I guess it also depeonds on how noticeable the porn is... I mean, for reading porn in public, if the cover is tasteful- like blank, with just a title, or the picture is something plain, like a fan or a flower or something like that, then no one would really notice....
However, if the doujinshi or whatever includes a graphic display of naked bodies/ private parts, that would draw more attention. And, of course, my wrongly wired brain just *had* to come up with the suggestion of someone reading noticeable porn whilst masturbating in public.
Yesh, it sounds crazy and outlandish...but, given the kinds of people that are out there in the world- and believe me, there are some *real* crazies- 'tis possible. And highly disturbing.

FishStick85 I don't think it's bad at all. I can understand some people having something against really graphic sexual scenes in fanfiction, or people who read just for PWPs and smut... but I personally don't have any problem with it. We've all got our guilty pleasures, and some are... more commonly accepted than others. A perfect example is a friend I have whose life revolves around loli-con (lolita hentai)... and, I mean, he's still a perfectly decent person. It doesn't make him any worse than anyone else. Mostly I think people act like they have a real problem with it because it's not considered publicly acceptable, or considered unmoral, or because it's just plain embarrassing sometimes. As for fanfiction that isn't of a romantic nature... well, it's kind of like any other kind of fiction, really, so I see no serious issue with it. xd Ah yes...that too. For fanfictions, some people just don't like how fangirls put themselves in the story or make everyone OC. I see nothing wrong with that...but it does get annoying. I mean, it IS imagination. And I think, the creators would be happy instead of upset how, some people are making their characters gay. Seriously, they have that many fans who's in love with the pairing, in their book. Who wouldn't be happy when they have that many fans?

Ohhhh, we're talking about Mary-Sues, here! xD
Well, I see no serious problem with that, either. Every writer has to start somewhere, and before they learn the ropes, often they'll write from on OC's point of view. When I look back at all my old stories, I shudder sometimes simply because that's the kind of fics I wrote. And the kinds of fics I read, no less.
And sometimes I get really irritated with all the OOC-ness and stuff because you have to wade through pages and pages of it just to find the good fics... but then I just remember where I first started, and it gives me a little more patience for those kinds of people and what they do.
As for the fandom thing... well, in this case, I'm sure that Kishimoto is happy with it. xD Or has at the very least accepted the fact that we're all going to take things differently.

But sometimes smut is good xd Once you get really bored with all of the exciting and suspenseful stories, I guess it really depends on our taste. I see nothing wrong with people writing two characters as gay or ooc. But it does get annoying when they whine like hell...
