	i just watched Death Note on saturday and i had to watch sweet L die crying Does anyone know the real reason why he died?

	To move the plot forward. If L didn't die, Light more than likely would have been convicted as Kira. L would have tested the Death Note as was planned, and with that he would have gotten the needed evidence to put Light, and probably Misa as well, into jail. Or they would have gotten the death sentence. Spoilers for the end of the series: If all of that would have happened, then Ryuk would have went ahead and killed Light, thus ending the series. So if L didn't die when he did, the ending of Death Note would have came much sooner.

	That is so sad. i been looking at some stuff and it sounds like they might have a succsessor for L or sumtin like that, do u know wat its about?

Yeah, anyone who's read all of the manga or have already seen all the anime would know about the successors and basically the entire storyline that is to come. I would elaborate on it, but it all would be best left unspoiled.

	Well, L Lawliet is right. If L hadn't died, the show would end a lot sooner and would be a lot less interesting. And the "successors" wouldn't have shown up either. And the storyline that follows wouldn't have happenned. Not that I dont' love L! I wish he hadn't died. But He had to. Just a fact of life. crying I was sad when L died too. He was so awesome!

	Yeah...I mean I love L too...But I don't think the series would be half as popular if it didn't take such a critical pot change. I know i woud have lost interest. So don't be sad....his 'successors' are a lot of fun haha

	It would have gotten OLD fast. L versus Light would have been boring, and YES, Naomi is now in love with his little succesors. >3 Honestly, if L had lived, Kira would have reigned supreme. ^^;

	he died because the world is cruel and they hate us all so they killed L to toture our thoughts and feelings those bastards!!! and yeah death note would have ended sooner, but at least L would still be alive..

	sniffle-choke crying This is way too sad. I hate that episode... even though I keep re-watching it over and over on youtube... like a bad wreck. eek L is my lover (in my head) and now he's dead. stare Death to Light!!! scream
