Tuesday, May 20, 2008, was the best night ever! No, seriously. Even the Mr. Brendon Urie himself agrees.

Ryan Ross 5-20-08, Right Before The Last Song
When we were backstage before the encore, Brendon told me that this was his favorite show he ever played. Ever. And Brendon doesn't lie. whee

Brendon: -cute embaressed face- redface heart

My dad picked me up early from school at 11:00 so that we'd have plenty of time to make our way all the way to Detroit and still have time to wait a couple hours in line so that we have a good spot in the venue (we had floor tickets). When we got to Detroit it was about 3:15 (we got lost in the ghetto for about fifteen minutes; it was scary gonk ). I drove all the way there in my car. 4laugh I was proud, haha. We parked in the Tigers Stadium parking lot because it's right across from the Fillmore. Well, not just because of that. Because PANIC AT THE DISCO'S TOUR BUS WAS ALSO PARKED IN THAT PARKING LOT! biggrin heart

It was so cool! And it's so big! It's way bigger than I thought it was. It's so pretty, no? 4laugh Panic At The Disco lives in there!! biggrin

Waiting in line wasn't bad. My dad and I were surrounded by people my age, and there were a few people that were my dad's age, so he had people to talk to, too. Some of the girls behind me knew absolutley nothing about Panic At The Disco so it was sort of hard to start a conversation with them, but, eh, they were cool I guess. xd There dad was really weird though. eek He was creeping my dad out.

All of the other bands tour busses were lined up along the line of fans (the busses on the road, the fans on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the road) After about two hours of being in line, all the sudden I heard a ton of girls screaming about twenty or thirty feet down the line. It was screams of excitement and thrill, so I knew it had to be something…or someone important. I sprinted as fast as I could to where all the girls were screaming. I looked towards what they were all gazing at, and I saw Ryan’s right shoulder, his right hip, his right leg, and right foot peeking out from behind one of the tour busses. I tried to get a picture, but it was too late. He stepped onto the bus. The windows on the bus were all tinted and the shades were closed, so we couldn’t see into it. It was probably one of the most frustrating things in my entire life. Knowing that Ryan Ross was on a bus that’s within fifteen feet from me. All of us fans waited and waited for Ryan to walk off the bus, just so we could see him again. All the sudden the line started moving, so I said a couple curse words and hopped back in line with my dad because I didn’t want to loose my spot. About ten minutes later, I heard all of the girls screaming again, but I was too far away from the tour bus in line now that it wasn’t worth running over there for because he would have been gone by the time I got there. Luckily, I found a video of Ryan getting off the bus on youtube that one of the girls took that was stalking Ryan with me.

While I was waiting for Ryan to get off the bus, I started talking to this teenage guy next to me (he was also stalking Ryan) who got there really early in the morning. He said that when he got there, he saw Brendon jumping up and down on the roof of the tour bus Ryan was inside. XD He yelled, “Brendon, can I get a picture with you?” but a security guard made him leave. I thought that was kind of funny…Brendon Urie jumping up and down on top of a tour bus. Hahaha. Panic At The Disco has become very comfortable around their fans. They aren’t afraid to just step outside into the real world, and I love that.

Also while waiting in line, I saw the red-haired guy from The Hush Sound walk in and out of the Fillmore and tour bus about a hundred times. He was helping carry equipment. He kept waving to all of us fans. <3 It's just as cool seeing band members off stage as it is on stage, if not cooler. 3nodding

(the tour bus left the parking lot where I parked and it parked in the line of the other tour busses, so that's me waiting in line with the Panic At The Disco tour bus behind me.)

Fueled By Ramen street team members were handing out free posters, stickers, and balloons. I got a couple Panic At The Disco stickers, a Paramore sticker, and a Paramore poster. I took just enough so that I could cram it all in my pockets. xD I also got the Honda Civic Tour Souvenir Booklet thingy.

When the line finally started moving so that we could go inside, we got up to the front of the venue and security divided boys and girls. While my dad and I were getting seperated, my dad walked past Zack and said "Hey Zack!!" and he high fived him! xD Then Zack saw me laughing and smiling really big so Zack walked up to me and was like, "Was that your dad?!" and I'm like, "Haha, yeah!" and then he gave me a high five too! heart Then I had to get my ticket scanned so I didn't have time to talk to him.

When my dad and I found each other again, we rushed to get a shirt. I got the green and black Honda Civic Tour one that says Panic At The Disco on the front and back, and it has all of the tour dates on the back. Right after we bought my shirt, we ran into the main part of the venue where the stage was to get a good spot. We found out that the Fillmore actually has two different levels of floor space. We asked a girl that was already on the upper level (it was only about a foot higher than the lower level) if anyone with general admission could stand there, and she said "Yeah, this is the best spot in the entire building! Come stand up here! No one pushes or anything up here." So, we took her word for it, and we soon found out that she was so incredibly right. It really was the best spot in the entire building! Throughout the whole concert, I could see everything, and I had plently of room. There was no moshing or pushing, and I was dead front and center of upper level, so I could look straight out about twenty-five feet, and the stage was right in front of me! It was so perfect.

(I think the picture makes us look further away than we actually were. I mean, I could see the sweat dripping off their faces. <3 It was awesome.)

We had to wait an hour for Phantom Planet to take the stage. Phantom Planet really impressed me. I didn't think they were going to be as good as they were! And in real life, the lead singer looks really similar to Brendon. He's pretty cute! 4laugh Their last song was the OC theme song, which was my favorite. They were so greatful to be there, and I loved that about them. They kept reminded us how awesome we were. Haha. None of the other members besides the lead singer really said anything, though.

The Hush Sound was alright. I think I was expecting something a little more out of them, though. They played all my favorite songs by them and a bunch of their new stuff. The best part was Brendon running out on stage and singing a part of one of their songs. 4laugh heart

(Brendon singing with The Hush Sound.)

When he came out, I literally started shaking. I was just so excited to see him! And, it was a good hold off until Panic At The Disco came out. He had so much energy! <3

Motion City Soundtrack was amazing! I only knew a couple songs, but they seriously lit up the stage! They are super-duper good live. Some girl threw her bra up on stage at Motion City Soundtrack. gonk The lead singer picked it up, held it up to his chest, and was like, "I think I need an A cup." It was pretty funny. xd

Okay guys.
Now here comes the good part. <3 PANIC AT THE DISCO!

(Warning: I include the setlist below. If you'd not like to know the setlist, then do not read any further.)

(Right when Panic At The Disco walked out on stage. The lights weren't even on yet.)

AHHHH! It was SO EXCITING! When they got their instruments on and stuff, they automatically started playing "We're So Starving" which is pretty much (okay, lets admit it guys...) a pretty cheesy song. The lyrics are more than blunt, you know? But the way Panic At The Disco played it, they made it sound the furthest thing from cheesy. It sounded amazing, and it was perfect for starting out the show. Right after "We're So Starving," Panic jumped right into "Nine In The Afternoon" which was also pretty cool to see live for the first time. heart "Starving" and "Nine In The Afternoon".

Panic At The Disco then anounced that they were going to play an "oldie," which ended up being "But It's Better If You Do." For this tour, Panic changed their old sound from A Fever You Can't Sweat Out to incorperate with their new sound. Like, everything sounds more rock-ish. You guys might be thinking that they shouldn't change it, but honestly guys, it sounded SO GOOD! I absolutely love the way they changed all of their "old" songs to fit with their new songs. They made everything really tie in together. They didn't really change it that much, the small changes they made really added a lot to the whole show.

Camisado was played next, which is personally my favorite song from A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, so I was going nuts. xD "Camisado."

"She's A Handsome Woman" was really touching. <3 I felt like...the band really meant what they were saying. Especially during the beginning of the song. The lyrics just filled my heart. <3

This show was the first time I ever got to hear Ryan sing a whole song by himself, which of course is "Behind The Sea." Ryan sounds really great live! They suprised us with bubbles shooting out of big bubble machines that were on the ceiling and the sides of the stage. <3 It was so pretty.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
(The white floaty things are the bubbles. biggrin heart )

Panic At The Disco dedicated "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" to anyone that was single in the crowd (I felt sort of left out) xd . Brendon said "********" the first time really funny. Haha. The second time he just let the crowd say "********." I don't think he is ever going to loose his sexiness in that song. Ryan did the backup vocals just as amazing as he always has.

"Northern Downpour" was absolutely gorgeous. I stared at the band in gaze. Before they started playing, Ryan told the crowd how much us fans mean to them, and how "Northern" is dedicated to us. Just before the first chorus, Brendon said, "God, I love you," to us. The way he said it...I'll never forget it. I think the expression on his face has given me eternal happiness.

"The Only Difference" was really fun. whee It was cool hearing it in it's very first style...it had that pop-dance type of feel.

"I Constantly Thank God For Esteban" was really fun to watch. <3 It wasn't a song that I was expecting them to play for this tour, so it was a nice suprise. heart

"The Green Gentleman" was so perfect. This was one of the two songs that made me cry. When I was listening to this song...for some reason my future just sort of flashed in front of me. I could just see myself striving so hard for a good life. The chorus really hit me hard in that song. I'm not even really sure why...since it's a pretty happy-sounding song. I think it was the lyrics or something. "I'm on my way and I say..."

"Folkin' Around" was the cutest thing ever! <3 I loved it so much! It doesn't sound "folk" or "country" at all in real life.

Ryan said, "We have a new song that we just put together backstage before the show, and we want you guys to be the first ones to hear it, so here you go!" And then everyone was cheering and flipping out. And then all the sudden we heard the chimes from "Sins." xD Then everyone was like, "What the ********?" About a verse into the song, Brendon was like, "We didn't just make this up, heh... redface xd " Right after "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," Panic At The Disco said goodnight and left the stage.

It was totally obvious the show wasn't over. whee
We all chanted, "Panic! Panic! Panic!"
And we yelled and screamed until...
Mr. Urie walks out onto the stage. Alone.

He put on his acoustic guitar, and that's when I noticed the Carona bottle in his hand. He even commented on how it was "good." My first thoughts were, "Brendon, what the ********> are you thinking?!" I mean, seriously. The crowd is atleast 85% minors. Yeah, it's cool that he's proud of being over 21, but what kind of influence does he think he's putting on us kids?! I just don't think that he was thinking. It just wasn't a good move.

...I got over it pretty fast though once he started talking. wink heart

He explained to us how he needed help performing the keyboard part for "Time To Dance." Brendon singing "Time To Dance" alone...acoustic...is seriously the cutest thing in the world! Like, AHHH. I can't even explain it! Haha.

The rest of the band then came out and played "Pas De Cheval" and "Mad As Rabbits." When Mad As Rabbits was playing, I started crying again! I just couldn't take the fact that it was the last song. I hated it. I wanted more! crying heart I love Panic so much! I didn't want them to leave.

Panic At The Disco has come so far. The music they are performing truly means something significant to them, and you can see it in their eyes when they perform. I've never seen Panic At The Disco look like that before. Not in any youtube video...not when I saw them live the first time...never. Watching them during this tour was really something special. You can tell they are just completely having fun. They are so in love with what they are doing. I noticed this in all of the boys, but specifically, I really noticed this type of thing in Brendon. His facial expressions, and the tone in his voice...even if he is just talking...I could tell he was having the time of his life. Why else would he tell Ryan, one of his best friends, that this was his favorite show he has ever performed? These boys truly are astonishing, and I will never forget that night. <3 Never. Panic At The Disco is my one and lonely. <333

*The setlist is not in the correct order, but it's something similar to that.
*I didn't feel like proof reading all of that, so I apologize for any spelling or gramatical errors. xD
*Credit to my dad for taking all of the photos.
*Credit to the owners of all the videos.
*Thanks to Panic At The Disco for continuing to amaze me.

Wow.

<3

Before I even read your last paragraph, when I was watching the videos I was just thinking.. this is seriously what they are meant to do with their lives. Playing songs they love for the fans who love them. They seemed so comfortable and happy on stage. And Brendon is incredible. He makes it all seem so spontaneous and fun and you can just tell he's genuinely excited to be there.

Panic is so amazing, it almost hurts thinking about it xp

I felt my night was kick friggen a**. That's right. People were stupid enough to crowd surf and someone fell and Motion had to sop playing and Jon decided to be sentimental and Brendon came out and sang with Hush and Alex crowd surfed. The next night was awesome, too. But if you want to know about, talk to me because I'm to lazy to type it right now.

Yeah, I'm really suprised he offered to take me out of school early! Because I was thinking..."s**t...I don't get out of school until 2:45...by the time I make it to Detroit, it'll be 6:00 and I'll have a terrible spot, especially with floor tickets." But then my dad was like, "Do you want me to take you out of school early?" And then I heard the angels singing. biggrin heart
