I honestly think you should do an actual self-portrait, getting yourself down on paper down to the gritty details. It may seem hard, or boring, but if you give it your own attitude, it can be a really really really amazing and fun project. A mirror, and a piece of paper is all you need.

That can be cool. But I think it's more fun to make cartoon versions of people, especially yourself. 3nodding

Realism is...kinda icky.

Cartoons are so much more care-free and can be elegant somtimes.
Realistic drawing to me just have way more detail than is really needed.
