right again sealing it in place.
The Captain walked at the Inquisitor and spoke. “Is there any place aboard I can bring you Inquisitor?” Dean Inquired as the Calculus Logi began making noise once more.
“Yes, could you please escort me to the barracks of your Battle Brethren?” Charon said looking at the Crozius in disgust. Dean gave a nod and started walking off towards the right entrance to the bridge. The Inquisitor and his two assistants followed, the Calculus Logi finishing its noise making as Dean led them though the halls and took another right turn to a big set of double doors. Pushing them open he revealed a large room. Larger than the bridge, it was basically bare aside from the cabinets lining the walls where the Brethren kept their weapons. The troops were going about their pre-drop preparations like cleaning their weapons, calibrating scopes, or taking a few practice swings with a chainsword.
“3rd Company Infantry Brethren, Fall In!” Captain Dean yelled. The 80 men in the hall fell into an 8 deep 10 across formation. The entire company was 99 men big. The other men were the communications and command units. The missing man was the company's Chaplin who perished in combat with the Tau less than three years earlier. The Inquisitor stepped forward at the two men standing in the center of the front line. Both were robed from head to toe. The one on the left had a powerfiist on his left hand, in his right he held a power sword at a ceremonial attention on his shoulder.
The other had two chain swords, ornate shoulder pads, and a fancy helmet. The Inquisitor stepped towards the two and said.
“Lieutenants! are these your men?” The Inquisitor asked. The two stepped forward and called back in unison.
“Yes, Lord Inquisitor” they responded. The Calculus Logi began tapping away once more as the Inquisitor's metal boots clinked as he stepped towards the two Infantry Lieutenants. Captain Dean flipped his Crozius over and leaned on the head as he watched the inspection commence. Behind him he heard another set of boots coming behind him. Glancing behind him Dean noticed that Korvin was walking towards him. The Inquisitor noticed the noise too and turned around. Once the Inquisitor had turned all the way around the Calculus Logi turned around still clicking away. Korvin moved in behind the Capitan and the Inquisitor strode quickly towards them.
“Tehcmarine explain to me what that is over you right shoulder.” Inquisitor Charon questioned. Korvin stepped out from behind Dean and over his right shoulder flipped a heavy auto-cannon. The auto-cannon was a round Gatling style weapon.
“An auto-cannon, Lord Inquisitor.” Kovin responded.
“Ah I see.” The Inquisitor said as the Logi continued to click away. “Now tell me Techmarine is that Adeptus Mechanus standard.” Kovin shook his head and then responded.
“No sir, I rigged this myself.” The Inquisitor nodded several times and went over to the Calculus Logi and lifted the sheet of paper with his right hand and nodded again. Turning back to the Infantry, the Inquisitor began to speak, but he was quickly interrupted by a ship-wide speaker system. Over the speaker Brother Eloy's voice could be heard.
“We will be ready to go planet side in ten minutes, please prepare accordingly.” Dean smirked under his helmet and walked up to the Inquisitor and spoke.
“Lord Inquisitor...if you could excuse my men so they can prepare to go into battle.” Dean and the Inquisitor met eyes for a moment and then the Inquisitor responded.
“Very well, I will be descending to the planet with you.” Dean nodded as the Inquisitor and the Calculus Logi swept past Dean and Korvin down the hall.
Dean wasn't happy about the Inquisitor going down with them, but they at least had a break from his investigation. Dean watched the infantry breakout and continue what they were doing before the Inquisitor entered. They would be going to the drop pods in less than five minutes.
Dean didn't know how long the Inquisitor would be with them, but the more time they had away from him the better. Dean saluted Korivn and about faced down the hallway. He had to get ready himself.
Dean, after walking though several hallways, emerged onto the bridge. He looked at the crew who was packing up their communications gear to take planet side. Dean walked over to Janus and gave a quick Astartes salute.
“Lieutenant, when we go down leave the ship in geo-synchronous orbit above our drop zone.” Janus nodded as he leaned over to a panel and struck a few colored keys.
“Yes sir, It shall be done.” he responded throwing his right hand to his chest in salute. Dean returned the salute and then walked away towards the command’s gearing room. The room as in thee hall way between the bridge and the hanger area, he watched the two doors slide open and then he stepped though and leaned his Crozius against the door frame inside the room. He lifted his head from that and noticed he wasn't alone.
“Hermes, how long have you been in here.” Dean asked stepping towards his equipment room.
“Since the Inquisition arrived Captain. The other Apothecaries went to their quarters as well. We want as little to do with this as possible.” Hermes responded. Dean inputted the code to the panel next to his door and it slid open.
“I wish I could join you Brother.” Dean grumbled as he stepped into his equipment room. On the wall to his left was mounted his auto-cannon. Dean slipped his right arm down into the auto-cannon once he had it situated comfortably he pulled it away from the wall. Then with his left he reached over to the other wall and pulled off a banner. He walked out of the room with it, the door closing behind him.
Reaching up Dean placed the flag atop his power pack and turned towards Hermes once more.
“Emperor save us Hermes.” Dean said looking at the Apothecary who was working intently with his Nartceium, which was the medical tool mounted on his left arm that he used to perform his duties. Then the door slid open once more and in walked Janus. This told Dean that the ship was in orbit now and the drop would be occurring in minutes. Janus saluted the Captain.
“Sir, the Infantry just made the drop and the communications team is boarding now.” Janus said giving the report.
“The Inquisitor?” Dean asked as he moved to his Crozius on the door frame.
“Will be descending in his own craft behind us.”
“Very well.” Dean said lifting his Crozius to his shoulder in his typical fashion. That would give him precious time to talk to his men. Janus in the mean time had accessed his equipment room, pulling out two power swords putting them both on his belt.
Janus glanced around and then saluted them all and walked towards the door. Its two sides slid open and Janus walked out. The doors didn't shut, around the corner came the companies Librarian already carrying a hefty power-axe. He came in silently and saluted Captain Dean and strode into his already open equipment closet. He snagged a bolt pistol and strode right back out the door.
Maximilian was the Librarians name and he wore white and yellow armor, these were the colors of The Crimson Symphony's Librarian's armor. He spoke infrequently and only to select Brethren, the one he seemed to talk the most to was Brother Korvin. Dean speculated it was because of Korvin's Rite of Pure Thought. Never the less Maximilian was good at what he did. Librarians are sanctioned psykers who serve the Emperor and can do anything from float to make it rain blood.
Dean watched Hermes get to his feet and walk towards the door.
“Captain, I think it's time to go planet side.” Dean nodded in response matching Hermes stride towards the door. When the emerged on the other side Dean glanced over to the right and saw the Inquisitor come down the stairs from his makeshift office with his entire retinue of dark robed figures behind him. Dean then looked left to speak to Hermes but he was gone. Dean instead held his tongue and walked towards the drop pod to avoid crossing paths with the Inquisitor again. Emerging into the hanger Dean walked over to the right side wall.
There were long tubes running from ceiling to floor. Captain Dean watched Hermes step into the command squads drop pod on the farthest right tube. Dean strode quickly at the pod. Once he reached it he swung his leg over the little wall and sat in his seat. In the pod was the entire command squad, Dean, Janus, Hermes, Maximilian, and the empty seat where the companies Chaplin used to sit. The pods door slid closed and all that illuminated the darkness of the pod was a red emergency light. There was a slight rumble and the leaders of 3rd Company could feel the pod release and the shred of gravity they could feel pull them from the ship.
Inquisitor Charon stepped though the hallway into the bay and watched the last pod slip from its holder. Beneath his helmet his eyes tightened into a glare. He stared for a moment and then strode quickly towards his ship with his darkly robed retinue in his wake. They boarded the ship and moments later it left the craft leaving no one on board and the ship a derelict in orbit around the planet.

Two Years Earlier
Chapter II: A Mighty Gift

Dean walked the upper trench surveying the land between their trench and the trench of the Tau force. The operation had been largely successful so far with no casualties and few injuries. The trench below his was heavily populated with the company’s infantry. Lieutenant Janus could be seen pacing the trench with his golden wing ornaments floating above the heads of the rest.
The Tau force opposing Captain Dean was a large force made up mostly of Fire Warriors. There were very few fancy battle suits or transport craft; this could probably show why Dean was having such good luck with casualties and injuries. Dean shook himself back to reality as he heard a squishing coming from his right. He turned to see Chaplin Rozak walking at him his Crozius power-mace over his shoulder in his left hand. Passing by the trench sniper in his way he slammed his right fist on his armor and bowed. Dean returned the salute.
“Captain,” the Chaplin said. “The scouts warn of a dust storm approaching from the west.” Captain Dean looked at him intensely. The Crimson Symphonies trench was facing north.
“Chaplin, this means that the storm will cross no mans land. With the Tau’s sheer numbers they will use this to their advantage.’ Dean speculated as a gust of wind whipped at the flag above his head. He turned forward and yelled a command to his Company. “Brothers, a heavy storm approaches. Helmets on and eyes alert, we are expecting a charge.” Turning again to the Chaplin, Dean spoke “Thank you, Chaplin.”
The Chaplin saluted in return and walked up next to Dean.
“When do you think they will make their move.”
“As soon as the storm crosses no mans land.” Dean said as the wind thrashed around his flag. He looked to the left and saw the storm, a massive cloud of dust barreling in off the drought ridden farm lands.
Fathus VIII was an Imperial Agri-planet. Agri-planets are whole planets used dedicated to providing produce and grain to other planets in the Empire. The Crimson Symphony was sent to investigate a recent drought that had dropped the planets output to almost nothing. When they arrived they found that it was in fact a large contingent of Fire Warriors sabotaging the sewage systems that water the planet. There were several hit and run attacks by the Tau, but not serious wounds. Diving into a field run off bed they entrenched themselves, and the Brethren of 3rd company dug a two stage trench system just outside their range of fire.
Three weeks later, there they were a dust storm approaching and more likely then not an impending trench clearing charge. Dean watched as the storm hit the trench, he felt the pressure hit him and he braced himself to compensate. Then from his right he heard a voice that wasn’t the Chaplin’s it was the snipers.
“Sir, on my heat vision I’m seeing the Tau leave the trenches…Permission to fire?” He questioned.
“How many?” Dean questioned.
“Captain…the trenches are clearing.” The sniper responded.
“Open Fire!” Dean yelled. Almost one second later shots rang out the wind still whipping and his vision impaired by the dust Dean lifted himself over the top of the second trench and slid down to the lower trench where he landed with a crash, but on his feet none the less.
“Brothers! As you probably already know the Tau approach in a charge,” the deafening blare of sniper fire continued from above. “Their trenches are clear…we will meet them in combat.” Then behind him he felt a stomp. It was Chaplin Rozak he looked at Dean and nodded.
“I will be with you in this charge Captain.” Then there was a moment of silence and then a loud cry from the surrounding men initiated the counter charge. The men of the 3rd Company of The Crimson Symphony threw themselves over the top of the lower trench and blindly at the weapons of their Tau adversaries. Hearing another thud on his left he looked and saw the Chapters Librarian Maximillian standing there holding his Power-axe.
“Captain, I am ready for battle.” He said nodding to Dean. Dean threw his power sword out and ran at the side of the trench vaulting it and following his men. This was typical of Dean like many great commanders before him you only ask of you men what you are willing to do your self.
The three split each taking a respected side of the battlefield. Maximillian took left. Captain Dean took the center of the battle. Chaplin Rozak took the right. Hearing the sounds of the battle Captain Dean ran though the dust cloud and wind till he could see a set of red armor in front of him.
“Hold the line Brothers, May the Emperor smile upon us this day.” Dean said as he stepped forward a few more steps. He could see the blue glow of the Tau’s weapons streaking into the line. The flag behind his head flapped violently to the right as one of the men was knocked on his back. Atop of him stood a Kroot beast, Kroots were xenos with their avian ancestry giving them a bird-like beak and long quills protruding from their heads like hair. Smaller quills, possibly the evolutionary remnants of feathers, can be found scattered over their bodies. They were carnivorous and often times feasted on the flesh of their defeated foes.
Captain Dean lunged forward with his power sword and with direction of the wind cleaved the Kroot in two. It’s howling carcass flew behind the line innards trailing behind its body in a grotesque seeping mess.
“Get up Brother, for the fight continues.” Dean said. The brethren who had been knocked down, reached to his right and grabbed his chain sword and stood quickly to his feet.
“Yes Sir, Captain Dean.” The Brethren responded before charging headlong though the hole he had been knocked back though. Dean stepped into that space in the line to see what the enemy forces were like. Then Dean saw what he feared. The Tau force had been slightly reinforced there were three Tau Broadside Battlesuits that could be seen just though the sand. Dean watched as one of them fell to a kneel and the cannons on it’s shoulders fell straight.
Dean knew the Tau’s pitiful Pulse Rifles were no match for the heavily armored Space Marines power armor, aside from the weak points in the neck and other joints. Captain Dean knew that with the shear size of the weapons on those Battlesuits their fire would tear his Brothers to shreds.
Captain Dean made a decision and charged forward squeezing his auto-cannons trigger and holding it. A heavy rattle began to emit from the weapons muzzle. The heavy rounds ripped though the Kroots and Fire Warriors causing them to seemingly explode in puffs or red mist. Inside the Captain’s display the ammunition counter for his auto-cannon ticked away. Dean continued to charge forward opening a corridor in the Tau force. The Battlesuit pilots who were flanking the charging Battlesuit began to take notice of Deans charge. Dean pressed on though the gore created by his auto cannon. The ammunition ticker finally reached zero and he released the hand grip and flicked the auto cannon backwards and it landed with a deafening crash as Dean threw his power sword over to his right hand.
The center Broadside’s cannons were covered in blue electrical charges, almost ready to fire into the crowd of Space Marines struggling with the Tau line. The flanking Battlesuits fired their rocket pods towards Dean in an attempt to halt his charge. Dean leapt into the air now only about thirty feet away. The shots struck the ground under him and the shockwave sent him into an uncontrolled frontward flip. Captain Dean splashed into the mud and quickly scrambled to his feet close enough to strike the suit.
Before he could make a move to attack he felt a heavy weight fall onto his shoulders pushing him back into the mud. Fearing it was a Kroot mob he quickly spun around the ominous whirring of the charging laser behind him. There was nothing there. Double taking back to the Battlesuits attempting to keep his balance from the ferocious wind. He could see a red armored figure, with small gold wings exiting a front flip and extending two power swords outwards giving the figure the appearance of a cross for a moment.
The figure was Lieutenant Janus. He brought his swords into striking position and once gravity had brought him close enough to the Battlesuits head he thrust his weapons into the head of the suit. The head of the suit erupted into a ball of arcing electricity. Falling and landing in front the suit Janus quickly leapt backwards to a standing position next to the Captain sliding slightly to a stop. The other Battlesuits heads still turned towards their flaming ally. The blue current from the destroyed suit extended to larger and larger arcs. Janus grabbed Dean as he tried to run towards the other suit which were slowly trying to step away from the crashed suit.
“Captain it’s going to explode….” Then all Dean could sense was a loud whir and a huge blast and being heaved to the ground. His vision fell grey.

Several Hours Later…
Dean blinked his eyes open to see nothing but the clear blue sky. He put his left arm back and pushed himself up so he was sitting. His helmet was removed but sitting on the table beside where he lay. He auto cannon was also propped up against the side of what seemed to be a trench. Bending his knees and slowing coming to a stand he heard a somewhat familiar sound. It was a rhythmic whir and hiss. That was the sound of an Imperial Dreadnought, Dean knew for a fact there were none of those in his Company. Standing up straight now Dean glanced around. There were double the amount of troops that there had been at battle’s start yet they all looked alike. Dean picked up his helmet and placed it on his head, but left the power sword and auto-cannon there to lie.
Dean looked to his left to his right and realized he had woken up where they where laying the injured. He felt fine, but still had a slight buzz in his ears. He was in the top trench he looked down onto the field where the battle had been taking place. There were corpses of both sides strewn across the battlefield.
“Captain, Captain. I see you are awake.” Yelled a voice to his left, Dean snapped his head to the left and saw that the voice belonged to the lead apothecary Hermes.
“Indeed, Hermes.” Dean responded as Hermes came to the side of him and Captain Dean looked at Hermes though his helmet and seriously asked. “How many casualties did we sustain Brother?”
“None, as of yet, though we have many in a critical condition,” Hermes tone lowered. “Which is why I was coming to see you Captain.” He said more solemn still.
“What is it Brother,” Dean said looking out over the field trying to figure out why there were so many deceased brethren out in the field if they suffered no casualties thus far.
“Chaplin Rozak is in critical condition, he is bleeding beyond what I or any bionic or implant can save…he’s asked to speak to you.” Dean quickly snapped his helmeted head towards Hermes.
“What…” Dean said almost at a loss for what to say. “Well take me to him quick.” Dean said waiting for Hermes to begin to move. Hermes nodded and began to speed walk towards the upper trenches command base. It was a simple small room where all the leaders of the company could sit down and discuss strategy and be safe from the hail of fire coming from opposing forces, turning into the door Dean looked upon Rozak his helmet off as well as his legs missing and his left arm both where lightly seeping blood.
“What happened to you Chaplin Roazk!?” Dean asked pushing himself by Hermes to the upper torso that was the companies Chaplin.
“Hit…by a…Battlesuit.” He forced out blinking furiously as if to keep himself alive. “Listen…Captain I…I have…t-to…give you…something.” Dean quickly shook his helmeted head .
“Rozak you have no debt to me. I have one to you for being so weak as to fall unconscious during a battle....” The Chaplin raised his right arm, his only remain appendage aside from his head and silenced him.
“The…fate I …have…suffered…was… by my…own doing. Now…lend me…your…ears.” Dean nodded and the promptly twisted his helmet off of his neck and placed it beside him looking at the dieing Chaplin. “A…voice told…m-me that…there was…a great…feat…you will…under…undertake.” The Chaplin strained to get his words from his mouth.
“I…was…instructed…by this...voice…to…on…on…my…death…entrust…this to…you.” He said reaching his right hand slowly down to the Crozius power weapon at his side. Upon touching it his hand went still.
“No…Chaplin I can’t accept this.” Dean said expecting a slow response his glance up to see the Chaplains head had fallen to the side and blood was pouring from his mouth onto the ground. Dean heard Hermes step forward and kneel down next to him.
“Dean, he entrusted that weapon to you for a reason.” Hermes said. “Could I ask you to excuse me as I remove the Progenoids and perform final rites.” Dean lifted his helmet off of the floor and tucked it under his arm He gave the dead face of the Chaplin one last glance and grabbed the Crozius with his right hand and walked out of the room into the trench once again into the blue sky and sunshine. Surveying the battlefield once more Dean turned to place the Crozius with his other weapons but heard a voice behind him.
“Well, well, well. Look who it is here.” Dead spun around to face another Space Marine donning Crimson Symphony colors. He was different then the men of Third Company though. He wore no helmet and his long brown hair fell low enough to touch the Imperial Eagle he wore on the chest of his power armor. His face was still slightly spattered with red blood. He smiled a toothy smile and revealed his canines as longer than normal humans.
The man carries a chainsword in his right hand and scoped bolter in his left strapped across his back was a very complex looking sniper rifle. This was Captain Cornelius of The Crimson Symphonies 4th Company. The 4th company was far different from the 3rd they didn’t hold much respect for decoration or other sorts of ritual. Let their hair grow long and killed like animals. Captain Dean didn’t like this about them.
“Captain.” Dean responded throwing his right fist against his chest and bowing even though it still held the Crozius.
“Please Captain…there’s no need.” Cornelius said not even polite enough to return the salute. “I would like to commend you on how well your troops fought under my command.” Dean froze at these words it was ad enough that the 4th Company was here, but the fact that their Captain took command of his Company disgusted him to the highest degree.
“Thank you Captain, I’ll be sure to relay you message.” Dean said almost though gritted teeth. Dean turned and walked away without a salute. He would find out later what had happened, fortunately there was only one 3rd company casualty thus far and though it was the Chaplin…one casualty was not bad at all.
Dean activated his personal Voxx caster on his power armor and radioed to Korvin.
“Korvin, call the landing craft. We’re leaving.”

I haven't read all of it yet, but in your first bit, there are some minor fluff innaccuracies. A research outpost would not and could not be expected to report back to Mars on a twice-daily basis. Not only do fluctuations in the warp and the limited ability of human psykers prevent that, but I'm pretty sure reports from a distant outpost, no matter how important, would merit that much attention from the adepts of Mars.

The writing's good, a little short and choppy with the sentences though; stylisticly, I prefer longer, flowing sentences.

If you're going to do much writing in the 40k universe and in general, it's a good idea to read up some on the fluff so you know what you're writing about. 3nodding

Okay cool I've got another one I'm working on that I've tried to make flow a bit more I'll get up to posting that one sometime soon.

Yeah I sorta threw this together using Lexicanum for refrence and just sorta going with it. As for my other one It's way better in my opinion. But not quite to a posting point I'll get it up here in a bit.

Thanks for the feed back though 3nodding

Meh other one is about the Imperial assassins This was sorta a test, but yeah I gotta get my other one up in here. ninja
