Seriously, nothing wrong with slashing the arts. Us slashers slash everything else in this world.

Anyway: I was watching Les Miserables this morning, the 10th Anniversary one, where they're all on stage, and features Michael Ball as Marius. So yeah, I started thinking what about pairing Marius with Enjorlas or however you spell his name? It's done before. Then you got Val Jean and Javert. True, their very old men but hey old men need their love too. I'm sure there would be a domination problem there though. LOL! Then you could always have fun with the radom ABC Students.

I don't know how sad I am but I started to pair the Scarecrow and the Tin Man together when I first started watching The Wizard of OZ. I scared my friends with that one.

RENT is another but that one anything goes doesn't it?

Eww @ Valjean/Javert. xd Not because they're old, but just ewww. Enjolras/Grantaire ftw.

Grantaire...? Gah, I'm such a bad Mesie fan right now. Isn't he the one that sings "I am agawg, I am agast. Is Marius in love at last?"

Oh, gosh, Grantaire -- when I saw Les Miserables on Broadway, Grantaire could not have been any flirtier with any of the guys. There were all sorts of ridiculously gay things he did, gestures he made.
I liked him, of course.

RENT!
Nobody in the world makes me happier than Angel and Collins. Nobody.
I fingered through Anthony Rapp's autobiography at Border's and it appears he actually is homosexual. I hadn't known that.
I felt sad for Mark, not getting any love. ):

Also, as a last note, I will confess to myself being an avid CATS slasher in earlier times :B

smileontheedge: Yep. Don't worry, I'm not a hardcore Les Mis fan or anything, I just read through the lyrics booklet a few times. xd I tried to read the book once, but only got the page 51 then gave up.

Tomqueen: OMG. My Grantaire was, too. XD Well, the second one was at least, not sure about the first because at that point I didn't know which one Grantaire was..

RENT is the sort of musical I can't deal with. Or at least, the movie is, but I assume the play is generally the same deal. Ones where people sing forcefully AT each other, and the music scenes themselves serve to advance the plot rather than clarify characters' thoughts or motivations. (also see: West Side Story)

Oh there've been murmurs of Mark and Roger's supposedly platonic relationship since forever ^^

There's so many slash possibilities in musicals I won't hurt my head trying to name them all.
As for a female slash pairing, the most popular is probably in Wicked. Elphaba and Glinda all the way!

One of my RPS slash favorites came from the original London Avenue Q -- Simon Lipkin and Jon Robyns KILL ME. Forever.
But yeah, related, Nicky/Rod is crazy puppet love I will never not adore.

On the topic of RENT, I am definitely a big lover of Angel/Collins. And Roger/Mark. And for the record, Jo/Mo is HILARITY =)

I'm dying to see Wicked; I've listened to the soundtrack so often that I can sing the songs off the top of my head, but I've never seen the show. I'm bummed that I'll never see the originals, though.

I saw these awesome clips from German musicals on Youtube the other day. They. Were. SLASHY. It was so awesome. In one ("Die Schatten Werden Lager" from Elisabeth), Death seduced this prince... and they were so close to kissing when the Prince pulled away, not wanting to give in to Death's charms. heart Death had a great voice too.... The other clip I saw also had the guy who was playing Death in Elisabeth in it, but this time he played a capricious vampire. I won't say anything else about it because it's so awesome and must be seen. The song it was "Wenn Liebe in dir ist" from Tanz der Vampire. I looked up both musicals, and, although Tanz der Vampire was brought to America, it was heavily changed and became one of the biggest flops in Broadway history. Which is a pity, considering how hilarious it seems.
Lestat has some pretty slashy moments, too: in one song he's debating on whether to "take" his best friend (he means turn him into a vampire, though).

I too was upset that Mark from RENT got no love at all. I heart Anthony Rapp though. He's full of awesomeness! I don't care if he's homosexual and I'm a straight girl! How come all the cuties are broadway babes that usually end up being homosexual? The world is so unfair!

@ Skizzors -- I had to take a long time figuring out which one Grantaire was through the program. I hadn't seen Les Mis before, so I didn't know who sang which parts of all the students. I sat close to the front, so I tried to match names to faces in the playbill. sweatdrop My Grantaire had long brown hair and played guitar ...

I never thought about RENT that way, probably because singing to eachother never bothered me.
But that does remind me of when, in the deleted scenes of the DVD, in commentary Anthony mentioned that when they worked with Jonathan Larson, they debated on whether or not to sing or speak Mark and Roger's big argument. and they decided to sing, because they had never sung directly to eachother at any other point in the show, apparently.
I liked it cool [/end off-topic ramble, sorry!]

@ Sempiternal-Serpent -- Those sound lovely ... on Youtube? : D How convenient!

I think we may have seen the same one..? Was it sort of recently, like within the past year? o3o

I've seen it twice, and I'm pretty sure the Grantaires switched. I know a lot of characters did.. including Valjean, and DUDE the second one showed off how high he could sing SO frequently, he actually ruined the entire part. confused

I saw it ... April of '07. c: That would be neat, if we did.

gag D8 Valjean doesn't need to be THAT falsetto now does he?
I had Norm Lewis for Javert and LOVED HIM TO DEATH.

Edit: I'm listening to "Die Schatten Werden Langer" right now ... and I think I may be in love. eek

Edit 2: Drew Sarich! That was my Grantaire ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnID4ksSyd0

I never thought of too much musical slash, and I don't know why... I love musicals.

But Angel/Collins, Mark/Roger, and Nicky/Rod are definite win.

Scarecrow/Tin Man? Don't know it would actually work, but I'm all for it. cool

I think Nathan/Sky (from Guys and Dolls) would be interesting, despite their overloading heterosexuality in the musical. Hmm, maybe Sky is why Nathan has been putting off marrying Adelaide for fourteen years! XD *shot'd*
