Do they even exist? I've seen like 2 goth stores around where I live, but I've never seen or heard of a Club or bar that was Goth.

I think it would be overwhelmingly cool to have a Goth Club or Bar to go to and mingle with others like myself. The fact that hardly anyone around here is Goth or they just don't dress like it is really depressing mostly because it leads me to believe that I'm one of the only ones.

Has anyone heard of any Goth clubs or bars? Has anyone ever even seen them?

I swear eventually I'll just have to open up my own!

Goth would further struggle to exist as a scene without clubs or bars - it's not like The Batcave was a family restaurant. Still, they can't always be found in any given town, so maybe you just have the bad luck to be in an area with a sparse goth population.

As for me, there's a place called The Asylum where I live.
If only I weren't underage...

Its where the scene began and where it still thrive today!

The Batcave in London has long since been passed over to a place called Slimelight, which is the biggest Goth club in the world to run on a weekly basis with 3 floors, a mini-cinema and live bands at the beginning of the night.

If there is no club in your town, perhaps you could instigate and promote one?

Thats not a bad idea! I was starting to consider it, but like I mentioned before I don't really have a gothic population to work with, at least that I know of....

So how would I go about it?

Before I give any advice, note that I've never myself promoted a club. I have however been to many, many Goth clubs (ok about 10), and know how these things are promoted. With that out the way...

-First, advertise on Goth forums and online communities. Promote, hint that this thing is already in motion. The internet is a very powerful tool for this!

-Go to existing Goth club promoters and give them flyers to hand out at their events.

-If your a student, you might be able to book a place at your Student Union for free. Failing that there's always cheap venues and you should make your money back with only 40-60 punters

-Finally the negative. If you advertise and promote in local press and through Internet networking sites and find the response to be very little, then assume its not happening.

Good luck!

Nah I dont like Manchester. Its too much effort to get there and back for a night out. Then if I get id'd it was useless
I prefer my dance clubs and metal clubs anyways.

I'd have to also find a location with a really good Gothic following. It would be useless for me to open a club in a place with very little goths, I'd be out of business in a month!

anyhow I will consider your good advice! I didn't even think about those things, but they sound good!

It can be expensive to start up an actual club or a bar. Designing and putting together the interior, proper equipment for bands/djs/etc., the cost of the building itself, making sure you follow and pass the required safety regulations. If you're serving food/drinks you have to follow health code regulations and make sure all food/drinks are being stored and served properly and that everything is sanitary. Then there's the bills...heating, water, electricity, sewage, etc.

Years ago I helped my mother open up a local coffee shop in town. It was the only "alternative" coffee shop in town with kind of a goofy b-movie feel to it with all kinds of sci-fi and b-movie themed decorations. It was expensive and there was a lot of work needed to keep the place running and up to code. Unfortunately the co-owner basically committed a huge act of fraud against us, my mother and I lost $10k, and we packed up our s**t and left the cafe, leaving it to go under and fail miserably without us.

wow thats horrible!

I am no stranger to that type of betrayal. My father makes buisnesses and sells them. He has had a few of his corporations get screwed like that when his partners ran off with all the money. We've lost millions like that and my father has had to put money from his own pocket to make sure they don't fail thus putting us into poverty.

I've come to know how to deal with dishonest people and I'm very good at deciphering the good from the bad. Hopefully I can manage with this though lol I'll have to put alot of work into it though!
